Following the Bitcoin pizza shenanigans, I noted that laszlo was online earlier today.
Is that possible?

The profile had a password reset and woke up after a long time:



Checking bpip.org, the informations are pretty confusing:



If the account has changed owner, I think it should be flagged, as the risk of scams could be material.

Anyome has more insight on what it is happening?

The account posted last in 2014. This is not yet something we need to be worried about until he starts posting something that can be harmful to any member of this forum. His account has not changed hands.

Also Laszlo did not posted using another account that his account has been hacked.

He has actually been "back" for a while now. I noticed his return about 2 weeks ago in the seclog, and it also appeared that he had managed to recover his account. This should not cause any alarm.
Those guys who recover accounts vet them before they are recovered. Things such as original email address, sign bitcoin message, IP address pattern checks and a lot more are done before they successfully recover the account.

I think it's Laszlo himself who's having access to that account right now. I mean BTC is at $120K so why not?

It was when I was reading through the comments on the pizza day announcement thread that I saw that someone had noticed that he came online recently, but no post had been made yet. A profile like that could be a high target for hackers.

By the way, I saw that Laszlo's profile revived a few days ago and he's back reading the forum. We could honor him with a warm welcome back.
He hasn't written anything yet, but it would be nice if he could express his thoughts on this contest.

I have the belief it was Laszlo who get back into his account. He was never dead neither did he announced his dismissal out of the forum just like how other members did. His presence might be triggered by the just concluded pizza contest and he intend to see how it went.

Since Theymos have access to users IP:address he can verify if the IP is coming from the same location it was logged in the past. Unless Laszlo has moved to a different environment over these years.

But he can actually see everything without getting logged in.

If he truly returns to be active, its been two weeks and he hasn't posted anywhere claiming to be the real owner of the account, knowing the community will demand validating before trusting.

I personally don't think so.

Do I think? No, I don't think so, but is it possible for a high-profile account to be hacked? Well, nothing is impossible. One of the reasons why most high-profile accounts are locked, I believe, is because of suspicious cases like this. Old accounts might successfully be hacked but will later be discovered and caught if the person can't prove ownership. Like I said above, everything still appears to be normal, and there is no harm or price to pay to be careful and vigilant to see how the account will operate—that's if there will ever be any post from that profile.

The account use manual recovery, so I think the person who control that account has access to the secret question/old address because in this thread, they asked either one.

It could be hacked, but the chance is low.

Unfortunately I can't find his personal contact by searching through this forum or other social medias.

I agree with this opinion because it's possible he could be the one trying to resume using his account but may have forgotten his password since as you noted it has been eleven years when he last showed up here so it's not something to get worked up over until the account starts doing things that are shady.

Honestly, I'd like to see him get active because he has become quite a legend

I wouldn't call him “legend”. It was legendary the fact that he bought the pizzas but if we look at the whole picture we will see that he is not a great example at all.

Now he only has $119 worth of Bitcoin left and regrets none of it.

It takes the right proportion between who should hold btc and who should circulate them He started it all, let's say that without that trade it would have taken even more years before we would have seen Bitcoin at exorbitant values and we would never know if it could actually go that way or fall into total oblivion

We're already scaring the boy and now he's back. 

I also had a long period of inactivity and returned, sometimes that's how it is, moments in life.

It would be good for him to come back, he and many others who were here on the forum +10 years ago. Now we have to be careful, whether it was just a visit to see how things are, or if it will actually become active.

No. What do you think of someone who had tens of thousands of bitcoins in 2010 but:

At the very least to me it says he was someone who didn't believe in the future of bitcoin.

That's why I say it's legendary what he did but he's not. More legendary to me are for example the WO thread regulars who have long stacked or holded bitcoin, as they have believed in the future of bitcoin for many years even though they are not known to anyone outside this forum.
