Right or Wrong Way :How did you start your gambling journey and how is it going?

I thought it was going to be another post asking, 'how did you start to gamble', but it had twist to it, which was nice to see.

Anyway, I started the 'wrong way', but eventually learned to gamble the 'right way'.

There are few comments here who mention they started the 'right way' — I must call 'em wise  

I started gambling when I was a kid, it was not initially money but toys.  I see my neighbor playing and betting with their toys and got curious.  It was called "kalog tansan" where each participant have their own "pamato" that involves a battle cap (pamato), shaking them altogether,  and throwing them in the air, the one that lands on a different face than the rest wins. So curiosity triggers me to start my gambling journey.

I can say that I started gambling in neither of the options but then later shifted to win, since in this gambling with toys, the aim is literally to win the toys of the opponent.  It goes on until I started gambling with money.  Yes, there is fun in there, but still the desire to win can't be removed.  I bet all of the gamblers here wanted to win. I don't think it was wrong, but one should implement self-discipline and bet not what they can't afford to lose.

Well, in that case, I also started 'gambling' much earlier then, we used to play cards amongst friends and there would be this cricket players and wwe wrestler stickers at stake.

I made the popular first wrong step years back, I lost everything and quickly learnt from my lesson. The fact is many people did the same thing as me but many don't know how to learn from it.

Since that day I knew that gambling isn't for everyone and if you enjoy the game instead it's better to lower the money you want to risk on gambling, there is no way you will go back home empty handed, you lose your money you have some fun.

I started preffering to have a good time and not try to force things out, so far I have had some series of good wins and many losses too but the fun experience was worth it.

yeah,, most people do not get off to a good start, we just dive in to chase wins or publicity.  Early initiation, particularly during adolescence, increases the likelihood of developing gambling problems later on.  And could you imagine what will happen if you having gamblers all around you! !  Casual bettors may be pushed into trouble areas by the pressure of social norms.  Bravo for advancing from a bad start to a wise move.  Games ought to be enjoyable, not life sustaining.  So continue tracking behaviours, establishing boundaries & exercising responsible flex.

I was like that myself. When I first started gambling, I was intrigued by it after seeing my friends win firsthand. So, my initial goal when gambling was to try my luck, but that goal actually trapped me into an addiction that made it difficult to get out, leading to unwanted experiences. But that experience made me aware of how to be better in the future.
Perhaps some people who gamble and struggle to come to their senses need to experience something similar to mine to realize that gambling doesn't have to be about winning.

As far as I remember I played gambling games when I was still young with my friends, like tongits, pusoy, lucky 9 and some games in cards. There were no big wins, but sometimes the games are very addictive; however, I do not think that I am destined to fall into the clutches of gambling. I have too many other needs to spend all the money exclusively on games.

I still remain myself while gambling and I have been maintaining a responsible gambling practice without becoming addicted to gambling or even thought that gambling could make me rich overnight, I don't know if because I have already been hinted or oriented about gambling right time before me taking that bold step to start gambling so I had it at the back of mind to gamble responsibly because then I was always told that I shouldn't placed much priorities to gambling because it is capable of destroying someone's life if time is not taking so I should avoid what would make feels to attracted and addicted to gambling instead I should take it as something to catch cruise while playing it, whether I win or lose I shouldn't for any reason regrets why I lose such amount because i should gambling with the amount I can accept to lose.

It is true that gambling cannot be a part of one's life, it is not at all right to gamble to get back lost money, it is better to gamble with the money we can afford to lose, so that there is no additional financial pressure on ourselves. Gambling is not a scheme to earn money for entertainment or to get rich quick. Greed leads people to destruction, thinking of quick profits increases the chances of losing money through gambling many times. When we gamble primarily for entertainment, we can actually enjoy the fun of gambling.

That's right. You know, I am constantly convinced that everything we reject, and reject with confidence, can sooner or later come into our lives. You don't have to be categorical to judge what we don't know and don't understand. I realized this after I started trying to play gambling games with friends, a little bit after reading posts about how people do have a chance to win, and what's more, they win. Honestly, it's a lot of fun for me. I don't spend huge amounts of money; I have a family, and I can't afford to do it, but the fact that games are addictive and can be very interesting is definitely true. In short, now I try to be more restrained in my assessments. I started gambling for fun, so based on how you define the right and the wrong way, I guess I'm on the right track until now. I had friends who gamble for profit, and since I saw firsthand that focusing only on winning at all costs can be a total disaster for everyone around you, I decided that's not for me. I still believe that gambling for fun without chasing the dream is far better, and without such consequences. I won't change my perspective, and I will always play for fun and not to become a millionaire.

Gambling for fun is far more preferable than gambling for money and this is the difference between the two. When you gamble for fun, you take minimal risk, less expectations and less emotional attachment thsn when you gamble for money. When you're doing it solely for the money, it makes it easier for you to risk more funds into it and have more expectations around it. Gambling for money is good but gambling for fun is the best because even when you gamble for fun, you are still going to make money out of it. During the gambling exercise, if the intention is tied towards having fun, the gambler becomes more competitive but less emotionally drained which serves more of an advantage to you.

The first time I ever gambled, it was a non-skill game. I can remember like it was yesterday when a lady urged me register and play too using her referral link. She claimed she has won huge amount of money already, so I can try as well. It was on my mobile phone, all I needed to do was to spin. First attempt spinning, I had the beginner's luck that ruined everything. After the first win, I kept playing but kept losing my money gradually until I lost interest in the game. The money I played with was not much so it was easy for me to quit unbothered.

Right now, sport betting interests me but truly, I am not dependent on the money I will make from betting on sports. I don't even bet often.

We played before with bets of bottle caps, rubber bands, and playing cards. I just realized now that I was gambling when I was still a kid. We are placing bets, although to our knowledge, it is still a game. There was money that was involved, but indirectly. We are buying those rubber bands and playing cards, and we use them to place bets.
Now I know why my guardian is so angry at me whenever she sees my rubber bands and cards. It costs money to have those, and she knows I've spent my school allowance just for that.

The fun in gambling comes from know the reality about it and choosing to do it moderately. In my estimation, I started to gamble because of the stories of wins that were being shared all around me and I wanted to find out myself. It wasn't about wanting to have fun at the time because if I wanted to, I could have just continued to play my PS5.
How it is going so far? Well I can say very good. I did make a lot of dumb mistakes in the beginning but all thanks to the forum and the discussions here, I am past that now.

If I have to go back to my first "gambling" experience, it was when I was just a child and I staked many tokens in a game where I wasn't skilled (a friend gave them to me) and lost most of them. So I started on the wrong foot too, but it was positive because that bitter sensation remains when I remember that bad experience, and I only gamble for fun now. Nowadays I almost don't care if I lose, because I take the loss for granted and in the end it is just spare money I don't use for other vices. And if I win, well, I get happy, so it's a good deal.
