Indeed it was hard luck that almost cost Real Madrid the game today cause having made those 15 good attempts without hitting the back of the net tells you that the ball was not in your favour because on a very good day they should have converted 5 out of the shots they was fired in the game. Marseille found the back of the net before Real Madrid but all thanks to Mbappe who converted the two penalty kicks to give his team home victory in the first match of the champions League for the team.

Real Madrid players need to avoid red cards like this in their next match because it will have a negative impact on the team when facing a much tougher opponent. If they were facing a tough opponent, Real Madrid might have lost a match like this because they would have struggled to keep up. Luckily, Marseille made mistakes that gave Real Madrid two penalties that led to the win.. Marseille should have avoided mistakes like this and avoided a defeat. I was glad that the substitution had a positive impact in the game, they both scored and assisted. They got what was important which is the 3 points. Trossard and Martinelli are the saviours of the match, that's what substitutions are expected to do when the team is in desperate need of help.

Arteta made a good replacement, he replace Gyokeres and Eze with Martinelli and Trossard, then both Martinelli and Trossard gave 2 goals and 2 assists. I think they both really want to play, hence they show off and perform better.

While Marseille were not able to create much attack. The only goal they had was a blunder by Real Madrid's defender giving a lousy back pass which was ran and taken by Marseille players. Thought Marseille too lost a couple of easy chances. Overall Real Madrid's defense seemed weak on the game. Vinicius Junior replaced Rodrygo in 67th minute but couldn't add anything close to Rodrygo at all.

Benfica Vs Qarabag was another unbelievable outcome of the night as things moved from best to worst. Qarabag rose from 2 goals down to win the game and it is something thrilling. Barrenechea and pavlidis opened the game earlier with a 6th and 16th minute goal to give Benfica the push and motivation any team can have. Qarabag too was at their best, the pressure from them became intensive. The team only intentional and scoring than huddling the ball. Andrade registered their first goal at 30th minute followed by the 48th minute leveling by Marquez. The most shocking came from Kashchuk who came from bench to give them the winner on the 86th minutes. I am very happy for Qarabag as they become the first Azerbaijani club side to win a champions league game.

I agree with you, perhaps without the penalty, Real Madrid wouldn't have been able to win this match. Which what I saw yesterday from this real Madrid team, it shows that they are not up to the standard needed to go all the way, because if they as weak as they were in attack against the bigger teams, they will not be that lucky, while most people will be saying that they were better, but in my own honest opinion they were just lucky to snatch the whole three points because even though the second penalty was given as a hand ball, I don't think most referee will give that as a penalty since the ball struck the hands of the Marseille player when his hands was behind him and he was equally on the floor, so they were just lucky to be given the second penalty, which was the defining penalty that won the game for them.

Then as for their captain that was red carded for violent conduct, I was really disappointed with him since it's coming from an experience player, because even the incident that led to him headbutting the goalkeeper of the Marseille team is not even serious, so I was really not impressed by his actions, he was just lucky that real madrid didn't lose this game because of his stupidity.

Pundits have too much expectation for Madrid while this is Xabi's first season in the club. I understand it consider they might see it based on the squad quality, but the fact that Madrid still performing quite poorly in this game. They got some big chances, but always unable to convert it. Like when Mbappe got an assist from Vini, but shoot it straight onto the goalie.
Anyway, their attack is still relatively good, but their defense is still meh. Always allowing aubameyang to freely chasing the long ball is not good.

I think it’s still too early to talk about something like that, but certainly both teams, Real and Juventus, are in form. They are not yet fully synchronized, but with time they surely will be. When you look at Juventus, in just two matches they scored 8 goals,4 against Inter and 4 against Dortmund, which is really impressive. Real got their first 3 points, but it won’t be easy because Carvajal has a red card, and we all know how much Dani means to them...

They can find a replacement for him no doubt. I mean the team where doing okay when he was out injured so I'm sure that filling in the gap in his absence won't be a difficult task for Xabi Alonso.

To me before that red card we can all see that real Madrid was not playing as expected, and this is one part they needs to improve if they really wants to compete in this champions league, because looking at the champions league we have so many interesting team that looks fully ready to compete.
