[Appeal] Unban request for account “SportBet.one”

Hello admins,

We would like to sincerely apologize for the recent incident involving our forum account Sportbet.one — https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2660816. Unfortunately, our account was compromised by third parties, and some malicious links were posted without our authorization.

After investigating the issue, we discovered that the attack occurred because two-factor authentication (2FA) was not enabled. The account was created over five years ago, at a time when our former manager overlooked the importance of enabling 2FA. We take full responsibility for this oversight.

We have now fully secured the account, enabled 2FA protection, and reviewed all our internal access policies to ensure that such incidents will never happen again.

We deeply regret any inconvenience caused to the forum and kindly ask you to review our case and restore access to the Sportbet.one account so we can continue communicating transparently with the Bitcointalk community.

We already contacted the forum team via email but have not received a response yet.

We created this new account only for the purpose of filing this official appeal and will not post anywhere else to avoid ban evasion.

It was already predicted that their account got hacked and the hacker started to spread malware using their account. I won't blame you OP for not enabling the 2FA five years ago, because there was no 2FA five years ago. Here is a good piece of advice, whoever had access to your official account should know that their system got compromised and the hacker might have access to their all account credentials inclding emails and social media. They should change the password and flash a new OS as soon as possible. Or they will risk losing their other accounts as well.

It's quite clear why your account was banned, and such cases have been happening from time to time, but a number of members ignore the importance of 2FA. I am surprised your account just got banned and not locked like in this case.

Does your ban message contain any email address you should send a message to? If so, I also suggest you send the message via that email and wait for a response from the admin.

Your ban message may have an email address which you can email. If not, then appeals are unlikely to be accepted.

I believe there is no official email address for the forum, except for the one displayed in the banner message. OP said that they sent an email, so I think they sent an email to the email address they collected from the ban message.

Since they have been accused of a couple of scams, and the number of accusations keeps rising, I want to see them get unbanned as soon as possible. However, I am unsure if a forum member who has their account hacked and subsequently banned for spreading malware can be unbanned. Some forum member on their thread were saying that they should not be unbanned because they posted a link to malware.

I don't think 2FA was available 5 years ago. IIRC, it was added last year as a patch.

I knew about this ban appeal, and I recently came across an account that claims to be a community ambassador of SportBet.one.

If I may ask, are you the official representative of Sportbet.one?
If so, you are not allowed to post with multiple accounts in any section except for your ban appeal thread.

I'm not an official rep or employee, just a community ambassador, so I have nothing to do with any official company accounts or ban appeals.

My question is: Is it allowed to create different accounts with brand names and participate in different boards while the brand account is banned?
If so, a brand may create multiple accounts and ask their staff to operate these accounts. Each of them will claim that they are the community ambassadors.

Another problem would be if the mixers start doing it by creating accounts.

If the accounts are genuinely controlled by different individuals, it is permitted; however, it is difficult to idenitfy whether a company has actually sent multiple representatives to this forum. Consequently, other accounts will not be banned until there is concrete evidence.

All advertisements related to mixers will be prohibited, so creating unlimited accounts is pointless for this type of service.

Hard to tell if they are different individuals. I guess the easiest thing to do is report the account for ban evasion and see what the mods can do.
