I’m really delighted seeing this contest once again in our local board.All thanks to @ Mia Chloe and also a big thank you the sponsor of this contest @ theymos.This contest has given we the Nigerians the opportunity to showcase our indigenous delicacies.Literally I’m a lover of peppery dishes precisely pepper soup,I’ve been watching a lot of swallow and pepper soup from my end and I can’t wait to prepare my own delicacy.Lastly,I wish you all a happy Christmas and a happy new year in advance,enjoy your festive season with delicious Nigerian dishes and y’all shouldn’t forget to extend love to your family and friends.

You have run a contest in the Naija local for two consecutive years, so I was expecting to see the third contest from you this year, but I had no idea you would still repeat your first contest, which is a cooking contest. I love cooking, and this contest will give me a good opportunity to show the Naija local board and the forum at large my cooking skill.

I would have added this but not everyone will still adhere sadly. If you read through the rules of the thread, you ought not to discuss there as it was intended strictly for the submissions but there are still a couple of discussions there. Anyways towards the end of the contest everything will be properly formatted and arranged.

As for the submissions so far they are nice and it seems I'm missing out quite alot on sea foods as I can see a variety of them I haven't tried because it aren't common in my location.

This contest has made me to begin to think of Christmas soup and pepper soup. Just the way you go cook that stew and rice, you cook that soup and swallow with the same force.
If this contest na company and them tell you to name am, which name will you give it?

Honestly, the vibes are real. Swallow, soup and pepper soup really gave the contest a unique interface looking at the season in question (Christmas).
I guess your throat dey vibrate like my own as you see some of the dishes?

This contest just make sense , I think e pass last year own? Well e no matter, the main thing be say them bring am again this year...and I like the way the OP abi na organizer @Mia Chloe dey arrange the whole thing, nobody perfect oh but you dey do well, I no expect say this one go come again becos this our local board dey quick forget wetin dey give people joy.
The problem I get with @Mia Chloe be say e no dey add people wey go taste the food, I don see photos to the extend wey hungry begin catch me, people sabi cook oh, una try abeg.
Even if say na one head start this contest nothing spoil if the hands wey fit contribute join make this contest big pass as e dey join body e go good but all the same Weldon Mia...you dey try but not stop am this year abeg.

 Personally I like the consistency and dedication to showcase our naija delicacies to the world. E no dey easy to be able to organize such a contest amidst the Op other engagements but I guess at the end of the day, the love for good meals and the need to also tell the Forum say where others get their skills for showcasing their drawing and call am art, this one nah our own way to showcase our artistic talent for the kitchen as well. Naija no dey carry last!!

Yea the choice of seafood is really eye catching. I actually saw a funny thing from someone's submission in the post the catfish barbels some may wrongly call it tentacles, this barbels were shaped like the Nike logo

However, since this is a discussion thread, I would like to raise one issue here: will junior members be able to participate in this contest?If the answer is no, then why did the junior members participate there? I won’t lie i have been thinking about this contest for a while wondering when it would finally drop or if we would not see it this year at all but as usual Mia chloe came through big shout out to you for bringing it back again.

The idea on this contest is superb, I never know I can do some cooking after leaving such activity for long time, its promoting all sort of delicacy which can be used to eat swallow with the kinds of soup many prepared on this contest. The joy of participation alone is enough because me personally has learn certain items for some soup which I can't prepared for my self through this contest, it's really home driving and educative beyond measure, more strength to the organizer.

I had to bring it down to the contest discussion thread.

No, there is no need for deboning. I think a typical Nigerian knows how much flavor it adds to the soup.

Moreover, after cooking, the bones are no longer strong, easy to chew, and succulent.

Not Nigerian here, but my grandma always leaves the meat with the bones inside the pot, and the bones become a nuisance later.  

The bones are chewable alongside the fleshy part of the meat, if you have strong teeth's it makes the work much easier.

Good catch. It was a newbie account that tried to cheat the contest so I get why people might not bother so much about tagging it. Personally I think that deserves a red tag because he knew that newbies weren’t allowed to participate but there was opportunity to earn merit if he made a submission.

I feel so good in participating in any contest because each contest gives room to its basic knowledge, to be honest with the OP and members of the forum that the OP didn't only give me the room to participate but also to gains knowledge on how so many dishes is being prepared, I'm glad to see a great turn up in this contest and today being 16th of January come to the end of contest and which the next phase of the wonderful contest we soon begin any moment from the OP, so that we can be able to know when and how to choose the winners of the 2025/2026 soup and pepper soup dishes contest.

I saw that OP has locked the contest thread, though i don't know if it was locked today but i think that OP locked it too early even though he didn't give a specified time as to when the thread will be closed but they should have at least left it open till 12:00 midnight since we do have some people who like making their submission at the die minutes but that notwithstanding, today is exactly a month since the contest was made open so anyone who waited until the last day to make their submission is unserious. Anyways, i saw that you made this post yesterday so i believe you have made your entry before the thread was locked.

Courtesy demands if you want to submit late you just track the thread it's the more reason I made that announcement before I eventually locked it. Last year it brought some unnecessary drama which I obviously am not in the mood for this year. Nevertheless I'm getting a couple things ready for the next step.

We'll be live very soon but first a couple of compilations and sorting has to be done I'm just hoping I can get everything ready real soon. Once again the submissions were nice cheers to all who participated.
