What if you have children at home and you downloaded the app, will that be good as children likes accessing their parents devices?

Also it can not be good for anyone that wants better privacy. You can give someone that you know to do something on your phone, having gambling site apps will easily expose you that you are gambling despite if you do not want them to know that you are gambling.

I agree that there shouldn't be any more apps just because they're unnecessary. It's better to use the website and "Add as shortcut" to your mobile device to make it look like you installed it, if that's what you're in it for.

It would enable them to reach more people but in terms of user experience i am not sure if they make a difference. Most casino websites are designed to be mobile friendly anyway so user experience won’t differ much. However it would create a problem for the kids like you said. If these apps were listed on appstore, they’d see those and download out of curiosity. The current situation is fine imo. Apple did the right decision there . Online casinos don’t need that extra income that would come from appstore customers anyway. They are already swimming in money. It would even backfire if appstore had gambling apps listed there. When enough number of kids suffer, governments will wage war against casinos. Nobody wants that.

I also don't like some people knowing that I gamble for some reason.  I work with people from different religions and cultures. Some people might begin to have misconceptions about my personality if they know that I am a gambler. You are also correct about children. My little nieces and nephews will always want to use my phone for games.  Seeing a gambling app may expose them to it. I will always prefer gambling sites to gambling apps because they can cover up some of these lapses.

In gambling, this should be preference over public opinion. Most people would prefer the experience in the app than the experience in the website and decide to install it rather than going through website stress and delays.

If it were about kids at home having access to your phone, there is a feature to freeze apps or hide apps as the case may be and prevent easy access from third parties.

99% of the gambling apps are replica of their website interface so you can simply logout the app when you end your session or just use the website for better user expereince. I don't think this is not a convincing reason for a casino to have app because it is not their responsibility to teach and privacy practices and mobile phones are private devices and kids should never get access to it.

There’s already a features that you can hide or put a password on that specific app so that you are the only one who can access it. There’s various app lock applications you can download on ps or AppStore.

I’m currently using it since my kids usually barrow my mobile device for streaming while my wallets and exchange accounts is there which they might do something wrong.

There are ways to hide the app icon so that no one else could see it. But it really is up to you. Kids are curious what is in their parents phone and sometimes they look at the images so its not good if they  see things that naturally going to make them curious about things they should not at such age.

You can always use you desktop. This way your gambling can be controlled. You  won't be doing it while commuting and alone in the sofa. You won't get addicted so there's the positive side of this.

The only difference that I noticed is the notification that can come from the apps, browsers do not have the notifications. I have read online before that the user experience is better on the app but according to what I noticed, they are almost the same experience. I do not see any reason to use app over a good browser.

Another one that I read before is the no need to be log in on the app, but there are many gambling sites that I have used that gambling sites is not logged out.

Another one that I read is that the site will fill the screen on the app, but that is not true as it can also fill the screen on the browser if you use a good browser.

In my opinion, gambling apps aren't good because the interface alone is satisfying, and most people hide their gambling activities. Apps won't help, but instead, they'll exacerbate privacy issues. While gambling apps do facilitate access, load faster, and make playing more comfortable, the downside is that they're more likely to be used.

I do not even like accessing my betting account through apps, I prefer it on a website because it's easier than the apps despite the fact that all of them are not the same, some of the betting platforms slows when navigating it through their apps but some are not slow at all. But all the gambling platforms that I have used of which I have been using through the website are easy to navigate unless the interest connection is not strong enough.

All phones has an AppLock feature and for parents who children have access to make use of their phone the applock will be a preventive measure to bar them from accessing the app. And this applies to all sensitive app you may have in your phone.

I'm an adult who takes care of all my bills with no third-party am depending on to paying my bill, and for that reason who by accident discovers that I gamble while I was making effort to keep it private is none of my business.

I do not like to install gambling apps in my phone although some casinos provide it but we are in 2025 already, if you are worrying about your kids who may access your phone and open the apps then simply hide the apps with password.
That way, your kids will have no chance to open it or even to see it because you hide and lock it with password.
The simplest way, do not even let your kids to open your phone.

Apps can always been hidden, devices this days offer or comes with features that allows users to hide any app that they do not want other persons to see on their app drawer..
But still again, if you are using a device that doesn't have any feature like this, there are apps on the app store for android users and iPhone app store for iPhone users, this apps can be used to hide other apps, picture, videos, music, just about anything on your device you do not want other persons to see or have access to, this apps can come in the form of a calculator, a game and so on.


So @op, If the reasons you gave is actually the reason why you don't think it's a good idea for casinos to have their own apps, then sorry to say but you don't have a good reason.

These are minor issues that can be fixed. I expected more reasons that makes gambling apps obviously not good.

First, train your children not to touch your properties without your permission. Moreover, these apps usually have login details, except you expose it to them, they won't be able to access it.

Secondly, if anyone is going to do anything on my phone, I'll be right beside them to watch what they are doing. Never be careless with your devices, no matter how comfortable you feel around those persons. You can even hide some apps you don't want people to see or access in your secured folder where only you can access them.

Lastly, whether site or app, both are still same. Gamblers can use any they find more convenient and user friendly .

There are several apps that resemble casino games, like slots, for example. However, I don't like them. Perhaps their quality isn't fully optimized for the game, but that's not the problem. These are just apps that can get into the phone's layout. Considering some of the activities we frequently engage in on social media or Google searches, if we click the wrong permissions, it can lead to data exposure. Most importantly, for me, my gambling activities aren't too public, even though some people already know. But if a child borrows my phone, that's certainly not a good story.

I prefer what @crwth said, for faster access, use a shortcut on the desktop.

Gambling apps have own market, if you have a children, so never install the gambling apps if your kid have a access to your phone. I have noticed firsthand how that the live score site upgraded to a betting platform and even decided to launch an app.
I can say for one that the experience on the website is way different from what I see in the app itself and sometimes it doesn't even open.

This is one of the reason besides the one you mentioned, that makes me agree that gambling sites should remain as they are instead of rushing to develop apps that may become not better suited for their customers and therefore they lose more than they intend to gain.

There are ways you can hide apps from view and also have passwords set to prevent unauthorized access to it. I never use apps to gamble, but there are people that do, to the gambling companies they are customers to be won over, so we will always have casinos launching these apps.

It is not the responsibility of the service provider to handle your privacy. If your apps can be accessed, your web pages can also. If you frequent the website regularly it will be in an open tab and history too.
