I know of someone who is so addicted in gambling.who spend his time and all his money in gambling.
Which he is finding difficult to stop or control, irrespective of the consequences that surrounds it, such as relationship issues,lack of finance and emotional breakdown,many people go through so many risks just to be able to fund that lifestyle and majority of them are using gambling as there day to day activities (they make it their job) this set of people or person can loss friends, family and relationship.

Counseling an addict is easy but them stopping is another thing. Most of the gambling addict you see in the society today where once or trice counceld but however they still continued. And morover it is not a most that anyone who faces such gambling addiction problem must be counceld, tht should be an act of willingness and love because a person who doesn't love you will not do such thing. In life everyone is minding their business, so there is no one that is responsible to to do that except if you have the desire to care.

Frequency of gambling too can also add to addiction and not just gambling without some forms of budget and risk management, some one who gambles without much frequency, i mean they do not visit the casino often, they are more likely to not get addicted as much as those who often visit the casino, be it online or offline. if you visit often, the chances are that you will soon gamble without budget or risk management but with impulse. so for me i just see it that it is mostly a thing of frequency before other habit will gradually creep in as addiction does comes with so many other habits that you will sometimes need to mange else it helps the addiction grow even more.

Discipline undoubtedly plays a big role in keeping a person's life on the right track, disciplined behavior can get us out of many bad habits, but the help of professionals or experts is definitely needed. Especially in the case of gambling addiction, when we are already addicted to it, our only way is to always work with the right mindset, be careful and always be disciplined. When someone becomes addicted to gambling, if discipline, family support and necessary professional help work together without neglecting him, then the chances of getting out of the addiction increase many times.

But both in my opinion are bad and can make a mess of survival, addiction of any concept is a bad thing. Neither is better, both lead to the destruction of life. Gambling addiction which is also known as compulsive gambling is an impulse-control disorder. If you’re a compulsive gambler, you can’t control the desire to gamble, even when it has negative consequences, and that the odds are against you, you still press on just because you can’t afford to lose out completely.

There are players who know how to win smart and withdraw their winnings when they can. Such players are much fewer, but they do exist. Addiction most likely develops from uncontrolled gambling, when a player bets more than they can afford to lose, then tries to win it back, and ends up in endless attempts to win it back. Even if they have some good days, it's not enough to win it all back, and the cycle repeats. The most important thing is to avoid this, and not bet more than you can afford to lose.

I don't think it's a good idea if you come across to a random guy or even your friends to give them some advice, but I think it's more beneficial if you help him to go for rehab than just counselling him to help him become a better person.

Giving advice won't help much, but for rehab it would help much to get rid of gambling addiction.
However, if there are no rehab facilities nearby, maybe helping him to go for a vacation far from the casino while counselling him might be a good option to help him to get rid of the addiction.

For a person that cares to listen, advising them is a starting point to helping them because what you would be advising on is about the dangers of what they have gotten into as gambling addict. And it's only by a realisation of the dangers from how you may have given the advice that they would be willing to agree on going for a rehab as the next solution or the vacation where rehab facilities ain't available.

You have to have your own effort, if there is no effort, no matter how much advice is given, just giving advice does not work in things like addiction. Advice only works when we put our utmost effort along with it, when there is responsibility, monitoring and a strict stance when necessary. We are getting advice but if we do not have any effort here, then there is no result here either. So it is also important to have willpower, when you understand the matter and decide to get out of it on your own, then the effect of your own self-effort will be much greater, so at some point you will definitely be able to get out of it.

I don't think in this modern age it will be possible for people to stay away from their mobile devices just because they want to avoid gambling. People still need their devices for other things; it is better to say that the browser used to access gambling sites needs to be avoided, this would be better.

Another thing that will also make this work is that those who are battling with addiction need to learn to make good decisions and be disciplined to stick to them; this is one of the ways to fight addiction. If you are not strong enough to be disciplined in your own decisions, you will always struggle with gambling addiction.

Now I can agree with you, as this is helpful compared to your first statement, which suggested only giving an addicted gambler advice and doing nothing. To me, they need all the help they can get; if a friend is close to them and can distract them from it, then that's going to be way better and an added advantage to make the addicted gambler get off it quickly, especially when they are willing and ready to.

I don't know, but there are some gamblers out there that are being rejected as soon as they started being involved into gambling. Some addicted gamblers are being left out there for many reasons. In short, the relationship of some addicted gamblers to their family are being affected negatively because of their involvement into gambling, and this will put them in a much worse situation because if things come to worse, they can't find any outside help anymore.

Since there are some gamblers who experience this one, it's always best to put them into rehab because there, they will be accepted wholeheartedly and at the same time, they will really recover from gambling addiction ASSUMING that they will not get tempted after being out of the center.

Just like Y3shot said, advice isn't enough to help someone that's already addicted to gambling to stop gambling because the person won't even be aware that he or she is addicted to gambling. What will possibly help a gambling addict overcome addiction is to take the person to the place where he or she won't get access to gambling so that the person will stay without gambling for some time and have a chance of overcoming addiction.

It might be very difficult for some one to quit addiction and most especially when such gambler thinks he or she is making money or finding way to pay his or her bills through the gambling but we know that there are people we can talk a lot more sense to addicted gamblers and they might quit but that will be very difficult. These people are unlikely to listen to advice because they feel things differently. They tell their family and friends that they won't listen to advice and claim they know exactly what they're doing. I'm not a hardcore gambler, but I can imagine the difficulty of their situation from experience. But there's no way to get through to them - it's like throwing peas at a brick wall. Perhaps the best solution for these guys isn't to listen to someone pressuring them with advice, but to simply watch videos about addicts and listen to their stories.
This is the most effective way to get them to reconsider their situation.
