~snip~
When you are struggling in buying bitcoin you will end up selling everything soon, to invest in bitcoin and stay consistent in the market you will need a good discretionary income and for you to have this discretionary income it will come through a source but still having a source of income doesn't guarantee you discretionary income because you may still have this source of income and it's not enough to even take care of your most need things, depending on your parents to live will difficult for you to start up a BTC investment.
Kickstarting your Bitcoin accumulation journey is very much different from sustaining it, I think that the part you are confused on... To start all that is required is your discretionary income and since you have been on this forum for quite some time, I guess by now you should have known that discretionary income must not always come from a source of income... Discretionary income as we all know it, is the extra money left after sorting out our basic needs and responsibilities...Back when you where in school didn't you have extra leftover funds after sorting out your basic needs and responsibilities? Am sure you did even though at time it may have been small(or big), whatever the case may be.. This confirms why even student who aren't working can still generate their discretionary income from the allowance they get from their parent or sponsors, and as little as that extra money is, they could very well use it to Kickstart their Bitcoin accumulation journey...

After a person had spent so many years accumulating bitcoin, there could be some once in a while periods that they choose to take some money out without getting tempted to devolve into a habit in which they are ongoingly taking money out of their bitcoin.

Whenever folks take money out of their bitcoin prior to reaching overaccumulation status, they run the risk of delaying their progress in making overaccumulation status, and surely some folks end up drawing out so much from their bitcoin that they never end up being able to reach over accumulation status (when they otherwise were on track to do so). We cannot make judgement for others, and surely guys have way more options in regards to how they manage their bitcoin holdings after they had been accumulating bitcoin for two or more cycles rather than when they are still in their early stages of bitcoin accumulation.
You are right taking some money out from their accumulated Bitcoin with out getting to their over accumulation status could equally be seen as gambling because they are slowly selling when they are supposed to still be accumulating Bitcoin since they are still at there accumulation phase. This method is never good for an investor who is at their early stage they might sell off one day and become a no coiner, an investor right time to take some money from their investment should be when they have reached their over accumulation status which is also holding their Bitcoin above 4 years.
If you can manage your life without selling Bitcoin, then there is no need to sell Bitcoin. But if someone's situation goes to a point where it becomes a matter of life and death, then selling some of their Bitcoin may not be bad. At such a point, you can get an idea of how to sustainably withdraw. No matter how powerful an asset Bitcoin is, it is not more important than our lives.

Again, buying for more than four years does not mean that someone has reached the point of excess savings. Someone may have been buying regularly for four years, but he may still be in a very small position compared to his own long-term goals.

These days I like to think that guys have to put greater than 35% of their income into bitcoin for more than 4 years to really get to a place that he might have enough bitcoin in 4-ish years.

Guys who are putting between 15% and 30% into bitcoin each year, they still may well end up taking close to 2 cycles before they might start to feel that they had put in enough.

Guys who are putting between 10% and 15% may well take 10-15 years before they start to feel that they have enough or more than enough in bitcoin.

So the results depend both upon how much you are able to put in and how much you really think that you need, and you might have to wait some time, even if you had already put in a lot - like 1-2 years of your income/expenses, before you start to feel like you can start to sell some of your bitcoin.

1) Self-Custody is a right.  Resist being labelled as: "non-custodial" or "un-hosted."  2) ESG, KYC & AML are attack-vectors on Bitcoin to be avoided or minimized.  3) How much alt (shit)coin diversification is necessary? if you are into Bitcoin, then 0%......if you cannot control your gambling, then perhaps limit your alt(shit)coin exposure to less than 10% of your bitcoin size...Put BTC here: bc1q49wt0ddnj07wzzp6z7affw9ven7fztyhevqu9k

At the end, it boils down to how efficient is someone's financial system. A person may be willing to invest his 35 percent in bitcoin but has a basic responsibilities that would take over 60 percent of his income before he could start figuring out his Discretionary income for investment and further making provision for his emergency funds, backup funds, discretionary expenses, reserved funds and then investment funds which could all be at 15-30 percent depending on how he plans or how extravagant he spends of which he also needs to regulate.

Another fellow may also invest his 35 percent in bitcoin and still not have enough bitcoin in 4 years. Someone's 15 percent could be larger than another's 30 percent or 35 percent of even 60 percent and more. A basic income amount is a huge factor determining the amount of bitcoin a person can be able to own after 4 years, however, having a large income does not automatically imply having enough discretionary income for investment.

Bitcoin success to some extent goes beyond the amount a person earns unto the amount of money such person spends. This is why I think that a person should aim at keeping it consistent for at least above 4 years or better until after retirement. Bitcoin investment should be a retirement plan because it will help to preserve your wealth and after your retirement, you can start withdrawing from your bitcoin when you no longer have any other sources of income or getting too old but not selling off all at once and withdrawing periodically does not also stop you from buying more when you can afford to do that.

What works for Mr A may not work for Mr B. So it's better to focus on consistency within your financial capacity and also making sure that you're true to yourself at all time.

I probably should have pointed out that it is not too common that guys are able to invest into bitcoin at those levels of 35% of their income/expenses or higher, but it is not impossible for some guys who either have high incomes relative to their expenses and/or guys who have other investments and/or assets from which they can draw upon in order to achieve higher abilities to invest into bitcoin.

Another fellow may also invest his 35 percent in bitcoin and still not have enough bitcoin in 4 years. Someone's 15 percent could be larger than another's 30 percent or 35 percent of even 60 percent and more.

You are overly complicating the example.  Many times  if a person is able to invest several times his annual income or several times his annual expenses, then on a bare minimum level he is building up a bitcoin stash size that is starting to have capacities to end up replacing large portions of his income to support his standard of living in the future.

A basic income amount is a huge factor determining the amount of bitcoin a person can be able to own after 4 years, however, having a large income does not automatically imply having enough discretionary income for investment.

Of course. Discretionary income is a factor of both income and expenses and so both have to be accounted for, even though sometimes we might still calculate the value of our bitcoin (and/or any other investments) based on its ability to replace our current income levels.

Bitcoin success to some extent goes beyond the amount a person earns unto the amount of money such person spends. This is why I think that a person should aim at keeping it consistent for at least above 4 years or better until after retirement.

Guys can measure where they are at in their investment at various points along the way in order to try to figure out the extent to which they might want to continue to accumulate bitcoin aggressively or to change anything in what they are doing based on where they are at.  There are a lot of ways to do it, and I was attempting to frame some levels of investment that I believe need to be accomplished if guys are expecting to get to a point of not having to continue to accumulate bitcoin after short periods of time, such as 4-6 years rather than more realistic longer periods of time.

Of course, if guys are able to front load their bitcoin investment, then they are able to make progress faster, yet not all guys are able to front load their bitcoin investment, especially in a reasonably safe way.

If you get to overaccumulation status, you don't need to buy more bitcoin, especially if you figure out ways to sustainably withdraw, whether price-based and/or time-based sustainable withdraw methods.  I talk about both of those methods in my sustainable withdrawal thread.

Guys sometimes prematurely start to withdraw which might not be a good idea, even though sure, guys can do whatever they like with their bitcoin stash.

What works for Mr A may not work for Mr B. So it's better to focus on consistency within your financial capacity and also making sure that you're true to yourself at all time.

I am not going to argue against the idea of tailoring to your own personal circumstances.  That is a good approach to bitcoin accumulation and management and also a good approach to cashflow management practices.

This is why people need to make sure to have their backup funds in place, depending on the severity of the situation they might not be able to handle everything but still it will do better than nothing, while your investment is not as important as your life you should still be looking to not sell it unless that becomes your only option and the best we to ensure that you don't sell when you don't have to is to make sure your backup funds are in place.

I got this point sir, perhaps some person are getting it wrong, you have spelt it out that it isnt good or helpful for investors to get some funds out of their Bitcoin hodlings at the early stage of their Bitcoin accumulation because of the reasons you have given so far, this is very right, to me, thats more like short term investment habit, if there are provisions for emergency funds, I don't see any reason why investors that are still at their early accumulation stage will want to withdraw some amount, I think such act is deliberate,  perhaps such investors at some point change their mind from the long-term goals they set earlier and decided to withdraw, however, I'm of the advice that guys should concentrate on the course , instead of alowing themselves to be tempted to be tampering their investment at the early stage when they have not reach their over accumulation.

4 years may not be enough to reach a sustainable withdrawal period. Yet it depends on the amount of discretionary income you have. How strong your income is and how much you need to live. Someone may be used to living in a city and their work requires them to stay in the city. Living in the countryside may have relatively few additional expenses because housing and other expenses are much lower or if you have your own house, it will not be too difficult for you to increase your Bitcoin accumulation.

After completing one cycle, you need to consider another cycle target and it is better to stay in Bitcoin regularly until you have a source of income available so as not to reach the overaccumulation level.

You may have been accumulating Bitcoin regularly for 4 years but the size is still not satisfactory. This means that you have successfully completed the starting phase of Bitcoin investment. The next step is to continue in the same way because it will not be too difficult for you to complete three cycles.

So are you trying to advise folks to stay away from bitcoin investment if they have a source of income, or could it be that they should stop buying bitcoin once they have a source of income, or that they should now have their bitcoin investment as their source of income where they can sell to generate income which is a traders mindset and using your bitcoin investment as a source of income is very risky as there’s no guarantee of returns. Again I don’t think there’s any rule against investors who might have probably reached some level of a fuck you status or over  accumulation as a result of their consistent and persistent accumulation of bitcoin and hold, afterwards bitcoin should be considered as a long term asset meant to be held for many years. So why the fear of holding up bitcoin even in the phase of over accumulation.

At times people who see Bitcoin as their last option when they are in a dire situation put themselves in that position becauses they didn't build strong enough emergency funds whilst Investing into bitcoin.  Take for an example  Cleveland earns $300 monthly he budget 50% to his daily expenses and bills ,  40% to buy bitcoin and  the remaining 10% used as his emergency savings. Now let say the unexpected happens, his emergency savings  might not be able to cover it. Therefore, he will have to sell some part or all of his bitcoin in other to cover the expenses. This is as result of the weak emergency funds they have. Although there might still be some severe situations that might require a very large sum of money, so if there are no other options to source for funds then selling their Bitcoin shouldn't be a problem especially for low/unstable income earner.

This is nice , many are always in the haste for the reward or profit but are not ready to put in the work . The amount of bitcoin you own in your wallet will determine your profits or rather your ROI. That’s why anything worth doing is worth doing well , take your time has an investor think of means to increase your accumulation plans . Many are still scared to invest properly , if you know your earning not that much but you can still do good even after increasing your accumulation percentage , is best you do it . As you prioritize your emergency funds also prioritize your investment big time

If there is no extra money to invest, it is not realistic to start investing with a loan. The need to take a loan arises only when an investor faces financial problems or unexpected financial problems arise. Everyone has small debts in their lives. If the investor is a businessman, he may have some debts in his business. Apart from this, many times one has to take a loan due to various problems in family or personal life. In this case, investing with the extra money that is left after paying the installments or loans regularly will not create any problem. However, if there is no extra money in hand after paying the loan or installments, then continuing to invest may create a deficit in repaying the loan. In this case  it may be more reasonable to bring the loan amount to a manageable level or pay it off. Financial stability is essential for long-term investments . so if the investor is under debt pressure, market fluctuations can scare him. However  investing with a new loan and investing with extra money while having manageable debt are not the same thing.

Taking a loan to invest in bitcoin is not ideal no matter the situation. If it happens that an investor is facing financial problems and they don't have emergency funds to address whatever challenges they are facing, instead of then resolving to take a loan it will be best if they fall back to there bitcoin investment. Taking a loan may only put them into more financial challenges. The best thing for those that are investing in bitcoin for a long term is to build an emergency funds along side there bitcoin investment whenever they are face with financial challenges instead of going for a loan there emergency funds will shield them from taking loan and also safe guard there bitcoin investment.
