We all gambling with different intentions and it's fine as far as we are doing it responsibly and it's not affecting us to the extend of addiction because we want to make money or we want to be entertained. Be it for the money or entertainment there should be a cut out bankroll that we don't overrun it and have to deep into extra funds that wasn't meant for gambling. What some gamblers are not taking into consideration is that getting the best satisfaction or profit from gambling isn't about breaking the bank.

Gambling becomes most dangerous when it is seen as a source of income or a means of continuously increasing money. In my case, it's console games that I got busy again, and I forgot about playing slots whenever I am holding my controller and so hooked with the game. My other hobby is MMORPG. There are many games that we can get busy with. Some like offline games, while others will probably have a hobby in sports. We can use those to forget about gambling even for a just a day. It will make us think about changing the activities.

I have seen people start a business under a thousand dollars that became millionaires, not that you have to in the first try, but if you put all gambling money aside for a year, use that money to start any online business you can think of, and then try for that year to put all of that time, you can have a good business, or maybe fail and lose all of it but at least it would go towards something that is nice, and then try again and again, it would be a hobby you spend money on and not something that you lose money on for addiction reasons and would have a better chance.

Gambling and gambling addiction are not the same thing. When you have to do the same thing over and over again for something and it is harming you, that is not an addiction for you. If you are gambling for fun, but it is not harming you financially, then I would not call you a compulsive gambler. Because you are aware of the reality and you are gambling with realistic principles.

When you are gambling and putting yourself and your family in financial trouble or with excessive money and you are not able to protect yourself from gambling despite knowing that you are losing money, then you are a compulsive gambler. I think addiction is just people natures on what they gives so much attention.. anyone who gives less attention to whatever things he she's doing then they hard it becomes for such person to be addictive, especially when they have set limits for themselves while gambling and also allocate amount they used to gamble could make that easier for them to become that addicted to gambling.

Gambling could be used as a temporary solution for many people who are going through one or two things, but it's never a permanent one. I have also seen cases where people don't just gamble because they want to, but they always remember gambling anytime they are in any type of family problem and want to distract themselves from it, and the worst case is using gambling to escape situations like rent issues and other money-related problems, which gambling can only take your mind away from temporarily but doesn't solve the problem.

I disagree, anything done in extreme is harmful in one way or another.  It may not harm yourself but it will harm others or vice versa.  Even foods that are known to nourish the body is harmful if taken too much.

It is harmful because in addiction the person losses control.  And losing control especially in gambling has always a devastating result.

Having a good business is not a simple task.  Many people who establish a business go bankrupt.  So establishing a business is not establish "> success " only route.  There are lots of hurdles and humps and bumps before a business can succeed.  If one is not savvy about business way, and failed to learn, most likely the business will go bankrupt.

I don't think it is right to rule out the fact that there are different motivating factors that trigger gambling addiction and it is not limited to gambling for money alone. What defines addiction is loss of control and not just the amount of money lost to gambling. People gamble to make profits, for relaxation, for fun, entertainment and to escape from reality. If the gamblers irrespective of the motive behind their gambling activities, begin to show signs of no control; alway giving more of their time to gambling than they should, I think it is okay to agree that such gamblers are addicts. You may be true, and also OP is also saying the truth as well. Most of the time, an addicted gamblers do not really need the money because if the money actually comes, it will go back again and again and again. They don't actually use the winnings for good, not that they don't have a need, but the joy of releasing the adrenaline as well as the pleasure they get whenever they stake for future hope still comes alive, that gives them more joy.

I wouldn’t really consider this an addiction, let alone a positive one. What you have described is the most logical way to approach gambling rather than what most people in the world today picture it to be, because that’s actually what gambling was initially designed for, a perfect way to sit and unwind, have fun and go back home fully entertained and not some kind of escape plan or a way to change your financial position.
