Most of us here only remember our biggest wins, and sometimes that makes us feel like we’re actually profitable in gambling just because we can recall that one lucky moment.

But what we often forget is that we're regularly losing small amounts. And when those small losses pile up over time, they could easily add up to more than what we've ever won.

So the real question is: who here actually tracks their losses?
I’ve heard that professional gamblers do. Do we have that kind of "pro attitude" in this group?

A lot of gamblers don't know the relevance of doing this, they think it's a waste of time. Sometimes tracking your losses might not be good because it reminds you of the past but as a gambler that's mature emotionally that shouldn't move you. It's important that you know the amount you have lost and if you are actively involved it's good you know the amount that you are losing, don't be careless with money

So what if you see that you have losses already? Are you going to stop because the logs says that you have lost so much money?

I doubt that will be the case here, because you can see how those small losses piles up already and even if you have spend money that you can afford to lose, tracking it might have a big effect on you specially seeing how big your losses are.

So for me, it's better not to do that. Otherwise, you might as well stop gambling for good.

If I track my losses, what will this information give me? How can I use it? I cant change what has been done. Each game is individual. In sports betting, teams or athletes dont repeat their performance. Tracking losses can only show a total how much I have lost, but I prefer not to stick to the past in gambling, and that grand total can only disappoint me than be useful Cheesy Even those who gamble for fun and have already said goodbye to money after deposit, will treat loss as a negative memory, prefer forget about it and focus on positive emotions.
It makes sense to track your losses only if gambling is your main source of income, then keeping track of your losses will be a kind of accounting, where you can track everything down to the last penny and keep records. But for an ordinary player, which is the majority here, there is no sense in this, there will be losses in any case, because you can’t do without it in gambling. It depends on the player how easily he is ready to part with money, when I deposit money, I still consider it mine until I lose.  Cool And always when I deposit, I set myself the goal of doubling the deposit, this is such a sporting interest that adds excitement to me.

If gambling is source of income, then simple check of initial balance check would be enough Cheesy If you had 1k, but end evening with 200 bucks on a balance, I doubt that you need to lose tracker to understand that you have screwed up today Cheesy If I use my card for payment and get rejected because there is not enough funds, I think I dont need to open bank account and go through expenses to understand that I am bad at money management and spent money stupidly.

I have been gambling for a long time. Online gambling allows me to check my betting/account history, and I have never done that. There is not use for it. I always remember how much I have deposited and simple math allows me to understand if I am winning or losing right now. Even if I open bet history and look on the list of my casino and sports bets, that is not going to help me make decision to continue or to stop gambling today, for example. Instead I would look at the clock and decide to continue or not. Same look on a balance makes me take decision to continue or to withdraw.

I used to do this before, however this would only help me to stay out of gambling for awhile, make me regret not stopping, and cashing out.
I don't see any reason why I need to continue on doing it so I stop keeping records of my wins and losses.

So the real question is: who here actually tracks their losses?
I’ve heard that professional gamblers do. Do we have that kind of "pro attitude" in this group?
In my point of view I think only just tracking the losses wouldn't gonna help us much. The think that could help us in gambling for controlling losses that is limiting the win and the losses amount before playing gambling.

We hear a lot of things in this world that have no basis in reality, so what you have heard about professional gamblers has no basis either. And besides, I think there is no such thing as a professional gambler. Because gambling is not a profession, we would call a gambler a professional. Gambling is for the entertainment take it as this purpose and enjoy it don't try to take it is an investment so where can win by taking any kind of strategy.

I think I see a bit of inconsistency between people responding here and in the other thread If losing $20 per day in gambling makes us happy.... https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5544319.0. You can't say that losing $20 per day is too much but at the same time say that you don't track your losses and that you wouldn't. You should not be afraid of the truth, and the only way to have a healthy approach to gambling is to know what you are losing and keep it to limits you have set.

It's not necessary for every gambler to track their losses because not every gambler gambles for gains, but only those who gamble for gains and profits will do what you are describing here. Someone who gambles merely to have some fun and get themselves entertained won't spend excessive amounts of money on their gambling activities because they will deposit an amount that they can afford to lose, play some games to have some fun, and if they win something, they enjoy and celebrate, and if they lose the money, they don't do anything and go away and come back later with a new budget.
You can't play for fun with limits, if you are not tracking the numbers. It is not possible.

Well, I think it was those days that such thing normally happens because we have not yet gambler much then. Though, as it is right now it will be very wrong decisions for a gambler to start keeping track of he passed losses and winnings in gambling because is pretty obvious that losses are always higher than winning. So however, as a good gambler keeping such track might likely result were a gambler would start thinking of chasing back after losses in gambling because is always a game of losses.
How can it be a wrong decision? It’s your right to know how much you lose not just how much you win.

It’s not a sin if you don’t track it, especially if you’re not comfortable doing so. But still, there’s nothing wrong with monitoring your losses. In fact, it’s a responsible move. I get that we’re here to have fun, but with the right discipline, it shouldn’t be a problem to face reality. And that means seeing the full picture - both the wins and the losses.
There is nothing wrong in keeping records of your losses ot you have the time and see it as important. And I don't also think that it is compulsory to keep records. Keeping or not keeping records is based on individual differences. Just as @Sanitough identifies that it could help some people to avoid loss chasing. So if keeping records makes you a responsible gambler, then it is worth the task or stress. I don't think I would keep such records since my gambling budget is very low.
Not that a gambler can't keep records of his passed losses. Because as long as gambling is concerned each and everyone of us have a every right to do whatever they want. But for me I would never in any way think of keeping records of my passed losses because my winning is not something to compare with my losses, even as that I normally gambler for fun and entertainment with the amount that I can afford to lose, so I don't see any reason of keeping records.

I also do not see global reasons for myself to keep such notes in gambling. But in general, I can approximately guess what order they are, because almost by eye I can calculate how much I allow myself to lose per month. From this I can calculate how much my expenses are made a year, because I do not exceed expenses per month. Therefore, it is in a detailed table with my losses that I do not see any sense. Although, of course, for those who have these expenses have an amplitude from high to small ones and are not attached to months, it may and it makes sense to do it.

I think I was not a real gambler, as I don't track my losses. Perhaps I don't want to remember it. Instead, I count my winnings and forget those losing moments.

Honestly, it was not a good thing to remember because that only reminds me of my big losses. The moment I think of it, I feel regretful and bothered. So, to enjoy my gambling life, I focus on the time I win just to boost myself and think that I was not too unlucky here. lol

I don't really have the feeling of having it talk and remember.

yes you do it well just to understand how much you spend
I also advise you to limit your expenses by creating a sort of budget, based on your possibilities obviously
I don't know, set a fixed amount that you can lose per month so you're fine

if you win you can obviously play more money, and so you wouldn't lose too much

Most of us here only remember our biggest wins, and sometimes that makes us feel like we’re actually profitable in gambling just because we can recall that one lucky moment.

But what we often forget is that we're regularly losing small amounts. And when those small losses pile up over time, they could easily add up to more than what we've ever won.

So the real question is: who here actually tracks their losses?

Believe me, a good number of gamblers will not stop gambling when they notice that they have accumulated a significant amount of losses. Rather, they will be motivated to try to recover those losses.

There is really no need to track losses. If gambling hasn’t been favorable to a gambler, he would know even without tracking his losses. Anyone who wants to quit gambling because they are losing more will do so without an official track record. Only a gambler who still has an interest in gambling will keep such a record, and the record won’t really help matters.

So the real question is: who here actually tracks their losses?
If you calculate for the long term, I'm sure most gamblers must have suffered more losses than the amount won. Actually, it doesn't matter if gamblers only see the winnings they've gotten, considering the amount of losses actually allows gamblers to bet with the intention of recovering the losses they've made.
I sometimes do look at the statistics of my gambling, but to be honest, it doesn't change anything. I'll still bet and play the way I do.

Most persons only track their profits as good as that is , you may not be able to determine your losses, because you don't track your losses. A good gambler should be able to know how much they have made  as profit for the week, how much they have lost, and they should be able to subtract their losses from their profits and know what they have. That alone will help them know how much they have made or lost in the week.
This is important because, when you know  you are Lossing or wining then you can now know if you are a good gambler or a bad gambler.

How can you track profit without tracking losses? That is not possible. Profit is calculated by subtracting losses from wins.

To be honest, I’m not the type of person who tracks failures.. so no, I don’t track my losses. It’s not fun to do that.

I tend to focus more on remembering my wins, and that’s probably the main reason I’m still gambling to this day. Even though I know, based on rough estimates, that I’ve lost more than I’ve won overall, I still keep going. Maybe that’s the real secret to staying in the game because if you actually track your losses, you might realize how much you’ve lost and end your gambling journey sooner.

As for me, I've not attempted to track my losses in any way.But I think it's way more unfair to track profits without also tracking the losses.Tracking losses has proven to be meaningful and effective especially to gamblers that are willing to avoid similar mistakes as this in the future.Tracking losses should be a goal for Gamblers because it helps to give a clearer picture of the gambling and it's financial habits.

Long-term gamblers, especially those who have taken gambling as a source of income, really need to track their losses and see if they are doing well or not. As we already know, the casinos have an edge over the gamblers. Such a record will help the gambler know if he wants to continue being a gambler and spending more, or look for a legit source of income. Although most of these gamblers do not see anything wrong with gambling until they end up being miserable. Anyone who can track his losses and make good decisions with those records is indeed an intentional gambler.

The reason is actually simple after all - to see if you are cheating yourself in relation to your hobbies and games. Many players mistakenly think that they are on the plus side in the long run, but that's because they don't know how much they are actually losing. In fact, if you keep statistics like this, there is a downside - you might just be intimidated and discouraged by the amount of money you lose from playing

It's really difficult to tracking our loses when it comes to gambling because just as you have said the little money that comes in from our winning makes us to forget about the loses that we have as individuals the will of making more money is the real reason why we as gambler's will find it difficult to keep track of our loses

What most people are after is how they can make money so even if they are losing they are not concerned about the money that they are losing daily what has blinded them is how they can make money so it's difficult for a gambler to keep track of money that they are losing

I don't keep track of losses, because that would cause fruitless regret for what I've lost, but I can't help but remember any big losses. Winning is undoubtedly the best thing to remember, and these are pleasant memories, although I also don't keep track of winnings.
Professional gamblers treat gambling like a business, which is why they keep "bookkeeping", and most likely these are poker gamblers, since this is the only gambling game in which you can make a guaranteed profit by reaching a high level of skill.

So the real question is: who here actually tracks their losses?
I’ve heard that professional gamblers do.
I think I was not a real gambler, as I don't track my losses. Perhaps I don't want to remember it. Instead, I count my winnings and forget those losing moments.

You dont have to track anything to be a real gambler. Tracking losses or every bet will make you bookkeeper instead of real gambler Cheesy Imho its better to live your moment, than stick to the past. Even though people learn from losses and get experience, with gambling it does not work, as each game or round is influenced by random. It is hard to get multiple similar outcomes to come one by one, to learn something from first or previous ones. Moreover, if you have lost your bet in sports or in casino and learn that, will that make you stop gambling? I guess not. So its no use to track losses. Because most important is your current balance only.

So the real question is: who here actually tracks their losses?
I’ve heard that professional gamblers do. Do we have that kind of "pro attitude" in this group?

I am not even a regular gambler, but I do track my losses. I check the transaction history of a specific platform and check if I am in the loss or if I am in profit. Since I mostly play in-house games, I judge the fairness of the platform depending on its in-house games. I am not the technical guy to find flaws in their system. If I realize that I am at a loss on a certain platform, I make a deposit and try to recover the loss. But if I end up losing more, I usually do not continue to play there anymore. I believe most of us in loss which is why the casino business is still growing.
