African teams can't do well in the world cup if they don't build their teams with indigenous coaches, as far as am concerned foreign coaches are just here to make their money and go back to their country. Looking at the countries that has qualified from Africa apart from Morocco I don't see any of the African teams that will go beyond the quarter finals of the world cup. The quality of football that the African teams are playing is not up to teams from Europe and the North America this is just the bitter truth we should tell ourselves.

African terms can actually do well with a foreign coach and the records have been proven overtime that foreign coaches can impact a lot of our national teams this is because football idea come differently especially with experience coaches, however the annoying thing is the fact that a coach of an African team will qualify a team to a World Cup, one month to that World Cup the coach will be replaced with a foreign coach. Another thing I will disagree with you is the fact that African teams will not qualify beyond the quarter final which I disagree is strongly, football does not have a permanent seat for some countries, football is full of twist and turns f

As I was scrolling through on Facebook yesterday I saw a sad news. Michael Eneramo, ex Super Eagles player, passes away on the field after collapsing during a training session in Kuduna State. Let's put his family in our prayers for God to comfort them in this difficult time.

It is indeed sad news. Hearing that he slumped and died on the pitch during a match is quite unfortunate. I suspect that it might be a heart attack or other serious medical condition. He had a properous career playing for Besiktas of Turkey, Esperance of Tunisia, and a domestic club Lobi Stars. There are reports that he was running a football academy in Nigeria. Seeing that he has good intentions for our local talents brings more pain to me.

I pray that the Almighty God would grant him eternal rest and give the family the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss.

Terrible news, according to various media sources Michael Eneramo died of a heart attack. I don’t know his medical history, it’s sad to see a young man that is barely over 40 lose his life. My heart goes out to his family at this time. RIP Legend!

As a sports person, this like this is part of the hazard of the game because if you're not paying proper attention to your body, heart failure can come visiting at the time you least expect. It's such a bad news for someone that's relatively young and still have a lot of potential and love for grassroot football. May God grant him eternal rest and take away negative news from our national team both for the active players and the ex players because it's gradually turning a normal that the rate of negative news is increasing too much.

This is a sad news and I know the family will be heartbroken hearing this news, such a sad news should not come to someone, I feel for the family, what really caused the death, people should always learn to check themselves always in the hospital because you can be carrying sickness with you and you won’t know and when you stress yourself too much you may die, I know a lot of people who die because of this, the cause of his death maybe a health issue he didn’t detect, my condolences to the family they should take heart and make sure they run am autopsy on him to fine out the real cause of his death.

According to the finding of @SatoPrincess she said it was a heart attack he demise from so there might not be need for an autopsy on him if they're already certain of the cause but however even without told the problem the first sickness that could cause a demise to a player on the field is heart attack, there could be other sickness more severe than this but the ones I have witnessed happened to a player is actually this problem so actually I can imagine the sadness and heavy heart it has brought to the family of the demise. Health check up is very important especially if the person is already Diagnosed with heart issues.

May God grant his family the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss. It's high time the Nigerian football body looks into this matter. A few times, players have collapsed on the pitch in action due to health matters, and yet nothing is done about it, and this keeps repeating itself, and our governing body just keeps mute over it as though nothing is wrong with it. I understand that sometimes players would want to be featured in matches even when they know they are not sound, and since the medical team of such a club is not proactive, such a player finds their way to the pitch, and in some cases, the unfortunate happens, and that player is gone. There should be some form of health fitness protocols before any player is featured on the pitch. It is just that our agencies are not that proactive otherwise, most of the things happening would not occur.

Too many loses to the super eagles family in recent times as ex international keep dieing and some times mysteriously just like this case of Michael Eneramo, it's an unfortunate one I can still remember this players in the world cup qualifying between Nigeria and Tunisia in Abuja, it really unfortunate that he died the way he did on a training match. This is not the first time a player has died in a football game due to heart attack, hopefully it will be the last. What a great loss to football and Nigerian Super Eagles, I hardly heard about news on such occurrence that a player collapses and die during or after a football training exercise, do anything is done to happen as long as it's concerns human health, we don't know about his health issue or complications if he had any in the past or as developed one, but I'm using this medium to also sympathize with the family of the bereived, and pray for them to have the fortitude to bear the loss.

You are right, I don't really know about our Nigerian NFF but I believe that every management of a sporting term has it as their sole responsibility of ensuring that their players go through a mandatory health check ups periodically to ensure that they are internally and physically fit for the games..
Like for example, there is a church in my area here that have a football team of their own and they always organise football tournament with other churches and even other clubs that is not church related..
The church take this as a serious business that they even hired a coach they are paying monthly salary and well as some of the players they sourced from outside the church.

How every six months, the church always take all the players including the coach to the hospital for free medical checkup to ensure the health status of the team and this part of why they have a really successful football team.

I hope this is something other clubs learn from, and may the soul of the departed find rest in the bossom of the Lord.

This is very sad and regretted that an ex international that is popularly known across Nigeria and beyond passed on and even our national tv station didn't even made it known to Nigerians, so if their was no Internet or their was no other places someone can stay updated to what's happening around the country, most people wouldn't have been aware of this ugly development, may the Lord Almighty strengthens and console the bereaved for this irreplaceable loss, and may he find peace for wherever his soul is right now, amen.

It's so sad and disheartened for Nigeria to loss Michael Eneramo. No one knows what led to Michael Emerson's death at the moment unless if his family decides to run an autopsy on Michael Eneramo to find out what made Michael Eneramo collapsed on the field and died. Michael Eneramo had good intentions that would have helped a lot of Nigerians achieve their dreams of becoming a professional footballers but death has shut down that pathway.

Maybe this must have been as a result of heart issues because it is very rare to see this kind of cases where a footballer collapsed without knowing about his health condition. He has already retired from active football. The game that led to his death was a friendly match, and he died five minutes into the second half. I might be wrong, but I think he might have been going for necessary checkups after his retirement. In some cases, cardiac arrest occurs without any symptoms. The availability of first aid staff and equipments is also important.

Yes, it's a heart issues that led to the death of Michael Eneramo. After I posted my previous comment on this thread I read through some comments concerning Michael Eneramo's dead and found out that it was heart issues that made him to collapsed on the field and died. Anyone can have heart issues, so everyone should take their health seriously to avoid any chronicle illness.

I really don't know how it's done here in Nigeria, perhaps it hasn't been made mandatory for clubs to always check their players regularly, but in Europe such health check are done every season to ensure the players are healthy, this doesn't mean a player can't develop a heart attack or cardiac arrest but here in our country the chances of the individual surviving such health issues are very slim due to the unavailability or inadequate health facilities to handle the situation and that why the FA need to initiate policies that could help reduce these kind of situations.

To be honest, such sudden deaths are unacceptable. There are usually some specific reasons behind such accident such as: sudden cardiac arrest. So this is nothing new but if premedical screening is made mandatory, such accidents can be prevented. In fact, in many advanced leagues like the English Premier League, regular ECG, echocardiogram, stress test are done for players. But in our country or in clubs, this process is not followed strictly enough which is a big problem. Even if the player takes the field, the players could have survived such accidents even if they had done an initial checkup but it seems that is not happening either.
