What’s the AFCON without drama? They say Cameron is Nigeria’s biggest nightmare in the AFCON, but they seem to be having trouble within their camp this year. I don’t know what they are doing but they cannot have two squads in the AFCON.

It has been sorted out, the FA president Samuel Eto'e appointed coach list was approved one. The sacked coach submission was rejected and the case is over.  The minister of Sports has no power to appoint or sack national team coaches it's within the power of the FA president.

Salah is not in the best form of his career as he was last season, so I am not expecting much from him in the AFCON for Egypt. I personally don't consider Egypt as one of the contenders to win the AFCON this year because there are other teams in a better position than they are, even though some people have them as the number one choice.

I think teams like Senegal, Ivory Coast, Ghana, and even Morocco, the host, have a better chance.

You are correct Salah is not in his good state of performance for now but since we know that he can still improve any moment, but we can not confidently say is, if Egypt will win the AFCON or not, the matches are just starting and for the fact that a player which is believed to be the lead player of national team is not in his good form, does not mean that such team are limited in showcasing good performance.

Team you listed may have high chances of being champions but we can still conclude after all, it is football, unexpected team still win it.

I don't know why this has tended to happen in recent years, but it's become common to see few goals in AFCON games. Betting on under 3.5 goals would probably be profitable for me, because it's rare to see 3 or more goals in this competition. And something funny is that when the game was at the 80-minute mark, even I was convinced that Mali would win, and the odds were @1.12. I wonder if anyone bet on a draw, because if my memory serves me right, the underdog already had odds of @14.00. Those who bet on a draw must have had odds of more than @4.00.

Mali should have won this game comfortably because they played against a side that were not very strong, infact the only thing they had going for them was just their strong defense. This team (Zambia) could not record any shot on target in the whole of the first 45 minutes and rather showed life in the second when they had their two shots on target.
I will say that Mali felt they could wrap this up with just a goal after failing to score in the first half from a penalty but last minute header from Patson Daka in the 90+2 was what deprived them of all three points that should have seen them equal on points with Morocco.

I Expected Mali to defeat Zambia just like Morocco did to Comoros yesterday, because in that group it's Morocco and Mali I consider as strong team. Although I couldn't watch the match but I guess Zambia played a wonderful game, which is why Mali didn't get the victory.
The important match to watch today is between Egypt and Zimbabwe, it's going to be an exciting match and my prediction in this match, is Egypt will defeat Zimbabwe because Egypt have got a stronger team. Salah faced a lot of disappointment in the club side by Arne Slot, so I'm sure he's going to show a strong performance in this AFCON to prove he's still at his best.

Sure, this is going to be a tough match and I would watch it. Both teams have the ability to win the matches.

For quite some time now, I have observed this. It is becoming a tradition in Africa football to have less goals in their matches. I also observe this in our local league, aside the high chances of home teams always winning, there's also low goal score so It's not new to me thou. It's a safe option for betting but you should know that the bookies are well aware of this too and they won't be awarding excess odds for this option. You can check the odds of the ongoing match between South Africa and Angola despite one goal already scored by South Africa, the odd for over and under 3.5 goals is 5.0 odds and 1.18 respectively.

I could not watch the Morocco match but I saw the highlights. The goal scored by El Kaabi is really something, it’s a good sign that we are going to see lots of action in the AFCON this year. I still feel like I didn’t miss a great match because judging from the match stats, Morocco dominated the game with 71% ball possession and 7 shots on target.

The opening match was a very interesting one though some people expected the host country Morocco to take the lead in the first half because they dominated the game but Comoros held them to a 0:0 draw but coming to the second half Morocco find the back of the net twice. The El Kaabi goal is going to be among the goal of the tournament, history has it that he has scored using the bicycle kick for almost ten times now which means that he's familiar with that kind of goal.

I remember when I commented on Nigeria’s loss to Egypt last week, someone said we lost because our “big boys” didn’t play in the match. Look at Morocco, their captain Hakimi could not play yesterday because of injury but did they lose? Nigeria needs to stop making excuses for poor performance of the Super Eagles if we want to see this team grow.

We shouldn't judge the team's performance with friendly games. They were playing for nothing, so they didn't give their best. They would have to avoid injuries, so they would play with caution. In the case of Nigeria playing without their big boys as an excuse for poor performance, I also think the same way. From our recent games, anytime the Super Eagles play without Victor Osimhen, the performance is usually poor.

The Morocco national team didn't build its team around a particular player like the Nigeria Super Eagles. However, you would agree that Hakimi's absence was felt. The Atlas Lions struggled to beat Comoros.

Call me a pessimist I won't care but betting all out on Nigeria is a big risk. You can agree with me that someone like Davido can lose that amount and it won't mean shit to him so if I'm ever adding them in my slip, I going for the option of 1.5 or even the Corner option.

I have to laugh at that statement from Victor Osimhen, it is normal for we to see them go hard in this tournament because of not booking a spot in the World Cup. But yet again Nigeria can't be trusted at all, how are we going to say Nigeria will win the AFCON or even win against Tanzania? Like you said they haven't given many of us a reason to trust them. As for Davido I see him as a clout chaser, maybe he saw what Drake did in the fight between Jake Paul vs Anthony Joshua that's why he said he should do his own, well that's not my problem because if he loses that money it won't affect him in any way after all he's not a cold blooded gambler.

It's 89 minutes in the South Africa Vs Angola game with South Africa leading by 2 goals to 1. It's not been an entertaining game to be honest, I was expecting a game with more goals and exciting moments than I've seen so far but I'm impressed by the defensive performance of both teams. They've kept eachother from scoring plenty goals especially the Angola defence. South Africa though leading by a goal margin is still doing the best to add more but Angola on the other hand isn't giving up as they're trying to come back. South Africa I think will win the game but I'll be very okay to see a 2:2 draw at the end

Maybe this is how this tournament wants to look like but the competition just kick-started and, there maybe more number of goals from other unplayed matches, where we might be getting more number of goals in a match other than what we've seen so far.

Last weeks games between Egypt and Nigeria was a friendly game, you cannot always be sure that the players will put in their best. Morocco's game against Comoros was their first game in the competition so you will expect them to put in their possible best to ensure they win.

South Africa has just gotten three points from their game against Angola, important points that take them to the top of Group B. South Africa is a team with a lot of expectations about their performance in this competition, they have started well.

If you must bet on Nigeria to win Tanzania, let it come from a place of your own judgement and not because Davido staked a huge bet on it. After all you just complained that you have some financial limitations which means that losing any further money could trouble your emotions. I am not moved by what others say about the match between Nigeria and Tanzania because of course everyone will definitely bet on Nigeria to win on paper but what they will display on the pitch will determine if they can actually win. I will just wait for the match to start then i can place a live bet according to the direction of the match.

The Afcon has officially commerced tonight as the host country morroco is playing Comoros at the opening game of the tournament. This tournament promises to be interesting because we will be seeing the Best of African football in play, The Afcon has not failed to produce brilliance and plenty of goals coupled with surprises so I hope that this year edition will also live up to expectations.

Actually the Africa Cup of Nations this time brought several surprises, including the announcement that the tournament would be held every four years instead of every two years. Also, Morocco which is the host country had just won the Arab Cup after a stunning performance throughout the tournament.

Particular I am pleased with the announcement that the AFCON tournaments will now be held once in 4 years, this is one thing I have been advocating over the years. I kept telling my friends that this tournament that's being held ever 2 years doesn't make any sense to me because it will appear too common because of how frequent it is. Let it be held like the world cup and as Euros to enable the fans miss it thereby attaching more value to it. Am glad that CAF has finally seen reason to that. This will also open room for Africa players to be moving to big clubs in Europe. Before some big clubs in Europe don't like having more African players in their team because of how frequent they usually travel for nations cup. Also the AFCON should be held in the summer and not in winter.

African cup is the only one held every two years compared to Europe cup and also Asian cup. I don't know what should be the reason for the this exception since many seasons were failed in terms of management ( Remember the one in Cameroon). I think one reason is to open more chances to African players to find opportunities out of Africa. I also think this is a good step and a great milestones will be achieved.

Initially, I wanted to bet Nigeria over 1.5 with odds of 1.73 instead of total over 1.5 with small odds... but there was a doubt that Nigeria could not score more than 2 goals so I chose total over.

It also does not depend on the Nigeria match other matches also determine the victory.
