There are a lot of benefits in gambling, the major problem is that we only focus on the activities of gambling and its side effects, because the side effects is always dangerous and the youths are always the victim of the effect, and so more emphasis needs to be laid on it to avoid them been useless to themselves and the society at large.

Gambling has its good side but just like any other things, the negative side of gambling will always overshadow the good side. When I was actively gambling, I realized how my tolerance for high risk increase and this helped me in other area of life because I could now take high risks without being worried about losing which was the major factor hodling me back from progressing in life. This may sound silly, but I think it is easier to have control over our negative feelings while gambling if we are doing it with someone, so they can enjoy their company, at the same time we lose or win money. I think it enhances the experience. It is pretty similar to what happens when you drink alcohol alone or in company, all is better in company.
Even if everything goes south while gambling and one loses money from the very beginning, the fact one is not alone gambling and make things easier, I can see some of my friends cheering me up as I lose money, to make me feel better and  continue to have fun and tell me in a subtle way to stop if they think I am crossing some line.
