Once you see yourself breaking your own rules that you set for gambling, it's a clear sign that you are on the edge of getting addicted. It all starts simple and grows to a stage where you can no longer control it.

That includes the momentary symptoms when you gamble, it includes the signs if it is done as often as possible when gambling, I need to add that when our feelings want to continue gambling when it has reached the maximum limit that we have set, it is usually one of the very big symptoms but we are not aware of it, wanting more after what we have done, this is common in other addiction symptoms, so if it is continued it will increase the addiction to be more severe.

When I talk about breaking one's own rules, I mean all the budgeting rules, time and bankroll management. If you set rules that after spending a certain amount of time you won't gamble for the day, but you continue gambling, that's a sign, and if one keeps on funding their account after exhausting what they previously budgeted, that's also not a good sign. All those changes should be taken note of.

Someone can be considered being addicted when he's doing that is interfere his daily life. i.e when gambling reaches the states it's disturbing your activity, society, and even your relationships. So are you looking for those signs in yourself? Because that's way harder then to see them in someone else.

Thing is that warning sings are something that all feel positive to you. They are the deepest hooks. You start to think that these feelings are so important to you that you couldn't achieve them any other way. And you will believe that they are solution to your problems, because they bring you joy.

Feeling bad for losing all your money isn't really a warning sign. It's a healthy response and means that you want to listen to yourself.

But if i had to summarize it: Value opinions of your closest friends that aren't gambling. They see your situation way more clearly.

When you lose control and play more then you planned. And when you spend more and more time on it, that it affects on your daily routines and life / relationships. Those are signs that you need to seriously reflect about your gambling and stop for a while at least.

Like every other addiction if you cannot control yourself over it then you are addicted to it and there are different areas of gambling addiction, they all lead to the part of frustration, mental stress and bankruptcy. If you continually use a lot of money that you cannot afford to loose to gamble and when you're broke you will sell your property or borrow then you're definitely an addict. Chasing loses and overstaying in gambling not minding important things that you need to do at that time it means that you are addicted. I have real example about addicted gambler because one of my friends is an addicted gambler due to some reasons;

2. He cant stop gambling although he have won more than 3x of his initial deposit as he wants more and more.

4. He sold some of his own properties just for gambling.
5. He has a big debt on banks because of his own gambling habit.

There are several ways to identify addicted gamblers but one of the easiest way I know its through thier lifestyle, an addicted gambler usually feel pressured whenever he's gambling as he will be hoping to win if the outcome didn't work in thier favour then, they will start panicking and then walk away but that doesn't mean they won't go again the next day. Personally, I identify someone with an addiction by observing their habits. If they do something excessively, then they are an addict. I believe this identification method can be applied not only to gambling but also to anything, whether it is alcoholism, nicotine addiction, or anything else. The key is simply to observe how they spend their money, and time gambling. If they gamble constantly and neglect productive time, then they are an addict, and if they force themselves to gamble even during difficult economic times, then they are a gambling addict. However, we cannot judge or blame such people; they have their own rights. What we can do is provide advice for them.

Tough times will always come for most people, and a preventative solution is financial and time management, especially regarding gambling. This can save someone from difficult times or even provide a way out. I don't know how others see it but from what I have seen, there are some common behaviors of a addicted gambler. Which I have seen in some of my friends as well. First they will ask you to borrow money from them overnight and promise to pay them back the next day but you will never get that money back. Second if they win a big amount at some point, you will see that they will buy expensive things. And after a while, they will sell them and deposit that money in gambling. And many other symptoms I have noticed that I can't remember now but these seem more common to me.

I disagree with your highlighted point here, as I agree less with them. Debt could be a sign because addicted gamblers always look for money to gamble because they are always desperate to play games because they already have the urge to play games to win, but in the end, they lose more. As for the other points you made, I doubt you could spot an addicted gambler through them because they are cases on their own. Gambling has nothing to do with drinking; a drunkard is a drunkard, whether he or she plays a game or not; they are just addicted to drinking, likewise the others as well. They are all addictions on their own, so it does not really portray anyone as an addicted gambler if they drink, smoke or do drugs.

This is the true nature of gambling addiction because it is what distinguishes and knows whether a person is addicted or not.
This is not because there is a lot of evidence that those addicted to gambling spend more money and continue to have debts for gambling, they never think this is addiction, they want to keep winning until the level of satisfaction is no measure.

Sometimes, not just in gambling but also several other areas in life, it’s a lot more easier to set rules than it is to stick to those rules, like someone would say, rules are meant to be broken and there’ll always be people who will break rules regardless of how delicate they are. Yes, it’s never a good sign to break your own rules, especially as it concerns financial management issues. Now, people who are addicted didn’t just get there all of a sudden, the road to addiction is actually a journey, the signs are always pretty vivid and transparent, and even before external people start seeing those signs, the victim must have already saw those signs in plain black and white and paid little to no attention to fix themselves, and then it can escalate to the point where others can start seeing it.

The signs aren't subtle once you know what you're looking for but most people don't want to look. Someone who can't seem to stop talking about his or her wins but goes silent about losses? Red flag.

Watch how someone reacts if he or she can't play. Irritable? Anxious? That's withdrawal, same as any other addiction just different substance. The isolation creeps in too. They stop doing other things that they used to enjoy because gambling has taken the place now. It's an efficient waste in the very worst, one thing taking over everything else.

If you so a addicted gambler you should identify them easily but you won't know a addicted gambler if you're not someone that is in the system for long too. Because people that we see they are addicted anytime they are gambling site finding a club to bet on even they lose next day they will says is a new days and they can get the opportunity to win when they bet. If you see addicted gambler stop betting that means he is at of funds and is ready to risk anything he have just to get profit in gambling.
