Both advice can work but this depend on the person in question. Some can quit with good advice and mentorship while some can only quit if place on vacation. We have some people that both won't work for. Some addict needs self conviction to change. It is allows better not to become an addict than planning to change.

It's a one step at a time process as one would have to warrant the next phase altogether.because there are those addicts that all what they just needed to realise their addiction and fight it is just a good advice from someone who sympathises with their condition. Well, I was young at that time, and our vacation wasn't just one week but the entire year. I was forced to live there for a year; it was my mother who brought me there because I did some bad things, not only because of gambling addiction but also because of fraternity. I know how hard it is, but eventually I changed a lot because there are many things that did not exist at that time in my province, including mobile signals. So it helps a lot in my case, and my habit changed. If you think this won't work for you or your friend, why not try it? Don't tell him because my mother told me to go vacation there, but they didn't mention how long until I realized that I am going to live there. I can't just go to the city because I see how hard it is to live in the province. My grandfather taught me to plant and catch fish. I thought it was exciting, but doing it on a daily basis is kinda hard for living. I realized on that day how hard it is to earn money; that's why it changed my perspective about gambling.

The main problem is accepting one is already addicted to gambling. You can find a solution to an unknown problem. This is where things become hard to change. Most addict hardly accept they are already addicted to gambling.

I know of someone who is so addicted in gambling.who spend his time and all his money in gambling.
Which he is finding difficult to stop or control, irrespective of the consequences that surrounds it, such as relationship issues,lack of finance and emotional breakdown,many people go through so many risks just to be able to fund that lifestyle and majority of them are using gambling as there day to day activities (they make it their job) this set of people or person can loss friends, family and relationship.

I'm just wondering what would make him take his own life. I think it's due to anxiety and depression, because this is one of the results you get when you are desperate in chasing your losses, and depression kills.

It became natural because there's a lot of cases in this world regarding gambling addiction, and of course we have solutions already so people normalize getting addicted to it. I mean, some people area already chasing dopamine through gambling so I can say that they're already aware of it and prepared incase it happened to them. Addiction shouldn't be normalized because it's already a problem, you don't want it to be a serious tumor to your life just because you're prepared of it.
