I’m happy for Ademola Lookman. He’s showing signs of the AFCON Lookman we love watching. I see comments of fans calling out Eric Chelle, but I think the main culprit today was Nwabali. I don’t know if it’s overconfidence or lack of it that’s affecting Nwabali, he needs to snap out of it else the coach starts our second choice goalie. When are we going to have a consistent goalie like Vincent Enyeama?

I don't know why Nwabali is been blamed, the first goal was a header that he had a slip, if you've played football before you will know that a header is one of the most difficult balls to catch and if you check, it was two headers that the super Eagles use to score their first two goals, would you entirely blame the Tunisian keeper for that, of course no, the second goal they scored Nwabali was a penalty which we cannot entirely blame him too. We shouldn't forget that this was the same Nwabali that did wonder's in our last AFCON.

These kinds of players are amateurs. Nwabali may have experience but he still manages to bring in some amateur behavior into the mix and it seems to me like those mistakes he makes are as a result of overconfidence like you said. As if he is in control and since the ball hardly gets to him and he doesn't see much action, when he's called upon to show something, he fumbles and makes mistake. Twice, both in the Tanzania and Tunisia game, Nwabali misbehaved which led to goals but in yesterday's game, to cover his mess, he claimed he sprained his ankle. Dunno if that's just a ruse to push off the blame from him but all the same, he needs to work on his behavior as he tend to act childish.

My concern is not only about the goal keeper, when you're fortunate enough to go three goals ahead of a team as strong as Tunisia, it's only expected that you try to fight for a clean sheet because that's the best way to build a good mentality while going into the knockout phase of the league.

Call it a penalty or an header, for it to have happened shows that we scored and became overly reluctant about our defense and general play. We will be playing against really tough opposition, the last thing we need is conceeding unnecessary goals for no just cause.

In a five goals action packed match between Gabon and Mozambique, favourite Gabon and Mozambique have first ever win into their AFCON history. 3 goals scored both teams in first half and 2 more goals in second half.

Match was good and balanced Gabon was favourite to win, having well experienced side, but sadly they lost their both games and now out of the event with first game lost against Cameroon. Three goals were scored in late action near the end of first half. Throughout match Gabon was looking better team, but sadly they failed to convert their chances and have chance of win. Now in few minutes Equatorial Guinea going to host Sudan.

So you are blaming Nwabali for the first goal are you serious, Nwabali is a very good goal keeper and he has proven that and that is why they are always using him, no matter how good a goal keeper is they will score him, the Vincent Enyeama you are making reference to they were scoring him too, if you really watched Vincent Enyeama you will know Nwabali has his moves and force. Nwabali has saved the team a lot and he those not deserve to be blamed for the first goal, he would have even catched the panelty that lead to the scored goal.
What we should be doing is to support the team and not to be criticizing any of them, they won the match and that's all that matters right now.
And what is wrong in having confidence, as a goal keeper you need to have confidence on yourself, the reason why he always catch panelty is because his confident. his a good goal keep.

If the coach starts considering the second guy it might be done for Nwabali because since there has not been any performance privilege for the second goalkeeper, Nwabali will be on the paper but if he caused why they would feature him and eventually he perform more than Nwabali he will automatically become the first goalkeeper of super eagles from how Nigeria do there things so actually he shouldn't feel that he doesn't have a competitor because he will no when the feature will be against him. Is as if those that said bad against Ademola Lookman gave him good motivational spirit.

Tunisia lost due to their cowardly football. In the first half, they didn't even think about creating any decent chances in front of the Nigerian goal. Osimhen missed many opportunities, but scored in the last minute of the first half, giving Nigeria a 1-0 lead. In the second half, Ndidi scored with a good header from a corner, making it 2-0. For the third goal, Osimhen provided the assist, and Lookman scored. After going 3-0 down, Tunisia abandoned their cowardice. They scored two goals, making the score 3-2. They could have found the equalizer towards the end of the match, but they couldn't get the ball into the net. With this victory, Nigeria secured their place in the next round. Tunisia's next round will depend on the result of their next match, but I think Tunisia will advance.

I was thinking that Nigeria would maintained the 3-0 till the Match end but Tunisia woke up and gave Nigeria pressure and removed two goals. Two of the goals victor Osimhen missed pain me. The first head nod goal and the one he scored but offside. In the first half Nigeria was galant from the goalkeeper, defend to the strikers but reaching the second half, the defense was not performing well again and the goalkeeper was weak that he couldn't keep perfectly and that gave opportunity to Tunisia to scored. If Nigeria is playing games like this, they can go far in the tournament.

If Nigeria play the way they played with Tunisia in the first half, their next match should be bonus for them with Uganda. And they should not underestimate any team and play with all their might to win any team playing with them.

I think the problem with Nwabali is overzealousness which has been underutilized, his confidence is quite good but it needs to be channeled into the right place in order to avoid such silly mistakes that could ruin the teams chances especially after taking the lead, no matter what, it's obvious that this goalkeeper needs more grooming as his performances seems to be taking a nosedive in recent times.

as for lookman, his performance was beyond expectation, it was very good yesterday,  Even Tunisia players even admired his ball control and others aspect of him.

Do you think there is much change? If something changed, what do you think changed, they won am happy but the keep making the same mistake, the citizens are happy that they have won some matches including there yesterday match with Tunia, very good they succeeded in wining the match but don't we think that match would've win that match without conceiving such number of goals, the had 3 goals already, that is supposed to be a convincing defect by them, just get this point,  if there was much time again, they way it was, Tunusie would've equalized the goals, I ask, is it that we can play without conceiving almost the same goal as that if there opponents, no doubts, Nwabali is an impressive player, most players has this pride of a thing but I don't think they allowed that to control them, Nwabali should not allow some too.

I don't think that there was no much change in the way that the super eagles of Nigeria played yesterday against Tunisia because from the teams play it was more of a personal brilliance than a team work. And we could see that play out in the second half of the game when Tunisia came all out on the attack. Tunisia would have drawn this game because in the second half the Nigerian team fell apart.


The defense is nothing to write home the midfield collapse the only saving grace was the attack, apart from the attack I don't see any positive from this game we will be punished if we meet a much more better team.

I watched the full match between Tunisia and Nigeria and I must say that Nigeria has a very strong team and I was really impressed by the their performance. If they continue playing like this then I won’t be surprised if they make it to the final—and why not even win the tournament. They just need to improve their defense which wasn’t really their strong point and was easy to breach in the last 20–25 minutes.
It was obvious that the Tunisian team was aiming for a draw from the beginning and that they underestimated the strength of the Nigerian attackers.
Congratulations to the Nigerian team, the three points were well deserved!

And then out of curiosity I searched to know the head-to-head of Nigeria - Tunisia previous matches in the AFCON and from the image the two nations has met 6 times in the AFCON with Nigeria having the reins in the meetings losing just once to the Tunis.

But let concentrate on present nation's form in this tournament, do you all project that Nigeria can extend their dominance by defeating Tunisia in today's match judging by the head-to-head.

These records were when the Eagles were in full formation then, and if you check the score line or records, the goal margin/gap was very big compared to the recent matches both teams had. Although there seems to be improvement on the side of the Tunisia team, I believe the current Eagles are much better in formation to win the Tunis team if they meet again, and it would be a clean record this time that the Tunis team could not be able to win the Eagles in their AFCON league.

If you really take a close glance at the present form of the both teams then it will be very hard to predict whom the victor might have bee.

Because the Tunis were one of the best teams during the qualifiers and I was not expecting the Nigerian team to easily override the Tunisian team

but had rather projected a clash of the titans in this particular match which was actually what played out last night between both nations.

The game with Tunisia was a good game for Nigeria. When Tunisia managed to equalize and scire 2 goals in the second half, I became a bit jittery as I feared they might score another goal and draw the game or perhaps, ride with the momentum, score more and take the win. But I'm glad Nigeria managed to defend till the end of the game securing the points.
I'm also really hopeful on the upcoming game with Uganda. I belive Nigeria can withstand any pressure from the Ugandan side and claim the victory in the end. While Nigeria is seemingly stronger than Uganda, I hope Nigeria would not make the mistake of underestimating their opponents. They should go into that game like they did with Tunisia. Only this time, with a much better defense.

How funny this is already be to me well the super eagles first match was really a funny match because those guys were play tash in the both half, but this last match was a amazing one for that matter because i was not even thinking that the super eagles can expect to win this game because already it sounded like lost at the starting point when the game was about to began the super eagles had already show signs of weakness……

Nwabali is not the problem, it’s a general problem for the super Eagles in terms of their ability to keep a clean sheet in a match. When Nigeria scored the first two goals I already knew they won’t be able to keep a clean sheet in this game because even against Tanzania in their first game they couldn’t keep a clean sheet against the Tanzanian team which for me I think are the weakest team in that group. I think Nwabali needs to slow down on his attitude on the pitch, he thinks he’s already a world class goalkeeper but he’s not yet at that level, if Nigeria have a more better options I believe he will be dropped to the bench. The super Eagles needs to find a way to learn how to keep a clean sheet in this very tournament if they really want to go far.

As we come to end of the 2nd round of the AFCON, we see Algeria beat Burkina Faso 1-0 a penalty goal from Mahrez, Mahrez is actually turning up in this tournament, this is his 3rd goal in three appearances in the AFCON.

Another match on the list today is Ivory v Cameroon, Amad meets Mbeumo, it's going to be an interesting match with the Man United pair matchup. What are your predictions for this match ?

I know there were moments where Nwabali was culpable in the past. For instance, I remembered the game between Nigeria and Rwanda in the World Cup qualifier where he almost gave the opponent an equalizer after Nigeria had fought so hard to take the lead. However, in regard to yesterday's first goal that we conceded, I can't pin the blame on him. There was nothing he could have done about it. He had a slip like you said and the ball was far placed.
