Now we sit back and watch Cameroon v Congo, to find out which of them we are going to face on Sunday, in other to qualify for the Fifa Play-offs. That game is currently 0-0 at half-time, and we'll see how the second half goes and which team is going to face Nigeria.

It is 90 minutes already and Cameroon is losing by one goal and I'm happy about that. If the match ends this way, then Nigerian will be meeting DR Congo which is easier for the Nigerian team to beat than Cameroon because Nigeria does not have much advantage over the Lions of Cameroon if you check their head-to-head. Seems tonight comes with lots of surprises because Ireland is also beating Portugal two goals to zero in their world cup qualifiers fixture.

It was really good that the match did not get to penalty. We played them, we supposed to have won before 90 minutes but it can happen like this. After extra time was good as Chidera Ejuke scored, Victor Osimhen netted 2 more. I predicted that Nigeria will qualify an we qualified. It is really nice so much.

I was happy that Nigeria scored three goals in the additional thirty minutes to defeat Gabon because if the match had gotten to a penalty shootout, I don't know if Nigeria could have defeated Gabon since a penalty is a game of luck. Nigeria were a better team in the match, and they had good opportunities to win the match before the referee could have blown the final whistle but Nigeria couldn't make it happen. It was in the additional minutes that Nigeria ran riot and dismantled Gabon with a 4-1 victory.

I wouldn't have had any single fear if the game had entered a penalty shootout, even if the super eagle player did not play well in the game, I doubt it would have affected their taking of the penalty.
Victor Osimhen has been much relevant towards the ending of this tournaments qualification and his goal contributions has helped the Super Eagles to where they're right now, coming into the extra time and scoring 2 goals helped eased the match.
 

Victor Osimhen has always been relevant in all our games, the early stages we struggled he wasn’t available. Man has been a Star and a leader for the Super Eagles even his fellow players admire he greatly.

It was a well fought victory for the Super Eagles today despite Osimhen missing clear cut chances he eventually redeemed himself by scoring two wonderful goals.

Nwabali was also exceptional, the only goal was a deflection and our defence is picking up, good work by the boys I’m feeling 90% confident that we’ll pick the ticket to represent Africa

This is one of the best games i have seen the Super Eagles play in a very long while. Creating chances, showing fighting spirit, scoring goals and leaving it all on the pitch. That is the Super Eagles we love to see and i am pretty sure every Nigerian is pleased with the result.

The performance came at the extra time but at full-time they didn't really do much because i was very upset when Gabon equalized the score. If the Super Eagles had defended well, they would have won the match at full-time but i thank God that they later won in extra time. Osimhen also made good efforts to see that the Super Eagle sealed the win after he scored a brace.

At last DR Congo dramatically won Cameroon by 1:0 at injury time which confirms that Nigeria will meet with DR Congo on Sunday. I think Congo shouldn't be difficult for the Super Eagles to win so that they can play the final international playoff to confirm their qualification to the FIFA world cup. Nigeria should man up and qualify because am desperately waiting to see the performance of Victor Osimhen at the world cup.

Victor Osimhen should definitely be in the same level as Haaland because they are doing exactly the same team at both club level and country side. We are all proud that Victor Osimhen is a Nigerians with what he is doing and what he has achieved so far in football. Being one of the best strikers in the world is really something to be bragging about as a Nigerian.
Osimhen has been the one moving the national team with his goals, he has done it again today scoring two goals to make Nigeria qualify for the next round. Without him the team will definitely struggle to win matches.

Penalty shootout is a game to fear and if they had gone to the penalties I would have been scared because penalties are based on luck not by who knows how to shoot better. We have seen top teams lose penalties to small teams so you can't really be so confident in penalty shootout. It's a good thing they won before going to penalties.

I know this match will definitely end in favour of Nigeria. I was very impressed with their performance today, although whenever I have Victor Osimhen in my game, I have no doubt for Nigeria any more, although Gabon actually played an attackers' game, and I really love how their consistency is. In the first half, I didn't expect Nigeria could even acquire or score up to 4 goals in this game because Gabon was well prepared to play Nigeria to any extent, but I was happy when I started seeing the first goal from Nigeria. Akor Adams scored the first goal, followed by C. Ejuke with an assist from W. Ndidi, while the remaining 2 goals were scored by Victor Osimhen.

Before now, Osimhen was asked about the game against Gabon. He said, Nigeria will win the match, and he is going to score. Today, he scored two goals and Nigeria also won the match. I am happy with what that Lad is doing for both his club and country. He is an exceptional striker and should be respected just as other top strikers are respected.

DR Congo took advantage of the 90 minutes so they have won Cameroon, for the Nigeria they will not meet Cameroon again since it was Congo that won, they have Nigeria now but Nigeria will not get any soft from Congo as people think the bigger one is Cameroon. Back to how today went for the Nigerians super eagles, they won but never easy because it was through extra minutes they won the match as it was 1:1 full-time of the match, it was still the only person we always have in our hearts and  Adams who rarely score in the past was the people who score all the extra time goals.

Nigeria played well today, at least for a major part of the second half and was more determined in the extra time, although I was disappointed with their performance in the first half but they came back to impress me. Osimhen is rightfully compared to Haaland in performance as a center forward, both guys are very talented and funny enough their matches today share a good similarity both in scoreline and number of goals scored by each striker, what a coincidence right? Nigeria advances to the final of the African playoffs to meet DR Congo in the finals. It is still very possible for them to win that final match if they remain very focused.

Only few players has been able to maintain such level of consistency in the National team squad. Watching him at the world cup will be a dream come through because this player has given all his efforts to make it to the world cup so i wish they pass through the playoff round and qualify.

Eric Chelle is not being observant here, Osayi-Samuel is tired already and isn't contributing anything to the Nigerian team. Nigeria is playing with 10 men there and not 11 honestly, even when the goalkeeper chested the ball he remained walking instead of running ahead to receive the ball and start play on course. Still he's caused the possible penalty under review now. If Nigeria pulls through this and Chelle doesn't remove him, there may be more consequences to his laxity

I'm not watching the game at the moment, so I cannot confirm what you just said but if our goalkeeper is employing delay tactics when we are not even winning, then that's not good. What's the essence of delaying the game when it's a stalemate? I'm not a fan of Nwabali, especially after he made a blunder that almost cost us the three points in our previous match. I hope we get a better replacement real soon.

After a recent qualifier against Rwanda, caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen said he would have a talk with the keeper about his habit of slowing the pace when the Super Eagles aren’t winning , The criticism isn’t new he’s been booked six times this season for delaying play.

I think Nwabali has a problem with quick decision making regarding ball distribution, he is always very skeptical on the nearest man to release the ball to in order to avoid mistakes and he ends up wasting too much time in the process. I've watched some of his club games and I saw this clearly. For today's game he didn't apply more of delay tactics, the only place I have problem with him is that he is always in a hurry to kick the ball away and not play with his nearest man which I think is how Chelle directed him and I would not really blame him since Osayi-Samuel is not a very smart right back who positions himself well to receive the ball. Nwabali did well in today's match, the only goal he suffered was a deflection and was not his fault at all.

Mayor somehow you’re sounding like you don’t expect him to break the record, for me that is not even a record not to downplay the might and exploits of the great striker Rashidi but it’s too poor a tally (37 goals) compared to other legendary strikers in Africa. I believe Osimhen will break and set new ones worthy of the giants of Africa.

On Sunday we face DR. Congo, it’s not gonna be easy but I believe we’ll also win. I never knew Aaron Wan bissaka is from Congo I thought he’s an English National or something. Simon will play with him on Sunday. Lol

Exactly at the end of the match I had some sought of confidence level building up again within me because the super eagles really did amazingly well tonight.  However osimen almost made me cry at first because that goal he missed was  obviously a very clear goal that shouldn't be missed but like you said he still represented by giving us two more goals , I believe if he wasn't substituted he would have scored a hartrick .  I see Nigeria representing Africa in the world cup we are going there .

What a mess. Gabon should have allowed the match to end in favor of Nigeria when it was 1-0 because they cannot keep up their pace till 120 minutes. Look at how Nigeria  flooded their goal post with extra goals that they couldn't score during the normal 90 minutes.

Nigeria got it right in the extra time. Osimhen was able to put himself together and proved to be an outstanding striker that we know him to be. He scored  the last two goals for Nigeria to seal up their victory. This is Super Eagle performance since the beginning of this tournament.

Gabon players don't have the gift to see what will happen in the future, so you shouldn't blame Gabon for not allowing Nigeria to beat them at full time because they believed in themselves that they would defeat Nigeria and qualify for the play off final, but Gabon didn't know that Nigeria would defeat them easily in the additional minutes. Victor Osimhen was our hope of beating Gabon, and I am happy his goals played an important role in our victory against Gabon.

Indeed the Super Eagles are lucky to play alongside Osimhen if not for him in some cases I don't think the Eagles would have been where they are now. The opportunity Osimhen missed in the last part of the second half would have decided the game and prevented them from playing the extra time but the luck continues to pop in for the Eagles and Osimhen made up for his mistake. Something about the Super Eagles is that they like playing under pressure and they do it much better, we always see them at their best when things becomes hard, ever since they said that if they win against Benin with more goals that they'll advance into the play off the Eagles became aggressive and ruthless at the same time, like they did good.
I congratulate the Eagles for booking a spot into the finals of this World Cup qualifiers play off. Was expecting Cameroon to play against Nigeria but it seems like they weren't ready to move forward and that last minute striker by Mbemba of D.R. Congo gave them the ticket to be in the finals, let the Super Eagles get ready for another tight battle on Sunday.
