Panathinaikos was able to beat Real Betis with a 10 man team, that’s indeed shocking. Real Betis couldn’t take hold of their advantage when they had it and still, they allowed Panathinaikos to stage an attack and force them into committing a penalty which subsequently gave Llorente a second yellow card that saw him off the pitch. There wasn’t much need for leaving his leg out once he saw that the ball was gone and he made such an easy decision for the referee, he didn’t need to look at the screen for so long to come to terms with what was before him.

Nice job from Aston villa in this first round, they are more balance now to play Lille at home. To be honest I didn't know that this game would end in favor of Aston villa because many were actually doubting about the game and it was obvious that both of them are almost the same thing but Aston villa took the three points against Lille without any mistake in the game. I don't know why I missed this game because I planned to watch the game, but due to my activities today I couldn't make it to watch the game. Anyways let's see if Lille would make a come back in the second round because they still have some little hope.

Aston Villa won the game by a goal from Ollie Watkins. To be honest, while watching some part of the game Villa were often the team attacking more but lack the finishing edge but I was expecting them to get a goal and that was enough for them to get a win in the first leg.

I expect the second leg to be more interesting with more goals coming, Villa got to do better in maximizing chances including more clinical ones.

Aston villa should now focus entirely on the europa league matches. They have lost the truck badly in the premier league. It will no longer  be possible for them to stay in the top 4  of the table. They can  try to grab the fifth place in the Premier League and compete for the europa league title.

Real Betis is another strong team in la liga. This team is also  considered a hot favorite for the europa league title. But they lost to panathinaikos in the first leg. I would have been happy if the match had been a draw. But they lost. It is difficult to  accept.

Panathinaikos’ win could be seen as a bit lucky, and I’m pretty sure that if Betis hadn’t gotten the red card, the match could’ve ended with a Real Betis win. They probably would’ve scored in the final minutes too. Unfortunately, Real Betis made a mistake that ended up giving Panathinaikos a penalty, and that’s how they scored. As for Nottingham, overall they should’ve been able to win that match. But if it had to end in a draw, I’m not too worried about them playing away in the second leg. Teams like Nottingham sometimes play with more energy when they’re away. In the end, Nottingham should still make it through to the next round.

This match was one of the most evenly matched games of the night, in my opinion. It's clear that Panathinaikos has found more consistent form recently. While Real Betis has achieved good results, we saw more clearly tonight that their performance has been somewhat more erratic. Injuries and absences played a role in Real Betis defeat. Their attacking flow was occasionally disrupted. Nevertheless, they fought hard until the final moments. Panathinaikos adopted a tougher, more passionate approach at home, securing the win with a late goal. However, I believe they will face a tougher challenge in the return leg.

Aston Villa know they can't win the Premier league even though they do get to qualify for UCL but that's for next season so the Europa league is the only league where they have a clear chance of winning because they can easily go band for band with all the remaining teams and win. I think that's why they're laser focused on the Europa league and I'm sure it should be the number 1 thing on their list of priorities this season. I do hope they go on to win it because I'm not sure I've seen Aston Villa win a trophy in modern football.

In other words, it was a boring match which almost made me sleep off. I wasn't expecting anything different though because both AS Roma and Bologna are not such great teams this season, just average by my assessment. The match I noticed to be interesting was that of Stuttgart against FC Porto in which Porto was able to win because of Stuttgart playing with one man down. Beautiful skills and nice goals from that match.

The match was very boring I also not expected that kind performances from both of teams, with the way Roma are performing this days if they continue with that patterns of playing that how the team behind them will take over their current position from them, because already Juventus have close points gap with them is just one point difference now they need to pick up if they don’t want that to happen to them.

This match that I was having much hope for Roma to win so that they can advance to the fourth position, but unfortunately it was not happen after they played a drew with Bologna; imagine common Bologna was difficult to them Roma to win i was disappointed in their performance.

The match between Bologna and Roma was very balanced. Both teams played at a similar level, so a draw was a natural result since neither side had a clear advantage.

Aston Villa defeated Lille 1–0 away from home with a goal from Ollie Watkins. With this result, Aston Villa gained an important advantage.

Porto beat Stuttgart 2–1 away. Porto were my favorite in this tie and they won the first match. I think they will win the next game as well and advance to the quarter final.

Betis lost the first leg with a useless red card, this was not worth doing at all, Betis continued to improve their game and control the ball so they could dominate the match but they didn't have the power to score a goal, the penalty goal was the only goal in this match, now they have to accept defeat by Panathinaikos, this was a really funny match, I didn't think Betis could lose in that way.

The second leg has high hopes, as long as we don't make the same mistakes we should be able to win the second leg well, Nottingham Forest is also currently losing 1-0 to Midtjylland, I'm almost confused about the English league team? Aston Villa can also only be 1 goal ahead of Lille.

They even controlled the game until the end especially after 1 Panathinaikos player got a red card but it seems like it was still not enough to make them get the advantage in this first leg.
I quite salute the defense that Panathinaikos did in this match because even though 1 player missing but they still try as much as possible to get the advantage playing home and the momentum they created in the final minute when the crucial situation was a mistake made by Betis.

1 Goal penalty makes the situation a little more difficult for Betis even though Betis will be at home for the second leg but still this is not an easy thing especially when looking at their performance today where finishing is wasted a lot.

I just finished the Celta Vigo vs Lyon game which ended in a draw. Lyon was literally the best team in the Europa league phase and to see them struggling against Celta Vigo was disturbing. Anyway, Lyon to winnodd was around 8+ and win or draw was around 2.85.i took the win or draw bet and imagine my relief to see that Endrick shot go in after a mistake from the Celta goalkeeper.

Getting this draw gives Lyon an advantage when they play the second leg in France. I expect Lyon and Aston Villa to win their home games next week.

Aston Villa despite their collapsing performance are still able to win matches in the Europa League, and we have another Premier League team winning nothing and beaten by a team that very people know they exist. In the Europa League, i am so much a big fan of Aston Villa, i want them to win more than any team.

I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually end up as winners of this competition trust me. Considering that Aston Villa are no small side when it comes to European competition, they have the history of winning a major trophy like they did with the Champions League and the manager as well, who has done so well in the past with Villarreal and Sevilla, I'm certain of things goes right with them,they'd successfully lift it. To be honest, they ought to be winning this trophy, Unai Emery has a lot of experience and success in this competition and Aston villa are no difficult position, still pushing to finish in top four position in EPL.

They have the squad and giving Emiliano Martínez a club title will be great, he has been good since he came to the club and among the reason they have grown to this point. Aston villa are among favorite for it if they can be consistent they may more likely lift this trophy this season.

What is really wrong with Premier League teams in the European competitions. I can't believe that Nottingham Forest lost to Midtjylland with that high odd. This week has really been hectic and disappointing for the Premier League teams and it seems like Aston Villa is the only English team that won their European match this week because Crystal Palace couldn't also win their opponent AEK Larnaca in the conference league as they managed a 0:0 draw.

Porto had a deserving victory over stuttgart in today's game, I did saw only the second half and I can say it was somehow a balanced game, stuttgart had their second goal cancelled, that was supposed to give them an equaliser but the referee ruled it out. They also made some really great attempts but the goalkeeper was inform. Stuttgart has slight defensive issues they should take care of and they will be fine in this competition.
