Passion or Money: What drives your Career Path

What makes the person not to like the job? Some people may not like a job if they are hearing the work is exposing people to toxic substance that was later dangerous to the health of their workers. So for their health, they may not like the job and look for another job.

Health reason would be the reason I will not like a job. Also low pay may the reason I may not like a job but I am not in that situation although I am not highly paid either but it is better.

If this is about passion or not passion, I do not do job because of passion, I do it for money. Even if it is what that I have passion for, I still dedicate my time for it because of money.

People can be unhappy at their jobs for so many reasons aside from health issues, it could be that the job requires them to go against their morals or that it takes them away from their families and they have little or no time to spend with family (kids and spouse). As our personalities differ so also our reasons for being unhappy at a job differs.

The truth is that we need passion to push our career to make money. The problem we are facing today in our society is that majority of people are looking for money without having passion to fulfill their career. A person chasing money in the wrong path end up becoming poor but a person who chose career will make money find him/her. It's just like a person who take a chick from the hen, and the person who takes the hen form the chick, both are different. Because taken the chick mean that you only get the chick, but taken the hen will make the chick to follow suit. This means that when you chase career you don't only make money  but you attract money. But when you chose money over career you keep on chasing it till internity.

So you are saying that one needs to pursue passion and make it into a career and money follows suit. I support this too, passion makes the best workers, money is a good motivator but it might not force you to bring out the best in you if you’re not passionate about what you’re doing. When you become a master in your field the rewards (money and awards)  start coming.

People take advantage of any available job opportunities because they need to survive.

In advanced countries, people could be supported by the government until they get their chosen job. But poor countries don't offer any welfare package forcing citizens to take any job at their disposal.

Honestly speaking, gone are the days when anyone should be fueled by passion if it doesn't give good results. Some people are passionate about studying a certain course in the university but this is something that wouldn't give them any reasonable job in the future. This is where we make mistakes in investing and being patient. If you only want to make money, then give up your passion and manage a stable source of income. If you want to keep your passion or passion alive, then forget about money for a while and invest in your passion. I can guarantee that if you can engage in your favorite profession and improve yourself there, then you can earn a lot of money.

Money can be earned in all professions in the world and that is to a large extent, if you do the work from your heart and invest yourself there. How do we balance this?

The balancing will come eventually when we're already in a better situation or we've got some foundations already. But, in the beginning, we can't be choosers and this is the sad fact that we have to grab every opportunity that shows us.

What will be your advice to the younger generation?

Keep the drive, be aggressive while they're young. And that's because they've got a lot of time for doing mistakes and to improve. Because when they reach certain age, they're going to be more conservative and they will have lesser rooms for mistakes.

When you have the passion for something, it motivates you to go further and gives you joy when doing it, and because you have the passion you will want to be the best at it and want the best out of what you are doing, so in this situation where you are the best and what you do is been seen and noticeable, it will give you the opportunity to attract more money. But when you do it just for the money, you may feel overwhelmed most of the time, and you won't be motivated to put in your best so that you can have other opportunities.Sometimes, it doesn't work out the way we want it and our passion can not help us with the money we need to sustain ourselves, so in my opinion, both of them are important because they play their roles so the best thing is to balance both by going for what gives you both.

I’ve actually been in that exact spot, torn between doing what I enjoy and going after what pays more. Over time, I realized chasing only passion can leave you broke, and chasing only money can leave you empty. The sweet spot for me has been finding something that pays enough to live comfortably but still connects to what I care about. That way, I don’t burn out chasing either extreme.

When there are no job opportunities aligning to your passion or maybe your dream job, it’s better you look for an alternative because at the end of the day you still get paid. In your new line of job, you might even get paid a high income enough for you to live comfortably, so you later find yourself developing more interest and likeness for the job until it then becomes your passion. For example there are persons that study law in school and really have the passion to become a lawyer but at the end find their self working as a banker in a bank, loving their role and job, growing passion for the job. I would advice if what you are passionate for isn’t available for you to do then go for what will give you good money because at the end of the day everyone just want to earn a living regardless if it’s where you dreamt of working or not.

Most people will choose money because they can use it to survive. Those who have passion are not many compared to those who search for money. They think that if they have a better job with a high salary, they can have a better life. That is not wrong because they have their own opinion.

But if they have a passion for their job, they will be creative and have many ideas to grow the business. When the business grows, that will affect their rank so they can rise to a higher rank in their office. But not many people realize this and they are just grateful if they work in that office without having a passion to reach a high level.

We can suggest that the younger generation has a specific skill which many companies need so they can have broader vacancies. Not many younger generation have these specific skills because they want the easier thing to reach. That will depend on how the younger generation responds to the situation.

If they want to have a better salary, they should have more skills so their chance to have a better job will be wide openly.

To be honest the two are very important in this regard, we can't be shouting passion when there's nothing to show for it, this is something we haven't handled well and more appropriately in our commercial line, we could have passion for doing something, which is not bad, but also consider how productive it has been over time on us, because there's nothing like passion when we have been on the same issues for long without anything changing or a way out, we are even going to lose the passion and money on for something else more better.

If you live in an undeveloped country like me, passion will be the least thing you look out for while sourcing for a job. We work to survive; may the best salary win. I will say passion is for those that have their lives together, and mostly do not need to earn from their passion. While we work because we want to get paid, in the long run we get used to such jobs, and over time we begin to like what we do. Yeah I get your point too,  but just like some other members have said You have to start early when you’re young  to start building and growing your passion, so you have enough time to make mistakes and better them, so before you reach a certain age where you’ll start reaching for survival and doing whatever pays, you must have grown your passion into something worthwhile.
Some persons get high paying jobs to foster their passion and when it’s grown and able to sustain them, they leave their job to focus more on what they love.
Just like I’ve said before there are jobs that really require you to be passionate about it if not you’ll just be overwhelmed and see it as stress oftentimes.

Generally, most people barely care about passion these days, because the world only recognizes those who have money. Even in society, you are respected based on how much money you make and not for what you do. This is why most people only choose career paths that they believe will make them more money instead of going towards things that they like to do in general and have a passion for. In the past, people used to study things that they liked, they wanted to graduate in subjects in which they had an interest, but now, things are different, people want to study things that they believe can give them a better career.

If you ask about my personal opinion about this, then I believe it's much better for a person to follow their passion instead of running behind money, because if you can manage to monetize your passion and start making money by doing what you like doing, you are lucky and blessed, because not every person gets to make a life out of what they like doing, passions often end up being hobbies, and people keep trying to keep them alive in their lives but they barely manage to make a life out of them, so if someone can do that, it's great.

If your passion also helps you make money, then you must move forward to develop your passion. Otherwise, if your passion isn't helping you to make money, then move forward to earn money. Once you have enough money, you can continue your passion too. Without money we are useless, especially for a man. There would be some passion, like singing a song. If you can develop yourself, then it's possible to earn money from singing a song and become a singer. So you will have both money and passion as well.

To the younger generation, don't underestimate your passion, but aim also at earning money. As I said before, if you don't have money, people will not evaluate your passion anyway. I understand you very well but I guess op is even talking about after education. You won’t keep saying you must do a job that is aligned to your passion, yes that is fine but considering the fact that there’s no much job opportunities this days and what you’re passionate about might not actually come, it’s better to go for what will give you good money and at the end of the day you end up loving and even having passion for that job.

Yeah in our Society today, when it comes to choosing a career, people often find themselves in a dilemma between passion and money. Which one is more important and which should you prioritize?

Money motivates me more than passion. At first, I was thinking that it was better to follow my passion but passion didn't bring me money, I wanted money to buy things. Then I gave up on my passion and instead decided to earn some money, I discovered that I could buy things that I wanted and when I took my salary and bought what I wanted, it motivated me very much. Over time, when you develop your skills and earn more, you also build tolerance towards your work and you no longer feel as stressed as you did in the beginning because what you do isn't your passion. When your income grows over time, that feels very sweet.

Honestly in the kind of society we live in today passion doesn't actually pay the bills money does. so instead of picking passion over money, I would rather go with both.
After all, while hustling and making your money you would eventually start developing passion and the drive to do more. The system doesn't reward passion it rewards survival and smart money moves. In this current era, money is more important than passion. Passion is good but most things we have passion for doesn't give us a considerable level of money , for instance you have passion for a particular thing and you went for interview and you were told the thing you have passion for that the pay is low and there's another vacancy and that one's pay is high less say X3 of the one you have passion for, my dear you will find out that you will take the highest pay job than your passion own because the money will solve problems and make you live comfortable.

There are people who started doing a job they don't have passion for but along the line they began to have passion for it because of the money they are getting from there.
