Does prayers really work in gambling?

The title of this thread made me laugh. OP, I always thought religion taught people to avoid greed, self-interest, the lust for profit, and so on. Perhaps you and I have different religions, and your idol will be on a hundred-dollar bill. Forgive my cynicism, but religious people who truly know everything about religion will agree with me. Don't confuse human passions and their sins with prayers. Your prayers should be for you to be honest with your loved ones, not serve mammon, and everything related to that. Prayers for gambling are possible, but they have nothing to do with God.

It sounds funny, but for some people it is indeed effective. By praying, they play more confidently and there is no doubt in their hearts because they feel that God will give it to them. If I were in that position, it would be completely ineffective because gambling is clearly forbidden by God, so there is no point in praying, God will not give it to them.

I believe in God, but sometimes when I'm gambling, I pray unconsciously, and when I win, I feel helped, hahaha.

Gambling and God are unrelated, but for most gamblers, praying makes them feel comfortable and believes that every activity they do is being watched. In my opinion, that's a very foolish act because it won't work. From my perspective, praying for money through activities that are considered unethical and inappropriate, as most religions forbid or consider gambling a sin, and I don't think it will work.
Gambling can ruin your finances and can also potentially become an addiction, which will only make things worse, and I think it's very contradictory. So, it's better not to do it because it won't work. And you'll still lose if it's not for your luck, and the question is, when you keep praying and keep losing, will you blame your prayers and God for not giving you victory?

Some religions don't forbid gambling. I have attended a religious celebration where one of the major programmes is gambling. Funds realised from the gambling activities are used to fund the church project and for charity. 

Not only gambling, but any activity or behavior could also ruin your life if not put under control. Food, alcohol, movies, games, etc, should be done moderately to avoid addiction. Some people assume that prayers could trigger luck; it might be true or wrong. It becomes foolishness when you only pray and don't do your own part.

Who should a person pray to make prayers work? To gambling God or to a God in our normal understanding? But that makes no sense, as greed is one of the sins, and gambler pray God to help him to win because of his greed? That is a twisted logic. Praying doesn’t actually change the odds in gambling. Games are based on chance, math or house rules and not faith. Some people pray because it helps them feel calm or hopeful but it won’t improve your chances of winning.

You've said very valuable things that only a few people can understand who actually are practical and know that prayers can't really change odds of a match and thus there's no chance that they will be able to change house rules or house edge. Your friend was lucky, nothing more. I'm a christian and I do pray too, not before I start gambling but for the day to be blessed in anything I'm doing for that day, but even with that, if I gambling that day, I will either win or lose, the house always win, that's what we know. Maybe if you pray, a voice inside of you could warn you not to gamble for that day and if you go against that little voice, you might lose all your money, but if you obey, you won't lose that day because you didn't gamble.

Praying before gambling isn't a guarantee of winning. Essentially, if we're unlucky, I don't think any strategy or ritual we employ while betting will guarantee victory. In gambling, luck is the key to victory. Your friend's remarks might just be a joke, because sometimes when we're hanging out, some of our friends often joke around to lighten the mood.
Praying before doing something can sometimes have positive results, but I don't think this applies to gambling.

It is normal as a human we are to pray before gambling and which so many will no believe that prayer can be answered when it comes to gambling, i will used myself as a case study, when i graduated from school and after my final year examination i was asked to come back and paid $20 fee if not i will still reseat for next year examination, and that point i don't have money from anywhere but i was having $2 with me, which i went forward looking for help but know no body since to have the $20  in that particular point, then i pray on the $2 that i have with me, and i went to a sport betting shop and booked a game that the odds was so high and even when my friend saw the booking code, he conclude that the game will not play with those high odds i gather, i didn't listen to him and i placed the game with $2, do you believe with the prayer i placed on the money before booking the code, the bet played as i predicted it and that my friend was the one that my games has played the finished, that it is unbelievable for such odds can deliver,  so i cash out the money and i went to school straight to do payment so that i can fully graduate from the high school, so in my conclusion prayers works for gamblers depending on how place your prayers, and mostly it work very fast when you God knows you don't have any orders options to use than gambling.

You would not completely connect gambling with prayers because you would not say God supports gambling or changes the results in your favour. You do not expect to gambling blindly and impulsively after praying and expect a favorable outcome, it just does not work that way.

I think it’s possible that waiting inbetween bets has an affect on the bets outcome because it didn’t happen any earlier or later. So by using that logic my answer would be yes because praying would cause the time of when you placed the bet. Event based bets excluded

If you prayed and the prayer did not help you achieve what you wanted, it does not mean that you should doubt your faith. I think this is not something you should turn to every time you need something. Try to use prayer only in the most critical situations, when you truly and deeply need help. Then I believe, it will have greater value. However, people view faith, prayer, and how it should work for them in different ways. So everyone will always act according to their own beliefs.

And if God will grant our wish, then everyone here should be millionaire. Just imagine we pray that we win the lotto with hundred of millions or even a billion, then what's happened next? So this is really a misconception, maybe we can pray and try it, but it's not going to a guarantee and it will just a luck or coincidence on your side. But if we believed on God then we should just pray that we will have a healthy life and not just pray for our gambling activities. And as what some of my old and traditional grandmother or grandfather, you just don't know, maybe who you are praying is not God but the devil himself so be praying on what you wish for.

If football players or boxers or any athletes pray before a game, it gives them confidence and often affects their performance positively. But do gamblers need confidence? I'm not sure about that. Rather, I think confidence is what can turn a simple game into disaster. When you are sure that after a prayer "god will help you win big", you keep playing and losing money even after you've already lost what you can afford to lose in one day.

Not really, but it can somehow it affects your mood in gambling positively, because you believe in something positive as well.
In the religious point of view, gambling is something they don't favor. Well, I think that depends what religion you belong, but if you have a distinct beliefs, like if you believe in God of gambling, then I guess that's fine. But then again, these Gods don't control the machines in the casino, nor the cards the dealer holds, so, generally prayers won't change the outcome of your gambling activities. Though you lose nothing if you believe it. So, if you're comfortable doing it, then do so, it is not something that is prohibited before gambling.

Prayer is supatitious believe in gambling world, nothing like prayer just that he gets the real game that can pay him ,if he continues he will know that prayers doesn't work in prayer,so be certain prayer doesn't work in gambling is all fake just make sure your predictions are right, predict well.
