Every coach do blame the others for his team failure. I heard a dozen of excuses from them like the owners refused to spend money to bring new players and consolidate the team; many injuries that affected the strategy and the squad; red cards; poor quality of the stadium; referees playing against us; VAR issues...
Their point is to not be listed as a bad coach so their career will not be ruined. For Ten Hag for example, he did better than Manchester United previous coachs, yet he was not that successful there and Bayer Leverkusen epic failure tainted him back. I wouldn't call him a failure just like that, at least he is better than the previous coach that really made Nigeria to suffer losses and kept us where we needed to struggle to qualify for the World Cup. I am talking about George Finidi that was forced to resign following his terrible contribution to the team, he was more of the failure than you point towards Éric Chelle.

The statement was a terrible unthoughtful one, if we had done better, we would have qualified for the Intercontinental qualification round with hope of qualifying for the World Cup, our inconsistency kept us in this level.

I agree with you. Eric was given a team to manage not change. In fact the change that is needed to transform the team can’t be done by the team’s manager. It must start from the headquarters. As for the voodoo statement, nothing to be investigated. If our NFF were doing a great job, this type of comment will not pop out of him.

FA cannot get anything out of the investigation because what you cannot see there is no how you could get a proof that there was an act of that magnitude, or will they use the camera to see the physical appearance of the person that gave the impression to the coach?, what is your take on this, in what way would you use to investigate this problem if are in the FA team?. Calling him a failure seems a bit too harsh, his run of results for the Super Eagles was good, he met a bad result and did his best to give the team a chance. If he was the coach of the Super Eagles from the beginning, we maybe would not have been in the situation we were.

Maybe the NFF should keep him, he already has some good understanding of the players in the team, and maybe we should be able to win the AFCON with him.

There is always interference from the NFF with it comes to selection of players in the national team. The coaches who come knows this this is the reason why we continue to see thesame crop of players playing in the National team even though they are not playing any thing spectacular and is weak in their various wings. There are players that are over due to be dropped from the National team it for some reasons not known to many we keep seeing these same set of players, there has very good players scattered across the world if the coaches can be given the free hand to do their job we will see a much better improved Super eagles team.

Even though some persons are saying that the NFF is the reason why Eric Chelle couldn't perform well in the CAF World Cup qualifiers with Nigeria, they should understand that the NFF hired Eric Chelle so that he could help Nigeria qualify for the World Cup, and since he failed to do that, he will be blamed for Nigeria not being able to book a slot in the World Cup because that's his job.

If this advice of yours was in the early 2000, I would have agreed with you, but as of today most of our young people don't have the opportunity to present themselves to play for the national team, there are no competitions locally going on for NFF staffs to go and scout for players just the way we used to have in the early 2000, the NFF has not been investing in the football careers of young players cut across board, so where are you going to get the players when you eventually let the ones you have now to go. Or do you intend to go with this NFF routine of scouting for players that are playing for Europe instead nurturing young talents at home.

I stand with your opinion here, the team and coach all messed up, otherwise, what has voodoo got to do with a football match that the coach would be using as an excuse to defend his woes and lapses. I don't even buy that kind of statement, take responsibility of your actions and stop blaming it on what you can't logically back up. He said it was voodoo that the Congolese used, a country that hasn't been to the world cup for such a long time, is it now that they realised they have voodoo? The best he can do was to remain silent after the defeat, get back to his desk and strategies for the upcoming AFCON, there wasn't much of a backlash on him after we lost, the pressure was less for him to make such statement, all he did was trying to justify without being accused.

We know who caused us why we didn't qualify for the World Cup, the amendment was too late, although we also have some of the blames on our players. All i can say is good luck to Congo as they compete in the playoff, i hope they qualify.

Since Nigeria coach doesn't have any evidence that will prove that the Congolese actually used voodoo, I think he should take back his accusation against the Congolese and accept the defeat he conceded in the hands of the Congolese in good faith. The Congolese were just lucky to defeat Nigeria in penalty shootout.

I used to think that the Nigeria national team would get better if we used more home-based players, but when we adopted that method, the Nigeria national team's performance didn't change. We don't need more home base players in the Nigeria national team than the ones playing abroad because it won't solve the Nigerian national team problem. We need to give opportunity to the players that can fight for the Nigeria badge.
