People gambling away their Christmas bonus

This is what happens when you have money that comes easily without hardwork. So am not surprised that people are gambling away their Christmas bonuses you are only looking at those who are gambling with their bonuses, there is also the class of people who also use their bonus for the purpose of luxury and so use the salary for parties and enjoyment this period. This festive period is a season full of events and so if you are not careful enough to have a budget you may end up wasting your all your money.

It is still hard earn money though, I mean you have work very hard in the past 11 months and then in the 12th month your company gives you that Christmas bonus. But regardless, there could really be thinking ahead that once they got their bonuses, the first thing that they do is to gamble.

So this could be the case for gambling addict, as for casual gamblers, we all know that their priority is their family in this holidays and it might have crossed their mind to gamble. But then again, it's hard earn money so at least they could have come to their senses to keep the money or just spend it to buying gifts and putting good food in the table.

I get your point ,this has been noticed by so many people and because the money came as extra income, and  they end up thinking that's not part of their real salary. They didn't see the money as free, so plans were not made for is and that makes it easy for them to use it for gambling.

It's easy to spend the money that we didn't worked hard for. That's what they think it is but, the reality it's their money from their hard work. If they consider it like that which gives them more funds to gamble. They have all the rights to do whatever they want with it. Even if we try to ask and please them not to spend it all, they will have to do what they want to do. There is no harm in spending that free money to anything we want. But let's keep it in our minds that we've got limited money and with gambling, it's not going to be the same for everyone that it will multiply and make us win, it only happens for some.

I've raised similar issues in gambling discussions many times, because if a gambler receives easy money (like this bonus), they'll treat it as something unexpected and happily risk it. And even if they win with this easy money, it's not a guarantee that it'll last. Especially if it's around Christmas, when gamblers are most likely to believe in miracles. In any case, for me, the thirteenth salary, as we call it here, is part of the budget, not outside money, and I take it seriously.
Under no circumstances should I gamble with this money.

I might be expressing a mercenary or envious point of view, but it's better not to gamble with this supplement to my annual work income, because if I lost this salary, it would definitely significantly worsen my mood. And if I also found out that one of my colleagues won something at an online casino by gambling this salary, I would become sad because I would envy them.
Therefore, I would rather keep this money in my pocket than deposit it.
Yes, it's boring, but it's better than being left without this money. And it might be needed for gifts and other living expenses next year.

Depending on the amount sent, Christmas bonus is mostly used for fun and other happy related activity. If gambling is considered fun I find nothing wrong using the bonus for betting while if choose to invest first it’s still understandable and a wise decision, the bonus funds is not that serious rather during festive season a lot of people choose to entertain and enjoy their holidays in what so ever way probably investing and gambling is still not an option as many will choose other related fun activity.

Free money is free money, no matter what it is used for, it will get used because that's what it was for and whether we Invest or gamble it away, it will always produce the results you seek, nothing more nothing less.
Not all companies pay the extra salary and even the normal December salary may come late because they are trying to economize for you who is reliant on it and am sure if one gets to work at a company for long, your habits become well known even if you do well to hide it.
Gamble the extra salary away or not, won't stop January from arriving and it surely won't stop the price of commodities from increasing alongside other bills that comes with the start of a new year. It's wise to save and plan for the future instead of spending it all in December gambling hoping to win big and live well in January.

That’s true but if you look at it,
Bonus money and money won from bets fits very well into the category of “what you can afford to loose”. You don’t think much about it to gamble if away and when you lose it eventually, it doesn’t hurt so bad because it wasn’t a hard earned money. It’s just another unexpected allocations that have got to be spent somehow.

Gambling is one of those activities you can spend some money enjoying and even if it’s Christmas, it’s still a way to enjoy the season.

I don't understand what Christmas bonus you are trying to tell us here because if it is a casino bonus, anyone is free to spend the money and gamble with it the way the like but if it is the fund in there account, they will have to make good use of the money so that they don't have to spend the money carelessly and not have what to spend when billings they need to settle comes around.
Money is meant to be spent and anyone that want to make money in the easier way should try gambling at there own risk.

How do people do not have debt though? Like right now, I have only 1 thousand dollars debt left, that's it, I had nearly ten thousand and now only one thousand left because I worked really hard. I am not working in a job that gets Christmas bonus, but if I did, instead of gambling then I would pay my debt.

I never understand people who do not have debts, nothing chaotic happens in your life? No medical emergency? No items at house breaking? No roof leaking? Like nothing? Every year there is at least one thing that causes me to overspend what I earn, and that is why I am always in debt, I am sure just as I am finishing this one, another one will appear soon enough. Organization or companies give bonus to their employees to celebrate but they waste that money unnecessarily. Those who are smart try to use the money consciously. But for those who do not save money or are not very conscious about it, it is very easy to spend all. I asked someone what he did after getting a bonus and he said that he lost that money. I asked him why he lost the entire bonus money and he told me that he enjoys betting. If he had won that bet, he would have benefited a lot. His statement was that he enjoys betting. In this regard, my only advice for them is that one should definitely set a limit while betting so that it does not affect his personal life later.

It's not how this works. When you get hired in the middle of the year you still get the bonus. You don't have to work for 12 month.

Easy come easy go is the saying.

It's very easy to spend money you got with no effort, like Christmas bonuses, stimulus checks and similar. That's why when they were giving stimulus in the US after covid, many people bought cryptocurrencies and made us reach a new high. Spending bonuses on things you don't need and taking unnecessary risk is just human nature.
