I don't think it's possible to completely remove gambling ads from children unless social media platforms themselves remove. Although social media platforms know the age when an account is initially created. If they genuinely want to remove these ads, they can try to stop those accounts from seeing any such ads, but I don't know if that would be possible. But it's certainly possible to reduce it to a certain extent, but it's never going to be possible completely. So like others, I would agree that even if it's not eliminated, it should be done to keep minors away from it.

On our own we can't control the use of social media should or how it appear to everyone, but what we can do is to guide and prevent our children from having access to the social media, so that they don't take wrong use of it by any chance, also it is important that we know what we are doing, so that we don't lose in raining of the children and in given them access to the use of internet, because gambling is not the only thing that can cause any misfortune on them, but being exposed openly to other things online could have impact on them as well.

You are correct that we cant control the use of social media and can't stop our child's access of our phone but there should have some option like hoby/like/experience/interested. If anyone added gambling as a (hoby/like/experience/interested) then the ads related gamblig should appear others not if still others can see gambling ads then the account of the promoter should be ban. I personally have put Parental Control in my kid's tablet and phone when she will get a phone some years later. I decide what she watches, what she plays and how things are organized, so most likely is a parent responsibility to look after their kids. Social media cannot really be stopped in any other way except this, kids nowadays are much smarter than for example when I was my kid's age in 1989 I maximum had a NES-Nintendo Entertainment System that I used to play Super Mario and nothing else as a way to be entertained, now they have all sort of games from Play store or App store, Youtube, television channels, so there is absolutely no other way except parental control enforcement to their devices, this way they will be protected from gambling ads.

I might say that parental control does not help much to protect from gambling ads, or really work. It only prevents excessive usage of games and social media. I have seen many times (and I do it myself also), that even though there is a limit, lets say 1h a day of youtube, kid always ask to prolong it, and with high probability parents do that. On iOS, even if I set limit to 7+ and 9+ age for apps and movies/tv shows, gambling ads will still be shown.
