If prayer really worked in gambling, everyone would be busy praying, betting, and going to mosques, churches, and temples. Gambling is truly a game of luck, there is no charismatic power at work, no divine power at work, no magical power at work. If magic were at work in gambling, then of course everyone would be busy learning magic. If some divine power were at work, then everyone would be busy gaining divine power. Gambling is a type of uncertainty in which you cannot decide for yourself whether you will win or lose after placing a bet.

I'm praying in every situation I'm in, including gambling, but I'm not playing to win if it's not meant to be, and I'm not falling into the temptation of betting what I can't afford to lose.
There's no wrong in praying even in gambling. Mine is about being safe because gambling is risky and the result is uncertain, so I don't always pray to win, but to be safe and win if it's meant for me.

An important detail I would like to understand about this story, what exactly did your friend Frank pray for?
Did he pray for him to leave the casino without doing any damage or did he pray for him to win something?
Because they are two completely different requests, one could change your life for the better with a big win, the other (the one I think realistic) that leaves the casino without having committed any damage.

So my suggestion is that you can do what your friend did. let's say you make an experiment with 10 bets, so you prayed 10 times. Let's see how many bets from that 10 bets will be success like what your friend did.

The thing that matters in your friend's case is his luck, not because he's praying. Think about it logically.

I mean I can understand the gesture yea but I'm certain it doesn't change the outcome of the game. Check it out, someone else who is in heavy debt from that same casino probably prayed before entering the casino as well, even before we placed a bet but he is debt, so you see how praying doesn't affect anything, more or so it it worked like that then everyone would start praying and then be cashing out daily then. Your guy just wanted to believe in something stronger than himself, no harm in doing everything possible just to win in life, your know, but it doesn't in any way affect gambling.... gambling is still based on probability.

What he did wasn't significant to anything, neither did it influence any sort of reaction, luck or favours like you may assume.. I'm sure that at this point, we all know the differences between people living an illusionary lifestyle, and people living in the real world right? How's this even a topic to discuss about? If prayers added more wealth to gambler - religious leaders wouldn't have succeeded in abolishing gaming, too many followers won't respect the rule. Since all they need is pray and get paid. There is no scientific basis for that. If it were true, word would have spread and all bettors who are believers would pray before betting, but that is not the case. The point here is that suggestion works wonders.

It is true, because if prayer gives you guarantee wins, every one would be praying while gambling, and casinos and betting platform would go bankrupt since. But at the same time, I won’t completely say prayer is useless.  it just doesn’t work the way people expect. Prayer is not a shortcut to win gambling, and should not be banked on when gambling..

At the end of the day, gambling is still luck mixed with your choices. So expecting prayer to magically change the outcome of a bet? That is where people deceive themselves.

This is the first time I've had a question like this, it's funny,    I don't mean to offend you, op, my answer is simple, maybe it's not because the prayer is effective and gives victory but maybe it's because the prayer makes your friend much calmer in playing gambling so that his choice is closer to luck, but I'm not sure that because of the prayer he always succeeds, you can prove it before you gamble and compare the final results if they are the same maybe God did not hear your prayer.

This is really subjective and the answer depends on each person's beliefs, especially for those who gamble and then pray but the religion they adhere to prohibits gambling, I would wonder whether he was right or wrong in what he did. LOL

Praying is a form of calmer behavior in gambling, just like people who hope they will win in their gambling "I hope to win today" is the same, if you question it, it is important or not depending on how you feel, but for me it isn't.

If we evaluate how religious (Catholics) in reality gambling is not contemplated, in fact my question before was specific, if you pray to God to accompany you in this "experience" dangerous for your spiritual health and lead you out of danger without harm, the prayer could have an effect, otherwise if you pray to God to win money I believe it is not contemplated, obviously I am not a theologian but this is my personal thought.
I don't think God is generally a coin-operated machine, where you pray "put the token" and grant the wish.
