As freelancing and remote work expand, is the stable, long-term job model collapsing?
It might paint this picture, but in reality I believe the populations are outgrowing the jobs.. Secondly, technology is at the centre of this has it's making some jobs obsolete as factories are upgrading to use tech to improve productivity, cut costs and make more money for the investors and all stake holders. Btw some job niche's can confirmed to be on a decline depending on which part of the world, otherwise some jobs a human reliant and this won't be replaced easily.

Yes, it is a problem, but it is also something that cannot be eliminated because not everyone works for large companies that implement working hours from 9 to 5. For the lower middle class, those who live in hardship will try to survive and that is done by working hard, such as doing anything to earn money because they have to meet their living needs to survive. Everyone has their own rules, but basically, normal work is only eight hours.
In few countries this 9 to 5 is symbol of slavery as landlords feel they are still living in Stone Age and have right to do anything for their own sack just because of this I am not expecting it's going to end even in near future because many countries fail to bring changes which are essential for middle class and lower-class peoples. Changes are happening but still its not on equal basis for all which is the problem as community things are not working because money working by its own which is always helpful for few peoples of society computer and new digital things are having impact but not like all can adopt this easily. This 9-to-5 thing is still having impact so it's not going to change as mention for survival its always pay.

Could it be that while remote jobs are going on expansion, this 9-5 job will still be in demand and will continue to serve an opportunity to the jobless people? Because for me, I see it that way. The other should not be the reason for the other one to collapse, instead both should still work hand in hand as they are still both providing job opportunities to the people regardless if its online or offline.
This traditional job won't reach the point of becoming obsolete, because that's the right thing.

I get the feeling that many people come to the forum and make money here, and they think that other remote jobs will be similar. But in reality, not many remote jobs are that simple.
I agree with this. Whenever people talk about money or financial problem, people in this forum usually suggest to seek for freelance jobs, I'm curious how they can think freelance jobs is like something easy to get. If I ask them which freelance jobs they do except in this forum, I'm sure they will not able to answer my question because this forum might be the only "freelance job" they can work. I have been in the same situation, I see some people advising others to find freelance or online jobs. They even say that online jobs are not as hard to find as office or manual jobs and also pay better. They talk like they are experts in the field of remote and online working. However, when I asked them what remote work they were doing besides working at the forum. They were silent. Whether it is the online world or the real world, from working to investing, nothing is easy. Making money has never been easy.

There will always be construction workers, health professionals, teachers, firefighters, etc, whose jobs engage physical tasks. These jobs are important to the functioning of society and not just reserved for those who are jobless. The perception that, because of the expansion of online jobs, offline jobs will become obsolete is wrong because both of them will continue to be in high demand in society.

I think that even though remote work is growing well, it won't completely replace the 9-5 job. We say it's difficult to find a physical job that only sets 8-hour work hours, but even so, I think there will still be people who try to get it, as well as companies that I think occasionally open vacancies, but quite rarely. Furthermore, there are also jobs that can't be done online, so online work will still exist, perhaps like traditional customs, just like cash and digital payments, both work, but one cannot be eliminated.

As freelancing and remote work expand, is the stable, long-term job model collapsing?
I think yes, because there’s no longer as much need for human labor or human activity for that long. I’m excluding workers who rely on physical strength, but especially for office workers at desks.... how many hours are they really working each day? I believe, sooner or later, the concept of fixed working hours will change.

Collapsing? No, because here in my country, people seek job opportunities. They still like to work in offices or companies although some take part time jobs after going back home. Those people think that working in an office means they are really working even though some older people still think that working should be outside the home.
They can't accept the reality that some people work from home by remote work or freelancing. But when people who work remotely share their salaries, others can't believe it and curious about it.
But in the future, this type of job will expand and more people will realize that they can earn money from home.

I think it has nothing to do with it at all, traditional jobs or permanent jobs with structured hours and stable salaries are still a priority for many people to get, it's just that with the many online jobs or those with flexible hours, it makes it easier for people to find side jobs, that's the big difference now and many people do that to increase their income and of course permanent jobs will never be let go except for someone who has achieved financial freedom.

I’m excluding workers who rely on physical strength, but especially for office workers at desks.... how many hours are they really working each day? I believe, sooner or later, the concept of fixed working hours will change. Office workers who do desk or on-site work include not only bankers, accountants or consultants, but also professions such as police officers, teachers, engineers...Among them, professions such as doctors, nurses and teachers are jobs that require direct human supervision and are almost impossible to eliminate. Not to mention, manufacturing industries still require humans to operate machinery and equipment no matter how advanced AI and robotics technology becomes. So, in my opinion, no matter how much remote working develops, the 9 to 5 job can never be completely eliminated.

They are not, and they will not in years to come. People will be choosing the one preferable for them. For me personally by choice, 9-5 is not for someone like me. It could be for someone else who loved to work and get paid at the end of the month. For someone like me, I can't give my whole time to a job that will keep me in a stock in a place, having me under their roof, to give me command, to monitor and have me controlled on the things to do or not to do. I don't like such. I like to dedicate that whole time to my own job. So that whatever amount I get, it enters my pocket, not someone else's pocket. That feels better that way than working your ass off, to be paid a little amount as salary for your whole effort.

I think job mindset is common in most of the countries because middle class families want a stable job because they don't have enough money to start any business and they are many fields in which people want to want to work and they want to make their career. Online work is not easy but it looks like online workers are earning thousands of dollars in a night but actually that is not possible and people are giving their all effort to earn more and their eye side is weaking day by that because that is work of concentration and people have Many diseases because their mind is not working properly. People should work on their health and that is reason they are doing physical workout because it is necessary but job people always do work and there are less chances of getting disease in young age .

The traditional 9-5 job is useless. There are many reasons for this. It's completely inefficient for employees and businesses. They work with low motivation and low energy, which is unprofitable for businesses. The 9-5 workday is not productive, but a purely control mechanism. This has become an old-world habit and is slowly becoming a thing of the past.

Traditional 9 to 5 jobs still works fine , it’s just that a lot of people are into freelancing, side hustles and being their own bosses. But in real life offices are still full, companies are still hiring people and people are still earning salaries monthly. But the thing is some people just want a stable job where money comes steady, they close by evening, go home and rest . It doesn’t mean the 9 to 5 system is collapsing, it’s just that people have more choices now.

Jobs lost because of AI > Jobs created by AI That is why many people are worried already. Not really, just like when the internet, email or smartphones were invented, many people also feared they would make many people unemployed. But as we can see, the number of jobs it creates and the number of people who earn money by using it are far greater than what it has replaced. Likewise, I believe that the development of AI and technology will also create more jobs in the future. Technology doesn't take away opportunities, it doesn't take away our jobs, it just moves them from one place to another, from one form to another. Our task is simply to update our knowledge, skills and adapt if we do not want to be eliminated.

It is not everyone that can make it through freelancing and remote job so there are people still involved in 9_5 job, and there are people that are very involved in 9_5 jobs because they love it as it is more fulfilling for them but they still get to do freelancing or remote jobs because the pay is higher and less stressful. 9_5 jobs are stressful but we still see offices full of people and that shows that 9_5 jobs are still valuable because freelancing is honestly not for everyone to do, traditional jobs and digital jobs can both co exist alongside each other so no one is taking the other out of the way because no matter how advanced the technology gets we still need traditional jobs for a certain people to fill it.

With more and more things go digital today, it is only easier to find an online job, which is more like a side job, part time job or individual orders. Imo working online isnt a stable job. I havent heard much stories where people were working online for ages, got promoted or built careers. Only some individuals and limited professions allowed to achieve that. Working 9 to 5 or from the office gives me a feeling or guarantee or long working relationships. Working online gives me feeling that I always must be ready to search for new or more job to do.
I don't think finding a job online is easy if you don't have certain skills or expertise. But I agree that online work is often less stable than office work. Also, most online jobs are based on short-term contracts or project based work. So, it is true that people who work online rarely have the opportunity to advance and build a long-term career. For those who like stability and want to have opportunities for advancement, they will definitely never choose online jobs. It can be said that online work has certain advantages but also many disadvantages. It is not superior and perfect to completely replace the 9 to 5 job as many people think.
