I agree, one can change their life drastically through gambling but the problem is it doesn't happen to everyone who is gambling but most of the people have that belief that is why they keep wanting to bet even when they knew that they are losing more money than they should.

Now I still gamble, but with fairly strict limits. I limit the allocation and I don't want to exceed those limits. Allocating money that is considered unused or unimportant allows me to bet more if there is a lot of money left. I’d rather set limits for my gambling allocation, whether weekly or monthly.

To be honest 99% of the people don't really have a category that they don't need money at all, so they can spend it on whatever we need, NO we are not that rich even with bitcoin.

But we all work hard to make money, survive better and we can spend a little part of that to make us happy atleast for a while, that is why people go to bars, stip clubs, movies, concerts, sports and the same way gambling. It is very common that we will only use the money in gambling that we can afford to lose.
Everything depends on luck and luck determines whether we will ever achieve a big win or not.
Since without luck we will not be able to achieve a big win, we must not bet on something that if lost, it can have a negative impact on our lifestyle.

When we begin to understand the importance of maintaining our personal financial stability and become aware of the importance of good financial management and risk management in all relevant aspects, even for gambling and other forms of entertainment, we will know our limits and have better self-control in how we use our money.

Nobody is disputing the fact that gambling isn't helpful at times or that it has not changed the life of most folks, it does but what am talking about is that if you aren't careful how on you go about it by start placing it above every other thing in your life , you see it as a source of income that is when it becomes a major problem to you. However, regardless if one can be wise enough to do what is right by gambling responsible, saying no to reckless or aggressive gambling life style then with this you can be rest assured of a save and healthy gambling experience.

Meanwhile, their was once way back I had a huge win and to be honest that money saw me through so many things, I was able to clear up my accomodations bills, my school fees and many other unplanned bills that came up between that period.

Well, it's the negative side of gambling that we are often seeing online that's why it created a stigma where when we talk about gambling, it's always the negative side of it that's being spread or being talked, but we know for a fact that it isn't the case for a few gamblers and I agree with what you said that as much as we're seeing gamblers losing their money, there will always be a few out there that are winning huge amount of money on it.

What's good in the case that you shared OP is that, the one that you know used it for something good like building a house and starting up a business. Unfortunately that isn't the case for some who are winning in gambling. There are some who won in lotto or whatever game they played, use that money into things that they want to, and by the time that the money is gone, they'll just go back to how they live before they won money. They've given a golden opportunity to change their life, but they wasted it probably just because they don't know how to handle that much of a money that they just spent it into things that they want or worse, their vices.

Big win means nothing without good management and disciplines. As you said, a lot of people ruined million dollars because gamble, I believe that happens to anyone who unable to control themselves during sessions. Well you're right when you Said that a gambler should used only his discretionary income, but the right way to go about it is to map out a little portion from our discretionary income to set our gambling budget rather than taking from our discretionary income just like that because our discretionary income has other important roles to play for example. when you're lacking some foods stuffs in the house or maybe your gas got finished it is from your discretionary income you will dip your hands to refill whatever it is that you want to refill.
