I am really sorry for creating such a thread. First of all, I apologize to everyone for asking such a strange question. I respect all the members and moderators of this forum. I do not want anyone to be disrespected or hurt by me. But I will ask a question that may make me look bad to you. Still, I am asking this question for the sake of knowledge. So please forgive me if I am wrong. and If your comments about me are Negative, I wouldn't hesitate to lock this Thread. Recently, I have opened an account in this forum and am trying to learn. The question I will ask is about the moderators. Here I have noticed some moderators. igebotzHalabmprepXal0lexCyrusMitchellgmaxwellsiriushilariousandcoachow101WelshOmegaStarScreamsaptadbshckBarcode_mole0815HostFatMr. BigAdrianoxandryEFSI have mentioned the names of some respected moderators above. Of course, there are many more respected moderators in this forum, whom I may have unintentionally overlooked. I apologize in advance for that. My main curiosity is actually around one thing. I would like to know who has the highest responsibility and authority in this forum among the mentioned respected moderators. Personally, I view all the moderators of the forum with equal respect and admiration. Still, this question is swirling in my mind out of human curiosity. Out of that curiosity, I want to know who is at the highest level among all the respected moderators of the forum? and how do you see the role and Responsibility of a moderator overall? I hope that no respected moderator will be offended by my question. I know that the question may seem a bit unnecessary or strange, BUT such strange Questions Sometimes come to my MIND.. Finally, I would be grateful If you could share your valuable opinions And views.

Check each account’s title one by one, when you see “global moderator” in one of them, that’s the one who has the highest authority among all mods. He/they come right after the admins in hierarchy.
Admin > global mods > mods > staff
Mod/staff might be similar in hierarchy and power. Not sure.
… as far as i know.

Mods = Staff, we only see the moderator tag under their name in the sections where they are moderating. For example @igebotz profile, in Naija board where he is moderating will look like this one , But in other sections it will look like this one

Each Moderator has a role in their respective subforum to moderate. Maybe you need to look at the table below. +-------------------------------------+-----------------------+ | Sub Forum | Moderator or Staff | +-------------------------------------+-----------------------+ | Bitcoin Discussion | hilariousandco | | Development & Technical Discussion | gmaxwell, achow101 | | Mining | gmaxwell | | Bitcoin Technical Support | achow101 | | Project Development | Mitchell | | Marketplace | Cyrus, hilariousandco | | Trading Discussion | Cyrus | | Politics & Society | Xal0lex | | Beginners & Help | Mitchell | | Off-topic | Mitchell | | Altcoin Discussion | mprep | | Announcements (Altcoins) | mprep, Welsh | | Mining (Altcoins) | mprep | | Marketplace (Altcoins) | mprep, Welsh | | Speculation (Altcoins) | mprep | | العربية (Arabic) | OmegaStarScream | | Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) | dbshck, sapta | | Español (Spanish) | Welsh | | 中文 (Chinese) | Barcode_ | | Deutsch (German) | mole0815 | | Français | Halab | | Italiano (Italian) | HostFat | | Nigeria (Naija) | igebotz | | Pilipinas | Mr. Big | | Português (Portuguese) | Adriano | | Pyccкий (Russian) | xandry, Xal0lex | | Română (Romanian) | Cyrus | | Türkçe (Turkish) | EFS | | Other languages/locations | Cyrus, Xal0lex | +-------------------------------------+-----------------------+ After that, you may need to understand the three differences below: Global Moderator | Moderator | Staff |
Global Moderator: Staff who have moderation rights throughout the forum. Moderator: Seen when moderators make posts within the subforum they moderate. Staff: Seen when moderators make posts outside the subforum they moderate.

Carefully read this thread; Forum ranks/positions/badges (What do those shiny coins under my name mean?) you have your answers there . But before then, I assume the highest rank apart from the founder of this forum, is the administrator. Staff Rank Description Tag Staff: Shown when moderators (see next point) post outside of the sections that they moderate. The tags under their usernames are dependent on their post group. variable Moderator: Shown when moderators of specific sections post within those sections. Gets 5 gold coins, of which the last is shown as half faded-out green. Global Moderator: Applied to Staff that have moderation privileges in all boards. Gets 5 gold coins, of which the last is half teal colored. Administrator: Has all available permissions and can appoint moderators and perform other administrative tasks. Gets 5 gold coins, of which the last is shown half red regardless of post count. Founder: Reserved for Satoshi, gets 5 platinum coins under his name.

Cyrus is not a moderator, he's an administrator. After, the head admin, theymos his next, which makes him superior to the moderators.
If we are to rank them aside from global moderators, every other one falls under the same level, they are all kings in their territory. When they are outside where they serve, they are all regarded as forum staff's.

Recently, I have opened an account in this forum and am trying to learn. The question I will ask is about the moderators. Here I have noticed some moderators.
A new member with only 3 posts want to learn about forum moderators, I have never seen this before. You seem to spend a long time to get that list of moderators while you can use your time to read about forum guides and it's better for your learning, if you really want to learn about basic of the forum. Newbies - Read before posting.[Bitcointalk sticky threads] Newbies - read before starting.

A new member with only 3 posts want to learn about forum moderators, I have never seen this before. You've been told that the OP isn't just curious, but I'd say it's pathologically intense, a feeling that keeps him awake . Frankly, having been on the forum for so long, I can barely name a few moderators, and to even select and rewrite them is beyond my capabilities. OP, can we expect your future insomnia with similar questions about who's in charge and why?

How I found out the names of these few moderators. It may sound funny. But it's true.See the pictures below. https://www.talkimg.com/images/2025/12/19/UtQLMa.jpeghttps://www.talkimg.com/images/2025/12/19/UtQrqN.jpeghttps://www.talkimg.com/images/2025/12/19/UtQcyo.jpeg

I would like to know who has the highest responsibility and authority in this forum among the mentioned respected moderators.
Every moderator is responsible to his or her designated assignment point, on the forum...Every moderator is respected to the board or section they moderate...All are staff and staff's is respected in the forum A responsibility of a moderator can be determined from the board he moderate, because they're some boards that got a lot of traffic why some don't have same traffic like others, example "Gambling section " the moderator that's moderating gambling section will have more function to do than the one's in other boards...because a lot of engagement is been discussed in gambling board.

An Odd but Honest Question About Bitcointalk Moderators.
If you want to know the functions and tasks of mods, Admin, global mods and so on, this topic was created by @notocactus in 2024. I will quote the whole thing so you don't have to bother opening the link and can see it straight away. I hope that the list will help newbies pay more time to read posts made by people who contributed to manage the forum. I don't say their posts always have higher quality than posts of normal users but you should read their posts carefully because I am sure that you will improve your understandings on both the forum rules and crypto. * Cryptios:* Mod-privileged: - Suggested by @malevolent. See
Patrollers:- They are not included in the thread.
Details on moderators' boards:Details on merit per posts and total posts made since the birthday of the merit system- See.
- There are bias factors so I don't include those stats in OP table.

If not for one thing I could have said this topic isn't called for as op is barely 1-2 months here, I think the major focused should be learning things that concerns the forum than coming to ask such question, but however, I have used this medium to know how many admins and staff we have here on the forum. So, partially I can say that this topic has also helped me gain little thing. But still, op should put more effort in exploring other things that asking such question which I think is adding nothing to him.

Admin > global mods > mods > staff
I read through a couple of replies and everyone here has a good glimpse of it but I think you guys are leaving out patrollers they are kinda staffs too but I guess they come before staff if it were a hierarchical arrangement so I'd go with; Admin > global mods > mods > patrollers > staff. Patrollers are not fixed to a certain board and I think you can call them floating mods in my opinion at least from my experience with Mitchell. Regardless I still don't know if we still have a couple more patrollers on the forum currently.

If you want to arrange in hierarchy, yours is not accurate. Head admin > Admin > Global moderators > Moderators > Patrollers. Staffs have higher role than patrollers as patrollers are allowed to moderate newbies only. Staffs and moderators are the same. They are moderators in boards in which they assigned as local moderators for these boards and they are staffs in other boards. Q: Where can I find all the moderators/staff/administrators?A: Just go to the Member search page ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=mlist;sa=search), untick all the boxes and then tick "Search by position". To find all regular moderators like board moderators, local moderators or patrollers (site-wide newbie moderators), search for " Staff" (without the quotation marks). To find all global moderators, search for " Global Moderator". To find all admins, search for " Administrator".
