Yeah, I have been called reckless gambling by a friend as I do gamble frequently but I often maintain responsible gambling, but this friend of mine keeps calling me a reckless gambler. At first when gambling, I make sure my money used to gamble doesn't exceed my budget and I do allocate 15 percent of weekly/monthly income to gamble and whenever this allocation is exhausted I do not care to gamble anymore and I am also stick to my rules and regulation whereby even though I am gambling and I ran into lose and exhausted my initial deposit you wouldn't see going further to make additional deposit just to satisfy the urge at that moment.

Please I would like to know if any body who is actually keeping to his rules and regulation without aggressively keep gambling can be called a reckless gambler? I do not actually like such words, though I wanted to start reacting to him based how he do sees me gambling and before that I just want to know what you think about his consistent action towards me. 

As long as you can maintain your financial stability and remain disciplined by only using the money you have budgeted, you cannot be considered reckless. Or your friends may judge you not by how you use your money for gambling, but by how you bet. For example, if you bet on a soccer match and you don't actually know the teams that are competing, but you still place a bet without any analysis at all. Then yes, that's a bit reckless. Although actually, that kind of thing is fine as long as you enjoy it. Because as long as you enjoy the activity, it's not a problem. Because gambling is also for fun, aside from wanting big profits. I think there's no need to get too carried away. Just prove that you can manage your finances well by living a better life, and that's enough.

Most people don’t even understand what it means for someone to be a reckless gambler. When some people see you gambling frequently, they going to think you gambling recklessly, they don’t know it’s not about how often you gamble, it’s about how much you gamble with.

As a gambler you might be gambling frequently, and you won’t be gambling recklessly, you might be gambling within your budget, but someone that doesn’t gamble frequently might end up gambling above their gambling budget, so it’s not all about how often you gamble.

If you are a gambler, and you have a gambling budget but you never exceed your budget, I won’t say you are gambling recklessly, people that can’t even control their gambling activities are reckless gambler.

Yes, and spending money disproportionately is irresponsible, A person should be responsible and not spend more than they have. Many people spend so much that they get into trouble because they start borrowing money, selling their belongings, selling assets, just to spend it at the casino, to have money to gamble That's something I don't see as very intelligent, and that's why playing uncontrollably is so dangerous.

Yes, because irresponsible gambling is not only about the time being spent on gambling, but it's also about the amount being spent, and whether it is having a negative impact on someone's finances. I don't mean that someone who is spending too much time on their gambling activities are responsible, that's also irresponsible behaviour, but when we talk about reckless or irresponsible gambling in general, we mean that a person is gambling without any limits, and is unaware of how much they have spent and that they shouldn't have done it.

If you are even gambling on a daily basis, but not spending more money than you can afford on it, you are still a responsible gambling, considering that you are also not wasting a lot of your time on your activities because that can also disturb your personal life. However, if you are gambling even once a week, but still spending more money than you can afford, and that is making you have financial problems, then you are a reckless and irresponsible gambler, even if the time you are spending on it is less, but it is still affecting your life in general.

You could be right that the friend doesn't know much about gambling that made him think that way, or the OP is not telling us the entire truth about how far his gambling activities are going, and only the friend knows exactly what he saw that made him say the OP is gambling recklessly. It could be the amount of money allocated to gambling from his earnings, and the person's family might need that money to settle other things.

You don't have to think much your friend says. He doesn't know much about you so he says anything about you. You should focus on what you have done and still control yourself from irresponsible gambling. You do the right thing for yourself so don't bother to react with others saying. People only see what you do without seeking deeper into the real things you do. But reckless gamblers are those who can't resist or control themselves well and you are not like that.

Even though you've demonstrated responsible behavior and that your gambling is accompanied by good sense of responsibility, your friend still insists on calling you reckless. I suspect he harbors a grudge or is simply joking.
My advice don't pay attention to what your friend says; just do what you want and try to do it responsibly.

Sometimes it's not wrong to listen to people's criticism, especially when it is coming from someone sincere. They could help in identifying weaknesses in your behaviour. Some people became addicted because they failed to heed the candid observations and advice of others. We should be able to distinguish between constructive criticism and insults.

Being called reckless when you are clearly operating with structure and limits can feel frustrating especially when you know your own discipline better than anyone else. From what you described your behavior does not align with that definition. You are budgeting in advance stopping when limits are reached and refusing to redeposit under pressure. Those are not the actions of someone acting recklessly they are signs of conscious self regulation.

If I'm not wrong then those gamblers who don't follow any rules and keep gambling without any rest or without looking at their account balance are the ones called reckless gamblers. Someone who's a reckless gambler doesn't care about any negative aspects of gambling which's of course loss and addiction, but for a reckless fellow these doesn't matter at all.

On the other hand a gambler who keeps his/her rules and regulations and doesn't gamble aggressively is someone whom we call a responsible gambler. A responsible gambler knows both the positive and the negative impacts of gambling and he/she knows that gambling can cause addiction and also it could be the cause of big financial loss. Such a gambler often gamble with responsiblity without crossing their limits, and such a gambler only gamble for fun.

Reckless gambling to me would simply means, gambling without limits.

One who gambles and doesn’t know when to stop,
One who gambles and have no target on how far they could go in a session,
One who gambles and don’t have a limit to stake on a game,
One who gambles and doesn’t have a definite amount that they could win and say to themselves, it’s okay,
One who gambles and don’t care about the losses they make.

All these and many more constitute to the making of a reckless gambler. Once any gambler identifies these within themselves, they’ve got to watch it because, it could easily lead to something we all hope to avoid.

When you gamble and not affecting your financial life negatively doesn't necessarily mean that you're not a reckless gambler. You want proof? Michael Jordan. He doesn't have any financial problems, in fact he's still sitting with billions of dollars. He's a compulsive gambler who have put significant stakes. This has always been an issue for him.
Just because he is too wealthy, people usually don't think he's reckless, but in reality, he really is, there's just no solid evidence that he's out of control.

A reckless gambler is someone who gambles without limits and don't follow the rules. Such gamblers finish all their salary on gambling within days and they go as far as borrowing or selling their properties when they are out of cash just to gamble. Maybe you should sit your friend down and educate him who should be regarded as a reckless gambler. At same time, I feel same way too, the friend is probably a non gambler who doesn't want OP to continue gambling, so he decided to call OP names which his intention might be to make him change his mind about gambling. I have been in some kind of situation like that where someone called me what I am not, it really passed me off but I just ignored it because I'm not even doing what he says, so why should it bother me?, it's better to just ignore them.
