As freelancing and remote work expand, is the stable, long-term job model collapsing?
In my environment or my country there are still many jobs that work 8 hours, but this is more applied in large companies such as factories or PT, because if with ordinary jobs such as employees of restaurants, coffee shops or others they tend to work longer hours even I once asked someone who works in a restaurant if he works for 12 hours sometimes more than 12 hours. Actually, in my opinion working for a full day is not a problem if the salary is in accordance with working hours but in my environment there are quite a lot of jobs outside factories or PTs where the working hours are all day but the salary is not much and with those who work I understand because it is difficult to get a job so they have no choice but to do it rather than not having a job at all. That is the thing though, some might take advantage of their employees working more than 8 hours and not being paid in accordance to their work. But for traditional 9 to 5 office or corporate jobs, it might be very different as there are a lot of bonuses and perks specially if the company that you work for are big. It could be that there are cases that some job could be redundant, not obsolete. And that it can never be replace by anyone like an AI or something. As human we want socialized, in a environment like what we called office and it will not be obsolete especially for developing countries.

No offense, but people who have this mindset usually lack good knowledge and qualifications, or they don’t put in the effort to get a good job. Because in general, the highest paying and most stable jobs today are still 9-5 jobs, with only a few exceptions in the freelance and remote work.
The problem is from how the remote jobs are advertised. Most people make it look as if once you learn a digital skill, you'll start earning thousands of dollars every day. It's the same way a narrative has been set on forex trading. So now, a lot of people's belief is that once you go into those skills, you will start earning so much money. They make it seem very simple and easy, but the reality is different. Before you start making money, you need to have grown in the skill and gotten a lot of experience, which is not too different from a regular 9-5 job. A remote or freelance job is more flexible, of course, it gives more time for yourself, and you can work other jobs too, but making money is not as easy as people make it seem. If you don't put in the work, you wont get anywhere.

Firstly, to get much salary payment from remote job depend on our skill if have good skill I believe easily get many kinds of remote job, but if low skill I don't think easily with remote job. Last years many remote job in cryptocurrency become ambassador team at telegram channel, discord channel and must manage the several social media of project coins but firstly we have knowledge about cryptocurrency. Its can earn up to 500$ until $1000 when becoming ambassador social media channel of cryptocurrency project coin. For remote job I think can handle around 6 to 8 jobs but depend how to manage time during several project have difference time zone with our country exactly from Asian, but priority with healthy and manage as well as around 3 to 5 job only because we need time for taking rest without fully working although as online but our brain need rest not fully day working.

You can't have a cook or a construction worker doing their job remotely no matter how much tech we get The physical jobs need people on site and Apocollapse imthegreat and summonerrk hit the nail on the head about freelancing It's not the dream job everyone thinks it is
That lack of schedule and clients messaging you at 10pm on a Saturday sounds like a nightmare for most people stability and separation between work and home like imthegreat mentioned is super important for a lot of us especially when you have a family and bills you can't rely on clients paying whenever they feel like it
I think both coexist and the 9-to-5 will just get a little less demanding as companies try to compete with the remote perks

That is not going to happen. The government won't allow that because like for instance, government jobs are mostly done 9-5 so if this traditional type will collapse, then the government cannot maximize their government services for the people. Also, majority are still not inclined to online transactions so there is no way that traditional type of job will end up collapsing, otherwise that would create panic to a lot of people especially if they are at risk of losing their long term stable source of income.

Dont forget all people who have children. 9 to 5 job is their solution to have work done and have someone watch after their children. If there were no 9 to 5 job, what would all those do who work from home? I have experience of working from home during covid, when one child require attention because he is too little to do something on his own (and letting watch cartoons whole day was not a solution), then other child was having online school (and such children require discipline, because find that online education as holidays), additionally to all that time must be spend on cooking.

No, I don't think so. It's kind of an interesting question though considering the number of people who have transited to remote/online jobs since the COVID incident. But the truth is, 9-5 jobs are still very much common, and are still relevant today. Some of these physical jobs can't be done remotely. Honestly speaking, I don't see 9-5 jobs becoming a thing of the past. There are companies that would still demand for such working timeframe no matter how advanced we become. As time goes on, we might eventually see some balance, or a shift, because humans prefer doing things that are more flexible and are less time consuming, and a decent number of remote jobs offers that.

There have been some government concern on freelancing job in my region. The ones got to me yesterday, the government actually reached out to those companies, coming to an agreement to impose a tax on freelancers and remove workers in my country. This is not fair. In a situation where the tax fee is expensive, the system will become less saturated to the extent, companies will start looking for remove workers and they wont find anyone suitable to do the job properly.

No they are not collapsing, those jobs will always remain in demand. Not all jobs will require people to work remotely and you should also understand that the nature of jobs of different industries are different. Those jobs that demand physical presence of the employees will always be there. Jobs like manufacturing, banking, fashion industries etc, are part of 9 to 5 jobs. Can you imagine these sectors becoming obsolete in the economy of course no.

Traditional 9 A.M to 5 P.M jobs (professional jobs are exclude) generally require formal qualifications, remote work requires a robust portfolio and careful consideration of personal skills. Some people are denied opportunities to join industries, institutions, and other conventional jobs due to their low level of formal education, not to mention the practice of nepotism (which will continue to perpetuate these types of jobs). As circumstances and a sense of responsibility force them to be productive in adulthood, remote work provides a niche.
But, as long as there's a desire to pursue education based on diplomas and degrees, traditional jobs will remain sustainable.

As freelancing and remote work expand, is the stable, long-term job model collapsing?
Nope, and TBH, there are still people that would still prefer the traditional 9-5 job than being a freelancer. Yes, the number of workers who prefer working from home increased since the pandemic happens, but still, some people prefers to work on-site or at least the traditional one that we know. For them, working from 9-5 gives them job stability, and because it's stable, their income can be predicted as well. Aside from that, majority of them have benefits from their employer as well such as health insurance, some paid leaves, and more. Most of the freelancers don't have that kind of thing. Also, there are some workers that prefers working on-site because they want to have a daily interaction with other people. I don't see the traditional job model collapsing and on the other hand, not all workers can become a freelancer as well so... yeah.

The reason 9-5 jobs are still popular in our lives is because they are a necessity for some people who don't have other jobs. Actually, this job is not a choice, but part of the necessity due to having no other choice. I once asked an individual who does freelance work like this, this job is not his dream and is only temporary. When he has another job he will leave it to move on to a better job.

Most people see online work or remote jobs as an instant money machine because of how it’s advertised you are right many influencers or online coaches only show the reward side never the effort side they post big screenshots of their earnings without showing the countless hours they spent building portfolios networking with clients or handling rejections for every one person who makes quick money online there are hundreds still trying to land their first gig. Remote work needs both skill and discipline it’s true that the flexibility is great but that freedom can easily turn into chaos if you don’t manage your time properly people forget that working remotely still means working you need deadlines structure and consistency just like a traditional job. And yes pay depends heavily on your skill level those who specialize in high demand fields like web development ui design blockchain marketing or copywriting can earn a lot more especially if they have proven experience or a strong online presence newcomers however need to start small build experience and grow from there.

As freelancing and remote work expand, is the stable, long-term job model collapsing?
Online jobs may be increasing in demand but that doesn't mean that the traditional 9-5 jobs are getting obsolete. You are wrong there. In fact, many people are still dying to get a 9-5 job. Online jobs may be here today and could be more visible in the next years, but hey traditional jobs are here forever. So there's no way that it'll turn obsolete, since traditional job makes the main job, while online job serves a side income only. The 9-5 jobs might not be prevalent anymore in the Advanced societies but it's ubiquitous in many third worlds, which like you said may people do enjoy doing it. And for 9-5 jobs to be obsolete it has to correspond with the level of technological literacy among persons in that society because not everyone can work remotely save they're computer savvy and online smart.

As freelancing and remote work expand, is the stable, long-term job model collapsing?
A lot of people exist in a bubble and see the world through their own lense - like if you're doing these things you expect everyone else is too. However I don't see the world changing as much as all the tech companies would like to hype up. You still need store assistants, security guards, lawyers, tradesmen, oil drillers and any number of other job types to actually keep the digital world running. There might have been a slight shift and there is more support for remote working especially after COVID, but that only applies to a certain slice of the jobs market. There are still plenty of long term and stable jobs out there.

As freelancing and remote work expand, is the stable, long-term job model collapsing?
The essence of the process is that the world is changing, and so are technologies and approaches to work. Where work remains on a schedule from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., it is shift work, work related to performing actions at a specific workplace on a schedule, etc. Although, for example, in some large ports, crane operators unloading containers work remotely! But on a schedule. Many other professions can be performed remotely with the same quality. Plus, it's an added motivation for employees — they don't have to spend several hours every day commuting to and from work, and they can spend more time with their families...

As freelancing and remote work expand, is the stable, long-term job model collapsing?
Since the emergence of remote work with the mass orientation to freelancing, a lot of concepts have been changed since then, especially those related to full-time stable jobs. It isn't anymore necessary for individuals to rely on classic long-term jobs to reach the financial stability, as the freelance becomes an available reliable option for many. However, this doesn't mean the fixed job model has been entirely collapsed. It becomes obvious that remote working in some sectors has been in expanding growth, while other fields still depends on classic job models.

As freelancing and remote work expand, is the stable, long-term job model collapsing?
9-5 is a stable source of income, while most people are comfortable under a stable income from 9-5 jobs others are not, most people leave 9-5 because they found a more paying stream of income or they were not able to make the 9-5 job offer, so they decided to learn freelancing. Good to know that 9-5 isn't as stable, sometimes companies tends to drop workers from the job, keeping many people unemployed. A 9-5 employee can also have a freelancing job that he does using free times, it is better having multiple streams of income.

No, The current system of freelancing and remote work are pretty much versatile in the modern day era while the traditional work system is gradually reducing because civilization and latest technology is taking over, there are those that still strongly believed in the old ways which are many in numbers, and there are also many who sits at home facing the screen throughout the day. What I can figure out is that, different body conditions of many chooses the kind of work system that favors him, and the security of the job also matters mostly too.

It's funny that it's called 9-5 because here in Europe most people actually work 8-4 Yes less and less people choose this kind of job because people see how much time they lose to commuting, which is why so many people now work from home or choose freelance jobs. There are still things you can't do from home, but many people that I know resigned from their old jobs and chose flexible hours. One guy drives an Uber, one bought a tow truck. They both sit at home whenever they want and go to work when they feel like it. Sometimes it's in the morning, but sometimes in the evening or at night. They get to spend as much time with their families as they want.
