Consoling them wouldn't solve the problem, a solution of how they can get out of the addition would, I know it may be hard but we can take one step at a time,

If the addict does not understand his problem sending him to a correction center will be pointless. A gambler needs to know where his problem really is and what is the main reason for his losses in gambling. This is true, because i have tried forcing a friend of mine who is deeply addicted to smoking. I tried as much as i could, not that he didn't listen to my advice rather he ask me to give him some months to think about it, then I ask him that this months you're asking for I hope you won't smoke while thinking about it? He said it is not possible for him to stop just like that, that he might be doing it once in a while until he finally stop it. Then I just realized that his mind is not made up to stop smoking so i decided to let him be but even as that I keep advising him until he traveled and I sensed he hasn't stop smoking till now.
