I'll lock the thread today. I'm just being optimistic a couple few votes come in before the end of today nevertheless according to my calculations I'll actually be locking the thread today so it's not totally off time plus I never forgot about it. Number of votes is barely half the total.

In a few hours though the thread would be locked as I didn't count up the first day in my calculation nonetheless it's all good

It seems a lot of people that are eligible to vote in your 3rd edition of cooking contest weren't aware that they are eligible to vote because the turnout was so poor, and it will make it difficult for you to decide the top five dishes. From my calculation last night, there are a lot of dishes that have the same number of votes.

Despite that some reputable members were invited to vote but voting is not compulsory and there is no way all invited members will vote because some might be uninterested while others might get notified and they end up forgetting to vote. Even in general forum contests is not everyone that is interested to vote (e.g the ongoing voting for community awards). Whichever number of users that has voted already should be counted and vote results published.

The timeframe for the voting was a whooping 10 days and not 24 hours, and I'm 100% sure that all those voters that was mentioned on that thread all saw the notifications, but rather chose to ignore it rather than cast their vote, simply because they saw it to be of less importance. So this idea of extending the date won't solve anything, because even if you extend the voting day to 100 days, there are still a set of people that won't still vote. So I think that stage has already been settled since yesterday, and what we are waiting for is for O.P to announce the winners.

And after that, I also saw that two dishes have the same number of votes. And in that scenario, I guess the best decision to do is to select the dish that has the highest number of voters that choose it as their first choice. So it is a very easy calculation, since the whole voting process is visible and transparent that everybody can see.

It's sad to know that out of the 60 persons that was invited to vote, it was only about 36 users that voted while 24 users didn't vote.

Had the been the timeframe for the eligible voters to cast their votes was within 3 days, I would have agreed with you that the timeframe set by the OP for the voting to last is the reason why some eligible voters couldn't make it to cast their votes, but since the voting timeframe lasted for 10 days, I think the eligible voters that didn't cast their votes don't want to take part in the voting process.

Yes, it's true O.P never stated what method he will use in case of two or more dishes having the same number of votes, but in a scenario whereby one of the dish with same vote comes first, the other will have to come second on the list, while the other dishes with less voting points comes third and forth. However, lets watch out to see what method O.P adopts.

The votes now is enough to call the result. So there is no need to bother anybody to come and vote. However, reminding them via PM will joy be wrong. But we should also know that there is a rule against unsolicited PM. My take is that the votes should be collated and the winners announced. Maybe in the edition, the voting selection rules can be adjusted.

Even in a community youth election, if two aspirants that are contesting for the same position have equal votes, the outgoing chairman or president will cast a vote for the two aspirants that have equal votes to determine who will emerge the winner. So the OP has the full right to cast a vote on two or more dishes that have equal votes in order to decide the best five dishes.

With the way the voting is going currently i don't think any one is soliciting for any vote and with the partner of the voting i don't think there will be partial, so for the delay you said, i want you to understand that when it comes to contest like this and the voting partner permits the voter's to vote more than one member in a roll, and the work to choose the highest occurring number within the voters and to know the members that fall from first position and to the last position, so the winners is determined by how many times those voters choose the number you fall in, congratulations to all of them in advance as we await to see the winners in these 2025/2026 contest.

The the aspect that I see that is wrong here is the organizer not being able to also notify the eligible voters through PMs serving as the reminder, honestly let's be frank with this, a lot of them have busy schedules and they might have thoughts that they still enough time before the due date for them to vote and thereby means out the deadline, it happens a lot of times, before we know it time has already passed after we might have thought of doing it later so for this voting purpose I don't think there is even a need for extending the duration or for choosing a long for the voters to cast their votes

This is something that within 3 days should be done and we get the results within 5 days, lastly I will advise that aside being the fact that all the eligible voters were being tabbed by who you should also send a reminder to them via pm, this cannot be regarded as sperm or an unsolicited PMs because the sender is A reputable member while those you are sending two as well are quite aware of such and we rather Honor it than saying it as a bug on them, multiple numbers of users can receive a message at once, te same pattern campaign managers uses in passing information across their participants through PM.
