It depends on the kind of close friend you are talking about because even in the free town there is nothing free there will always be something indirect and also it depends on if I'm free or not. If I feel I'm completely fine and okay with the way I gamble just like the way I'm feeling now, I won't go even if there is no harm in trying and even though it's free because sometimes Doctors can make or induce fear in your body because of what they see or experiment that may not be true and a lot of people has died because of result or report they get from Doctors and nurse.

It’s a free consultation which means nothing to lose. Normally, this will cost a decent amount so taking the offer gives more advantage compared to the disadvantages you can get.

The consultation might help to figure put the mistake that I’m not aware of right now to improve myself future self and avoid disaster in the future when it comes to gambling.

I think only ego or pride will make gambler decline this offer.

I'll take it for very many reasons. First of all, you'll never know when you're doing too much. It has to be someone that has been watching you closely for a while, that can tell if you're moving out of tracks or not; so if the Doc walks up to me and says this, especially if he's a type that doesn't interfere in people's business at all, then I think I'd rather need to seek and pay for the consultation. We don't pay attention to how these little things damage us, do you know why? It's not a physical damage so to speak, so we just don't care. If we paid close attention to our mental health like we do to our body, then the rate of addiction would reduce in half.

A free consultation from a professional is an opportunity to jump at. If you intend to access a consultation with a change mindset, it won't be useless; perhaps it could be the beginning of a journey to reclaim your social and economic life.
Personally, I don't need it. After years of personal growth, I've managed everything perfectly independently, but if I did, I'd gladly accept without hesitation.

Just exactly my point. If a close friend of yours cannot make up for the millions you should have wasted afterwards, out of desperation, then he's not truly your friend. Rejecting the offer, especially since it's free, makes you even more unreasonable.... But what do I know? You may have had everything under control like this user, and there's nothing wrong with that too.

If it's free, that's fine, because a consultation doesn't automatically mean you're addicted to gambling. Just checking first isn't a loss. Feeling fine is normal, but sometimes a more objective outsider, like consulting a specialist, and a prescription from a doctor might be helpful. Honestly, I rarely see gamblers go to the doctor for a psychological checkup, especially if they're already severely addicted and find it difficult to stop gambling while they still have money.

Whether my addiction is manageable or not, since it’s free, I’d take it. Sometimes, it’s still good to hear advice from a professional. Not all the time, but there are instances when we might not listen to ourselves or even close family, yet we may listen to a professional. As long as no one knows about my addiction, I’ll go. Why not? I think that if a specialist notices some signs that I might need a consultation, especially since this is someone I know, I would of course, agree to it and listen to their arguments. Perhaps after speaking with me in a more detailed and focused way, they would understand my situation better, because I believe their initial conclusions might be superficial. So yes, of course I would agree to such a consultation, why not.

Self-assessment might be biased. People should observe your behaviour and give their honest feedback. If my friend thinks I need some assistance and he wants help, that's fine. I will gladly accept his free gesture. It will not cost much to spare some time to learn something new. Even if I think I am okay, this is an opportunity to gain more knowledge, cause accounts management complicated and also afffexr the integrity of the casino.

Whether my addiction is manageable or not, since it’s free, I’d take it. Sometimes, it’s still good to hear advice from a professional. Not all the time, but there are instances when we might not listen to ourselves or even close family, yet we may listen to a professional. As long as no one knows about my addiction, I’ll go. It’s a no if it becomes known in our community, gossip. I don’t want that to happen.

If only everyone understands how and why problem gamblers run very far away from therapists, it'll be easier to decline an offer like this even if it's for free. Therapy sessions can be too weary for both the therapist and the compulsive players when they can't reach a consensus at understanding one another.

Most atimes people stop going for therapy due to the conflicts that occur between both minds, one side thinks the other person is wrong at their behavior and the other assumes they shouldn't be addressed as such in the first instance. Then the countervailing talks, results to an end of the entire therapy sessions.

Free consultations? Why not, especially if I have the time and if the person offering them is truly an expert in the field. While we may be able to gamble responsibly now, that doesn't mean we won't become addicted someday. Taking advantage of free professional advice is very beneficial. It all depends, as there is no way I will be addicted to gambling and don't know that I am addicted and need help..
If after my own personal assessment of myself, I believe I am not addicted to gambling, I can only accept to go for the free consultation if I have a lot extra time to spend on unimportant stuff.
But if I do not have free time, I will politely decline the free consultation.

But on the other hand, if indeed I am addicted to gambling and surely need that help, then why not? I will gladly accept the free consultation and also thank the doctor for being so kind and caring enough to sacrifice his time to help me.
So this are the two different scenarios that will tell or determine whether or not I will accept such offer.

It's free, so why not take it? By taking the free consultation, you can have a new perspective on what addiction really is, based on experts' opinions.
You can apply it to yourself and all the people you know, because you know what addiction is, because you have undergone a consultation under a physician who specializes in gambling addiction. Most of the time, our awareness differs from that of the experts.

I agree on this, the offer is just free so there’s no harm on trying it to make sure that you don’t have any problem on gambling.

Many addicted gambler didn’t know or aware that they already have a sign of addiction that’s why they keep on playing without any restraint on their game.

They only notice the problem once they already lose a lot and they affect others already. To be safe, I do the same to try it like the Annual Physical Exam on my company even though I don’t feel any sickness.

I will take it as long as I have time & the consultation is free. Gambling can make us unconscious directly, therefore we need help from experts to identify ourselves & our relationship with the gambling we do. I've answered the question above the thread title with 'Yes' & we got 15 so far. However, I'm surprised that 5 users didn't want the free consultation. What's wrong with those users?

I will take the free consultation if I have time, we can never know it all, we might think things are okay while there little things that are still developing might get out of hand if not identified on time and taken care off. If I go there and he confirms that I am okay I have nothing to lose, I will gladly go home, but am sure he will surly have few things to say to me, and  I didn't pay a dime for it. Having a professional who assures you that everything is fine is more better than you just assuming that things are fine on their own.

Well, if I have time, I would probably take that free consultation... I would love to hear what he has to say. And I would like to ask him a few questions.... The first couple of questions would be about his gambling experience and his games of choice.
