Youth unemployment is highly variable across countries but many governments are actually making it much harder to employ them. By pushing up the minimum wage, the reward to liability ratio drops - companies decide that it's easier just to go with retirees or anyone else because there is little difference in price, but older generations might be more likely to show up. The real time bomb that is ticking is artificial intelligence and how many jobs it will wipe out. Anyone that has played around with it just a little could understand the power and usefulness that it could be applied towards, if crafted in the right way. It can outperform many designers now and takes very little time to produce content. Same with coding, as long as the person requesting it knows how to trouble shoot it can replace the skills of several people. Imagine this being applied across vast swathes of industry, lots of jobs can be lost that may not be replaced quickly.
This is definitely not true and you got this from a weird source somewhere. Most companies are avoiding elderly employees for many number of reasons, and this is true in most industries. Do you think that they want to hire old and fragile people who are weak to work in the service sector, in places like warehouses and whatever else? They don't. The same happens in the IT industry, most people that age are very outdated with their IT knowledge and very slow. I would take a young developer that is on fire and has good expertise and has already adopted to using AI to improve his productivity over someone old any day.
However, finding a government that truly wants to develop its people and its country is so rare today, especially in developing countries. most leaders only care about power and wealth, they don't care whether their people are employed or whether their wages are sufficient, as long as they have money and power, nothing else matters to them.
so it is not surprising that so many countries, even though they have so many resources and people ready to be managed, are unable to turn that potential into prosperity, because their leaders are incompetent and their people continue to be made stupid in order to become tools that can be used to carry out their power.
This is absolutely true and is one of my key observations too. It does not matter which countries one favors more, USA, EU or some others, the patterns are clear. Most or all governments are making some very ridiculous decisions that are actively harming the prospects of the youth. It can be about jobs, it can be about affordability of an apartment or a house or many other things. It seems that the accountability aspect has been completely lost, at best some of these parties lose support and there comes a change of government but even that change is often corrupted or gets corrupted later. This is not really accountability, as long as politicians are profiting off of bad governance and go unpunished for the harm that they do this will continue. There should be an accountability process at the end of each term where politicians are reviewed based on their activity, work, changes that they brought before they can be allowed to keep their pay and exit the government. Only with something like that would there be some chance to return to a more healthy situation because this trend that is observed across almost all countries can not be a coincidence. It indicates that something is deeply wrong with the current systems that are in place.
