Gambling was taught to me during maths lessons from an early age so it seems obvious to me that the game can be a positive and educational even.   That lesson was obviously done minus the money, you dont always have to bet the house to play the game and noting the maths and statistically the differing odds behind the games can make it something of a positive to play imo.

I believe Poker vastly improves your logical decision making if you are playing it right, thats surely a positive and helpful beyond the game even.  Again dont bet the farm as risk and probability is never certain thats what makes it hard but a brain can be part of playing for sure imo so its good exercise.

This made me to come up with this post to ask this important question; Is gambling really that bad? Are there no good effects of gambling on people? Gambling can't just be all bad all the time. Well if you think it's all bad, why are you still gambling?

I have seen someone that gambling almost changed his life and he somehow threw it all away! Not to gambling of course as the case usually is but, to a bunch of wrong decisions taken without careful evaluation of the pot he was digging for himself.

Fellow won a jackpot, a handsome size it was.
First wrong decision, closed his source of income at the time. Invested in a different field and later ran into troubles, ended up selling off his investment and went back to point zero.

Now that was gambling trying to do the most for someone but, he lost in the end.
It’s not always about gambling when it comes to flaws, it’s our decisions.

Most of the posts I have come across here in the gambling section has always centered on negativity about gambling. If it's not about gambling making someone go broke, it will be about one negativity or the other. Sometimes reading the comments in those posts scares me, because of how some people describe their horrifying gambling experiences. This made me to come up with this post to ask this important question; Is gambling really that bad? Are there no good effects of gambling on people? Gambling can't just be all bad all the time. Well if you think it's all bad, why are you still gambling?

Those gamblers who find their gambling life okay remain silent. But those who have suffered terrible losses often complain and blame the casino for their losses. But guess what? These big-mouth gamblers keep on gambling because they have been caught by the trap. They are not here for entertainment but for chasing money. And the more they say negatively, the more it gains attraction from the community. Their intriguing stories and claims made people curious about it and want to try. Gambling benefits from them because that helps it become more popular.

Publicity remain publicity even it's  a good one or a bad one, those casinos will continue to gain inerest as readers and viewers may attract their attentions and start to visit the site, once they deposit their money the chance that they'll be hook and start increasing their apetite to play, and like what you have said, they can drive those veiwers/readers to a potential new client and still the casino will prosper from the new active users that being drive out of curiosity.

exactly, it's something that needs to be calibrated based on the day you have, and not all days can be the same, I understand that the situation can get out of hand for some people but it must also be a person without control who falls completely into the trap, I play too, but I play responsibly

One thing is certain, gambling is not always considered bad, depending on how we view it. Some people consider gambling to be entertainment when they are tired from work. I think that as long as we gamble within a reasonable budget, do not exceed what has been set, and are aware of the risks involved when deciding to start gambling, in other words, become responsible gamblers, i don't think there will be any problems with it.

Gambling is never bad, people that had bad impression towards gambling had a reason for that and the reason is not far from being as a result of addicted gamblers. Since gambling have been in existence to date, if there was no body that got addicted and had their life destroyed, would anyone see gambling as something bad? I doubt not. Gambling is not a bad thing until a person gets deeply addicted to gambling and gets out of his normal life. Many people enjoy gambling and many can profit from it by using their own strategies, at that time gambling seems to them to be a very good thing and they enjoy it very much. But when someone continues to gamble even after not being able to win from gambling and gambles even after neglecting his important activities, then it is bad for him. However, before gambling is considered a bad thing, one has to keep himself within a boundary where he will only enjoy gambling but never become addicted.

Even if the gamblers is addicted, he chose it to be that way because if they had not lose control in the first place, they will not become addicted and casinos would not be blamed but since the gamblers are the cause of the problems they find themselves in, they should be blame and not gambling. In my place, there are lots of people that work in casinos and betting shops and are making a living from the salary, can we not count that as a good thing?

Thank you. I just remembered, it also helped me be good with plus and minus in my maths when I was a kid, especially when it comes to money. I mean, I did know about gambling at an early stage of my life, and that's because many old people play cards in the streets, especially those who are just trying to do something during their idle time.
Poker is somehow math too, analysis plus being good with math, and you will probably be a good player here.

If people look at on this positive sides then maybe their view towards gambling would provably change.

As with anything, there are positives and negatives. The rule is to be good at taking advantage of it in every situation we encounter.
Assessing the positives of gambling, there are many things it could offer.
- Discipline in managing money and accounts
- Concentration
- It could become a career; if you enjoy it so much, you could become a casino operator or, who knows, maybe even a casino owner (and thus turn it into a job)
- Meeting new people
- In rare cases, a big win could change your life
- Learning from the mistakes of others so you don't make them

The positives are numerous; you just need to change your perspective.
Anything done with a certain balance isn't harmful.

You might as well say that trading is bad, too. People bet there in the same way, only not on games, but on companies, currencies, projects. But trading is seen as a way to earn money, and gambling is seen as something bad, although the principle is the same. Of course, I don’t welcome casino games where they issue large loans without warning that you will have to pay them back, and in all other respects I see no reason to treat gambling as something that ruins lives.

The reason why a lot of people post bad the gambling is because everything about the gambling has bad side so it good as people are stated the bad side out them talking about good about the gambling. For example is people begin talking good about gambling, and people begin to rush into it the end will not be funny for them, and who do we expecting they will starting blame is those that’s are been saying good side about them.

So in essence what you are trying to say is that people are mostly talking about the negatives of gambling so they will discourage other people from coming into gambling? To me that doesn't really make any sense because you ain't really forcing anyone to gamble. Everyone who's into gambling today is doing it on their own will. That's why gambling is only available to adults, people who can make decisions on their own. Okay since the bad publicities about gambling has been going on over the ages, has it made gambling to reduce? New casinos and betting shops keeps coming up yearly. I agree that people are earned from the gambling, since some even taking it like there office they earn time to time, but that doesn’t mean we can encourage everyone to join the gambling; after knowing the risks that is involved and not all everybody can afford to lose sum of money in gambling as some are very emotionally.

But why is it that people makes it look like it's only in gambling that risks exists. We glorify the risks in gambling as if we don't have a choice to make in it. The casino's won't dip their hands in your account and take money from you. Whatever money we lost to the casino's is entirely our choice. If you can't lose big money, then don't gamble with big money. It's very simple. People lose big money because of their greed. I don't gamble a lot but one of the good sides I see is the fun you can have doing it
another one is that it really gives the possibility of someone to grow fortune if they are talented or really luck

No that’s not true. Gambling has many positive sides.

Smoking and drinking alcohol are also harmful but as long as you don’t overdo them, they won’t destroy you.

Same with gambling.

Like the other bad habits I mentioned, as long as you are in control and having fun, gambling is no different than watching a movie at a theater.

It is full of entertainment if you ask me.

Anything done moderately cannot cause any harm or negative effects. Everything has a good and bad side but it all depends on what you allow to take over. Things like gambling, drinking, smoking and even something that's non harmful like eating can be harmful when they are done without discipline. Gambling can be a source of entertainment and it can also be something very disastrous If you don't do it responsibly.

I would not say most posts are negative on gambling but rather they are responsible pieces of advice and words of warning, because the activity of gambling can get out of hand and cause people financial and psychological damage. Just as you would not discourage somebody drink a beer, but you would warn them not too drink too much because that would have harmful consequences.

Gambling is not really bad as long as you use it as a way to entertain yourself.

And they are talking bad about gambling and they are making money from it and the only thing that i see that is a problem is the fact that people can not control there self so it is very important for people and people that dont have self control are the onces complaining that gambling is bad and people like that are not really making any form of winning from it and this is one of the reasons why people are complaining because am sure that there people that are not making any win at all.

and instead of them to just give up and look for another thing to do they are still very much okay with still trying to win and they are forgetting that when it comes to gambling you can not or you will not be able to force things because when you force things you will be the one at the receiving end it is better to o the little you can. I'm glad someone is bold to say good things about gambling other than the usual negative stuff people say about gambling. There are many ways gambling can be beneficial to a person be it in business, financial management and risk taking.
