I saw on the official contest thread that it was stated for the contest to come to an abrupt end on the 16th of January 2026, which I believe I am not too late to submit, based on the guidelines for submission. I also noticed your announcement here which was pasted while I was still preparing my post for upload. I hope and pray my entry is accepted by you for the contest as a participant, as it is yet to enter the 16th of  January in accordance with the contest's submission rules.

I saw that OP has locked the contest thread, though i don't know if it was locked today but i think that OP locked it too early even though he didn't give a specified time as to when the thread will be closed but they should have at least left it open till 12:00 midnight since we do have some people who like making their submission at the die minutes but that notwithstanding, today is exactly a month since the contest was made open so anyone who waited until the last day to make their submission is unserious. Anyways, i saw that you made this post yesterday so i believe you have made your entry before the thread was locked.

I'm surprised you are the one saying this @Crptoprincess because with the way you are sounding it looks as if you did not read terms and condition of the contest and if you have forgotten so easily it is not a bad idea for me to refresh your memory, the OP locking the contest group is the best option because the last day of the contest was on the 16th of January which is yesterday, and for any members of the local board that has not be able to submit their dishes from the beginning of the contest and he think that the last day is the best day for him to submit his/her own dishes, the person did a very big mistake of choosing to submit on the last day that the competition is going to stop, so the OP has every right of locking the contest group so that he will be able to constraint on giving out the results of those that will win the contest,

To know a serious and unserious person is not that hard, you will see it in his or her actions and inactions, because i don't understand why someone that is serious will wait till the last day before wanting to submit his own food cooked. I am not good at cooking soup, so I never bothered myself participating, if not I would have even submitted my entry either the first or second week after the contest kick off, so Mia Chloe is actually right in locking the thread the moment the time elapse.
What we should be talking of is the likely winners of this contest, not who and who that haven't submitted their entry.

You are very correct why will someone wait till the dying moment before acting serious, the context started on the 16th of December and end on the 16th of January which was stated clearly ,so why will someone wait till the end and at the 00 hour to post their work , which ever time op chose to lack the thread, he is right to do so , back in the schools days , you will see some people playing just few mins to exam that is when they will start reading , how do they think they will understand what they are reading and pass the exam , if you have finished your work long a  ago  what stopped you from submitting it,  till it was locked , to honest he gave a whole lot of time ,so no one should say  Ill things about his decision on when to lock the thread .

To me i don't see this as anything because it maybe that they are finding it difficult to submit the image since it is not everybody that knows how to go about this . I'm so sorry you didn’t meet the deadline to submit your own contest. However, I think the thread was locked on the 16th of January, just as the OP stated would be the end of the contest. If you check the thread where the end of the contest was stated, there was no time given for when the contest would end, such as 12:00.

Since there was no time specified, it means the OP has the right to lock it at any time he wishes. Therefore, since there was no time given, you can’t blame the OP. I’m sorry you thought the end time for the contest would be like the end of the signature campaign and other contests, where 23:00 is always stated.

Honestly I understand what you mean,  just because people submit their food on the last day doesn't mean they're unserious, but that's not the point, For me, the point is how the deadline works in the first place.  When the organizer posts a deadline, people should understand that the organizer is saying submissions should be made on or before the deadline, not wait to submit until the last minute, Making a last minute submission is a risk you're making.

Let's say if an interview or application process says it closes on a certain day. The serious candidates won't wait until the last minute to submit, They will submit before, so they're not caught in any last minute problems, If they choose to wait until the last minute and something goes wrong, the organizer running the interview is not at fault.

Unless it was clearly stated that submissions will still be open until the end of the day or at midnight. So @Mia Chloe locking the thread earlier on the deadline date may be disappointing to some people, but it doesn't automatically make it unfair. A deadline is still a deadline, whether it favored you or not, next time try and keep to time. Timing choices also matter.

Everything is wrong at @hardyrobust if you are not seeing it from the corner that cryptoprincess101 was asking the OP the reason why he locked the group, and if i should go according to what you are trying to say right here, you will understand that no one is kicking against the fact he waited on the last day of contest to post the dishes, and you don't if one of the terms and condition of contest statemented that the contest will end by 12 noon of 16th January or not, and secondly in this kind of contest once it reach the last day, the contest can be stopped at any given time as far as it is the last day of contest.

I did not participate on the food contest but when the contest came out am very sure that I'm among the first people that viewed it because I track this board through the notifier.
The contest has rules and I think you failed to read in between the lines of the op and to also check the rules. Maybe you only focus on the reward price which is why you wanted to take your time and prepare yours but fortunately the time for submission has passed and the thread is locked. Expect to see the winners soon, maybe in the next cooking contest you will participate but that is if you submit on time.

Courtesy demands if you want to submit late you just track the thread it's the more reason I made that announcement before I eventually locked it. Last year it brought some unnecessary drama which I obviously am not in the mood for this year. Nevertheless I'm getting a couple things ready for the next step.

We'll be live very soon but first a couple of compilations and sorting has to be done I'm just hoping I can get everything ready real soon. Once again the submissions were nice cheers to all who participated.

You have done really good OP, and I must commend your efforts to bring this contest to the limelight here on this platform. I can say that our local board is now the center of attraction here on this platform, and I must say that your efforts are really yielding positive results.

I have a humble suggestion here, which I think would be nice if implemented, because it would give voters and community members the ability to have a view of the dishes and how they were processed, possibly the processes involved also. It would be nice to view the dishes and their preparatory process directly from the voting thread, i.e., the thread link to the upload for the food contest on the thread should be embedded under the dish that qualified to their forum name under the dish upload for the next round. Instead of clicking and seeing the profile of the contestant, it would be nice if it were the upload to the contest, so that voters can see for themselves how the food was prepared and the phases it passed through before arriving at its finished stage. I believe this would also help to give a good voting judgment, rather than just looking at the pictures alone and voting.
Maybe this could help a lot to give the voters ideas on how to go about their voting.

How will it work?
The voting thread will be open for 10 days!!! after publication and all eligible Naija community members can vote. This year we had 117 participants, out of which 99 participants qualified for the voting thread and 18 disqualified. Feel free to revisit the contest thread and observe the entries before voting.

I think this thread was supposed to be closed by now,since the voting was opened for 10 days and today will make it 11 days. This Christmas and new year pepper soup contest was very interesting, is been long some of us engage in cooking more especially the men not to talk of engaging in cooking contest, this pepper soup contest has given us another wonderful opportunity to participate in cooking and unveil our talent. From my calculation last night, there are a lot of dishes that have the same number of votes.

I don't think that they are not aware, because since they were mentioned, they are likely going to have a notification on their telegram for being mentioned, unless they weren't paying attention to their telegram or they haven't logged in, in the past couple of days, but if that's the case then It's might be that they are very busy off forum.
Additional, I don't think it's a bad idea if Mia Chloe send them a pm for clarity, to be sure that they are aware of their eligibility to vote, because time is of essence.

From my observation, I thought when your name or username is mention in Forum you will receive a notification message from Telegram that your name were mentioned by someone and they can also see that they are among the eligible voters.

So definitely those users might have seen a notification and leave it first since it's open for 10 days or some might not having time to check or have no interest to vote at all. However you can still cross check the top 5 highest votes, I don't think it would be difficult to select at all.....Thank you.
