Algeria handled the first half splendidly, retaining the posession as they held the 3 goals scored in the first half down to 90 minutes.

Following Algeria's 1-3 victory over Guinea, barring any changes, Algeria will face DR Congo in the round of 16 in five days' time. The knockout stage will see Algeria face DR Congo, as Algeria is the winner of Group E and DR Congo is the runner-up of Group D.

Nigeria never win a game or a match with their tactics and skills but luck. Nigeria allowing Uganda to scored yesterday made me to believe that they are not well arrange in the AFCON. Don't call Morocco yet. Dr Congo and Senegal can make the unthinkable. I am not wishing Nigeria to loss but their performance is not encouraging. If Nigeria Super Eagles didn't score in the first half, it would be difficult for them to score in the second half. The defense and the goalkeeper is a disaster in the team set up.

I’m convinced you didn’t watch the game or even know much about football. Nigeria is much better than they were in the World Cup. Their performance in the last two games is very reassuring, it’s not a perfect team yet but we now know where we are lacking and hopefully the manager can improve those areas.

If you are reading my texts or comments upside down you have to correct it. I didn't mention in any where and said Nigeria is not better than the way they played in the World Cup Qualifiers and I am analysing the current performance of the Super Eagles and not the past. The current Super Eagles performance is not to my satisfaction. And not only me that discovered it also sports journalists. I can see that you are only viewing the outcome of the present games not the future. You have to ask yourself if the teams Nigeria played with are strong teams or average teams. It is only when Nigeria play with Senegal, South Africa and Morocco, we will know if their performance can withstand with the test of time. I am Nigeria but I am not a sing praiser like you. I will praise them when they have worked on the defense and the goalkeeper. These two things can make Nigeria to leave this tournament when they meet the major teams.

A sport analyst said, If Uganda scored Nigeria, which they would have prevented to the end based on their domination of the game, when they meet the major teams they might lose out.

Yes, Nigeria is sometimes very unserious but I never doubted their victory against Uganda. Either win, draw or lose yesterday, Nigeria will still qualify for the round of sixteenth but despite that automatic qualification I still have confidence they'll win Uganda even with reserve players. What's troubling now is how we are not able to keep a cleansheet in every match we've played. All three games we played in our group, we conceded at least one goal and that's should be a great thing of concern for us. We are very lucky to players who can score goals but we need to have a strong defence that can protect our goal. We initially assumed Nwabali was the problem but yesterday proved otherwise. Perhaps, defenders were the problem.

Nigeria team have been playing an excellent game from the start of this AFCON and it makes many of us wonder how they’re not being able to replicate same performance in the World Cup qualifiers and were not able to get a qualification to the World Cup to be played next year. This is really amusing to many of us that saw Nigeria as one of the potential African teams to book a spot in the World Cup come 2026.

Their performance so far in the AFCON have not being short of great performance but reiterating more on the importance of not conceding any goals is very important, they should work on keeping clean sheets because that will help them going forward in the elimination phase of the competition. They are already showing the best potential for the AFCON triumph, they should keep that hope alive and do well to achieve it.

Why would you even be saying this when it's obvious that our super eagles is one of the best team in the tournament so far, because it's only our super eagles that has gotten a total of 9/9 point, in the competition, so what are you even saying?

If you think that it's because of luck, why it is only our super eagles lucky in the tournament?
I can't deny that our goalkeeper and defense has been making blunders, especially during the Closing stages of our game, but that shouldn't be a criteria to be saying that they are only winning because of luck, don't you know that you sounds funny?

What I was expecting was a congratulatory remark, not a backlash at the Super Eagles, to take their group wins on luck, which sounds ridiculous to the hearing. The thought I think everyone should be having is for the Super Eagles to continue with their wonderful performance as they have advanced to the round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finals should be what we will be thinking of them to get to, to make us proud and happy in this AFCON tournament

I think the Cote d'Ivoire coach took the game for granted too much and made ten changes to the game, Gabon did not really play well and were just lucky to have had those two goals but the Cote d'Ivoire players did not give up at any point and ended the first half better.
I believe Cote d'Ivoire deserves to be top of the group because they gave us a very entertaining game today, Cameroon was good but I don't think that they will be good enough to come back from two goals.

Truth be told this AFCON is actually going as expected if I'm not mistaking like we all can clearly see the expected teams winning games not like the previous AFCON  where you will see an unknown team winning the stronger teams it might look interesting to Manny but I find it hard to like it that way, because they are actually pulling some teams back knowing too well that they can't go no where so I find it irritating, but thank God it's not like that this season and I just hope Nigeria wins it this year, but with the like of teams like Algeria still in the competition I still have this doubting mind if Nigeria can win it.

Not that I am underrating the Mozambique side, but I strongly believe that the Super Eagles of Nigeria are in a better position to win the match and qualify to the next round. I know by now the Mozambique team will be sweating that they got drawn against the Eagles that has maintained 100 percent record in the group stages. Let's watch out for the thrilling games ahead.

The Algerian team was impressive on today's game in my opinion even though they were facing Equatorial Guinea, the weakest team in the group. The next phase will be harder, DR Congo qualified to FIFA World Cup, considering they will not be disqualified by Nigeria appeal. Congo tied with Senegal in the number of points and that's good since Senegal remains a top club in Africa. Algeria should play seriously in this match and try to pass, they are a good team and have good squad.

Truth be told this AFCON is actually going as expected if I'm not mistaking like we all can clearly see the expected teams winning games not like the previous AFCON  where you will see an unknown team winning the stronger teams it might look interesting to Manny but I find it hard to like it that way, because they are actually pulling some teams back knowing too well that they can't go no where so I find it irritating, but thank God it's not like that this season and I just hope Nigeria wins it this year, but with the like of teams like Algeria still in the competition I still have this doubting mind if Nigeria can win it.

Yes they are good in this tournament and they are using all their strength lost in the World Cup in the AFCON. Foe now their performance is appreciated but if they maintained those 3-0s to the end of those games,it would have been better and stronger. I am selecting Nigeria and Morocco to play the final and once that happens, Nigeria will win the Cup. Nigeria is good in disappointing fans and the way they are playing in this time. They might not disappoint us. From next round the tournament will be very tight competition. But Nigeria will overcome and go to the quarter final and to the semifinal and to the final.

The Super Eagles are in a very good form at the moment the coach is going well with the formation he is using so far and the last game also proves that we have own good players that are yet to play big games so I believe with the record we have left in the group stage the semis should be where we should be expecting the guys to get it not winning the competition.

Nigeria and Algeria are the best team in the tournament so far they are the only countries that has maintained a perfect start since the tournament began. Algeria won their match today so they are up there with the Super Eagles. The Super Eagles team is really surprising me I must confess. The number of goals scorers is just impressing me, before the tournament began many were thinking that all our goals were going to come from Victor Osimhen, but so far Victor Osimhen has only scored one goal, and other members of the team are also scoring. This is something we haven't seen in the team for a long time, that's why I am convinced that the team will go far. The coach has to make sure the team improves defensively, because the big games are coming. The tournament is about to heat up and we don't have to relent.

For a lot of us that are from Nigeria, we are really disappointed about the fact that the super Eagles were not able to qualify for the World cup despite the squad we carry,  this was due to some initial mistakes they made during the early part of the World cup qualifiers that later affected them at the long run,  but so far they've been showing their strength and their quality in this AFCON.

Your observation about them keeping a clean sheet is very correct, I've noticed that them not keeping a clean sheet makes their opponent to literally come back into the game and supposedly struggle to equalize them, which very is bad, they need to strengthen their defence to avoid a repeat of such situations.

I know that those players that came to watch Ivory Coast and Cameroon play in the African Cup of Nations are all super stars, and even though they left the comfort of their homes to come show support for their brothers and fellow team mates, I don't see anything special in that because anyone can watch African Cup of Nations matches. I am not blaming them for not playing for their African countries because even if I were in their shoes, I would follow the same footsteps.

That's true because Morocco was in no better even after they have the presence of the foreigner on the stadium with them, at least they ought to have been there best, they draw one match Mbappe could have loved to seen them win as a person who came far from Africa but however it wasn't a disappointment to him as his country could also draw to those kind of country too minor for them, it was Mali they could not win in the group but was still in first position, maybe if they go to final which I'm only assuming would be the best time of Mbappe to come to the second time.

I thought I was the only one who noticed. It’s obvious he doesn’t watch football at least not the AFCON. He’s admitted that he got that perception from listening to pundits. I don’t know which pundit make those silly comments but I’m not surprised, they make their money from being controversial. Still, we should give the Super Eagles their accolades, they are doing very well in the AFCON so far.

I'm from Mozambique, and here people already know that our chances of beating Nigeria are 0%, nobody doubts that. I, for example, have been praying since yesterday that my country's national team wouldn't be drawn against Nigeria because we could suffer a humiliating defeat, and unfortunately we had the bad luck of having to play against Nigeria.

It was a good turn up for them and a bigger achievement in the history as the AFCON begins, since Nigeria or supper eagles didn't qualified for the World Cup this term around, they actually tightening up thier belts in order to give a good and an effective performances in this African cup of nation, I believe even those that were hurts due to thier poor outcome in World cup, by not making it to the world, they would use this great steps of African cup of nation to suppressed thier anger.

However, supper eagles players are performing effectively this season and I was extremely impressed with their performance, by winning greatly and consecutively. Well I know Sudan wasn't expecting themselves to be defeated by Burkina Faso, the match was very intresting to a ome extent and I love the pattern of Burkina Faso's players.
