One reason why I think most casinos allows website instead of app is because the games are more fast on the web version but can be slow on mobile apps
I drift more towards statement you quoted, although I don't think, 'waste of money' wording is correct, and would rather go with, 'not rewarding enough'.

Considering over half of all gambling is done on mobile phones, I think waste of money is not correct wording at all. If you are a casino with a great app, like something that would actually be good to play and not slow or anything, you could get a ton of money from it. Doesn't mean from PC is a bad option, of course that is very important too, but an app would pay for itself in a single day if you do a good job.
This is why most of the big names like stake has their app and paid millions to build a very strong and safe and secure one just too get players to bet on it. Obviously if you cheap out and hire some cheap coders then you are going to have a terrible app and nobody will play on it because how terrible it is.
