It’s unfortunate you lost the bet but honestly your instincts aren’t bad at all. I’d say you were more unlucky than anything because games like that usually end in a draw.
I was following both matches and once they got past the 85th minute with Forest vs Villa still 1-0 and Braga vs Freiburg at 1-1, I just had a feeling there was one more goal coming somewhere. I was almost convinced it would be Villa scoring the equalizer but then Braga scored instead and instantly I gave up on the whole thing.

And with the way Nottingham Forest have been playing lately i honestly don’t see that dream scenario happening anymore. Out of nowhere they suddenly look like the strongest team in the relegation battle.. I just don't want to imagine it happening, it would be crazy

The Italian clubs have been doing so badly in Europe this season. This perhaps translates to the league being so weak as well, so Aston Villa beating Bologna 7-1 is no big deal. The real test is actually against Nottingham Forest. What other team knows Aston Villa in and out better than their fellow country club, Nottingham Forest? If I am to put in a risky bet, then it's going to be Nottingham Forest pulling off a shocker against everyone's favorite.

I wouldn't dare doubt their strengths mate, because most times in this competition the favorite clubs get eliminated and the least expected club wins it because we judge their performance based on their position on the table of their domestic league. Not knowing that they decided to take this competition seriously in order to shock the world that because they ain't good in their domestic league doesn't mean that they're good for nothing.

The sudden improvement is crazy. At least they should’ve waited for you to win your bet first before turning into prime 2004 AC Milan at the back ... It seems Forrest have found their footing again because it's been a while they lost a game, and with Wood back in form again he'll definitely help them a lot. He's scored in their last 2 games now and it seems he's back with more firepower.

I think it's good you didn't follow up, you could have lost more if you fire up some more bets.

So it is normal that we would lose our money on this. Aston Villa is clearly the better team, we are going to see them get the second leg. I can see why this would be a disappointing result, I get that and it is not really shocker to me, but at the same time we have to realize that it is not going to be too bad at all. We should expect things to be better and easier, and not have this type of problem at all. I know that we are seeing something that is changing for the good, because Villa suppose to be win this, but second leg is there for a reason and Villa should be able to make a comeback and get the win there and go to finals.

The expected result was Villa to win this game. They clearly have better resources to make it happen, but it's very sad they bottled it when even a goal in away would clearly help them a lot. As for me, this result is still shocking me because how terrible they were.
They might not dominate the game, but they had made some big chances, but bottled it all.

However, i can still be positive on them because it's literally easy to turn things around when they're only one nil down in the first leg. If they will still unable to beat a team that was underperform at the league.

I know you really want Villa to make it to the final, and I also understand you might feel disappointed after they failed to beat Nottingham in the first leg. But like I said before, sometimes the underdog can always bring surprises, that’s normal in football. On top of that, Nottingham has played many home games against Aston Villa, and they’ve managed to hold them to draws and even beat them a few times before. So mentally, playing at home gives Nottingham a slight advantage.

The most important thing is the aggregate score gap is not too big, and Villa still has a very strong chance to turn things around with a bigger win. So no need to worry.

In my mind, Aston Villa was best fit for the Europa league title but after the clash with Nottingham Forest, I dont really see the spark they had at the beginning of the season and I could only imagine the latter. Europa league semifinal Nottingham beat the favorites by 1- Nill. Forest continued his unbeaten form and now they are unbeaten in the last 6 games. In the first half Forest kept pressure on Villa by keeping the 57% of possession 0.69 xG, 7 shots and 1 big chance created but missed . But in 2nd half Villa took control on the ball and kept 57% possession  1 big chance created and 6 shots but Forest defended it perfectly 88 % tackles won 2 goalkeeper saves . Forest won a penalty and Wood converted it into a goal in the 71st minute. Now they are going to play 2nd leg in Villa park with an aggregate of 1-0 in favor of Nottingham. Villa is going to push forward and forest must be prepared themselves for counter attacks

I'm planning to bet on how many "dying swans"  we could see in the 2nd legs of the Europa League semifinals!

I’m also backing Nottingham; I would have predicted a Freiburg win, but they played really poorly in their match against Braga. Aston Villa look tired and stretched to me too, whereas for Nottingham, this is their only chance of qualifying for next year’s European competitions, so they will really be giving it their all. They are safe in premier league and have clearly put all their strenght in the european competition.

Well I would say that between two teams, there is always a chance of one side winning. The logic of "this team can't win this" makes no sense, of course they could win, even a very tin team could have a chance.

This season we have seen United lose to a fourth division team, hell I remember Bayern losing to a team at a lower league, BAYERN! so yeah it's definitely possible for any team to beat any team. But that doesn't change the favourites, Villa is still heavily favoured to normally win this.

I see it as something natural because compared to other teams, it seems that Aston Villa's overall strength is slightly better even though they lost in the first leg, but there is a high possibility of turning things around in the second leg, especially since they are only trailing by 1 aggregate goal. 

Betting on Freiburg or Braga with odds @5, I think, is quite risky because in the final, both will face English representatives who are stronger than them, so I think that opportunity is very much not worth taking.

It was a disappointing performance by Aston Villa against Nottingham Forest, but can we really say that a 1:0 defeat is threatening? Just 1 goal from Aston Villa in the second leg and the aggregate will be levelled. Despite that i also feel like Nottingham Forest might become the side to reach the final but i just have a little hope in them because i can still remember their terrible performance during the league phase matches. I was also surprised that Aston Villa lost to Nottingham Forest in the first leg. I had predicted that Aston Villa would easily win against Nottingham Forest in the first leg. However, my prediction was wrong. However, I'm optimistic that Aston Villa will reply in the second leg at home. Moreover, the aggregate score is also narrow. I'm confident that Unai Emery will employ effective tactics to defeat Nottingham Forest in the second leg, as he is a very experienced coach in this tournament. Therefore, I still favor Aston Villa to advance to the Europa League final.

I'm surprised too that this team is trying to survive by all means, last season they were not too close to the relegation team but this season, their domestic league is very poor but they didn't disappoint here. It was their good place that earned them a slot in the Europa league but they will not be appearing in any one but if they win the final match which to me it's very certain then they will have a place in the Champions League for next season.

Look at what Nottingham Forest played this weekend, they beat Brighton with 3 goals. One will think they woke up from slumber but I have believe that the team knows what they are doing. If they are doing well in the league just to avoid getting relegated and they are equally doing well in the Europa leagur to semi final, they can also reach the final. If there is any team that is going to stop them from going next stage, I don't think Aston Villa can decide the result because they will be going.
