Even though you cannot always tell if a person is addicted to gambling there are some signs that you can observe to know if they are really addicted. first of all, you cannot identify this if you are not sure that they are gamblers. Gambling addiction can affect a person's psychological and financial state, it is easy to spot when people that gambles are in such crisis. Addiction is a terrible thing and it is capable of making people get into debts and other precarious situations. No matter how much a gambler earns in a month it still wouldn't be enough because people that put themselves in such situations can't do anything reasonable with money
in my opinion gambling addiction is a silent but terrifying problem that gradually destroys a person’s life. many times it is not obvious from the outside that someone is addicted to gambling but their behavior mental state and financial struggles reveal the signs. gambling makes a person’s thinking irrational and destroys their sense of responsibility toward money. no matter how much a person earns money never feels enough once gambling takes control. as a result they fall into debt and slowly become isolated from family and society. this addiction does not only cause personal damage but also creates family and social instability. therefore raising awareness about the harmful effects of gambling is extremely important. developing self control in time and seeking help when necessary are what can save a person from this destructive habit and help them build a healthy and stable life.

I think it'd be better if you look it up on google or use chatgpt you'd have more detailed answers to your question. Anyway, some of the things you can recognize on someone who might be an addict is if they gamble more than they can afford to lose, spends all day gambling, borrow's money just to gamble, get's easily emotional when they don't gamble, their personal lives starting to get affected because of gambling, etc.

I personally could just Google it and ask the GPT Chat, but that's not fun and doesn't seem realistic, it's too easy. Well, what comes to mind now after reading all the responses from pages 1 to 5 from my seniors is my curiosity about the messages and suggestions that have been conveyed, whether they can be helpful enough when someone is already trapped in it.
You could just do that but the AI has never seen someone who is addicted to gambling before, the way GPT operates most of the time is that it rummages through the internet looking for information that might answer your question or generates and answer based still on information it finds in the internet which were put there by people like those in this forum who discussed gambling addiction so where the better place to get the information for yourself, from the original sources themselves or from an AI that gets the information from the original sources.

Recognizing the signs of addiction is a good plan, basically prevention is better than cure, this means recognizing the signs is the same as preventing the terrible incident from happening, as far as I know the signs of addiction are when a gambler has an excessive interest in gambling, usually this is because of an obsession with winning, besides that addiction can also occur when a gambler is irresponsible where losing can be something that will continue to encourage them to play.
Yes, anticipating it is better than realizing it after suffering from an addiction can be a tedious task, requiring time and significant resources to treat. Gambling is always tied to emotions and an excessive desire to win, leading to an obsession with betting larger amounts to win. This is the main reason why someone can become trapped in addiction. Especially when they have had a big win in a gambling bet, it becomes a powerful motivation to bet and gamble recklessly every day.

Some of them think they will make gambling a side income.

Of course, there's no better way than to approach gambling moderately. But to achieve such a minimal approach, gamblers must first recognize the reality of what gambling really is. Everything is done at the behest of the mind. This means we must first align our perspective on gambling to arrive at the right approach.
I'm quite concerned about gamblers who end up addicted. I know the stress that comes with addiction. So, I hope everyone realizes this before it's too late.

Gambling addicts are always absent minded and this is because they are always focused on gambling, when you see such person's you would always be able to identify them easily. Gambling addiction always reflects on the individuals finances, in the long run they end up spending more money on gambling and they get into debts because they put in all they have into gambling, this makes them spend money recklessly

And of course, lies are a constant companion for these gamblers. After several debts to banks, these banks no longer lend to these gamblers. So these guys almost always begin lying to family and friends to get you to lend them money. And if the gambler truly has a severe addiction, they won't be able to repay the money. They'll have to hide and not answer the phone to avoid awkward questions. It's a miserable life, where the gambler begins to hate themselves. And at this stage, it's good if the gambler pushes back from their moral depths and begins to admit that there's a problem and it needs to be solved.

You're right, addiction is not written in the face but it is through the character we exhibit that explain to people who we are. Yeah I have encounter so many addicted gamblers but I was unable to find out not until it get to a point where they will start going for a loan and also selling thier properties to gamble, and also going through financial challenges. while those that have not sell properties or go for a loan is likely to hide thier addiction until they are force to do that, but most addicted gamblers don't keep thier addiction for long more especially when they are gambling with crowed, sometimes they will be forced to display the character of an addicted gambler.

Trust me,the signs are always there, from the foundations that seems uncontrollable, you can usually identify addiction by patterns, not just one behavior.Addiction leaves consistent signals across thinking, emotions, and actions. It is a loss of voluntary control over a behavior amidst harmful consequences. The moment a behavior shifts from optional to relevant, addiction begins.Things to look out for are behavioral changes, emotional dependence, isolation or secrecy.Mind you, addiction always grows silently usually backed up by constant habits/routines.

They have done it themselves and that's why they are addicted. I reckon that you've described it as a journey.
Many of the gambling addicts describe it as a sickness and it just came to them when they've been enjoying.
But they refuse to accept that it is them that have started that journey, chosen it and that's why they've become one.
And that’s exactly why I described it as a journey. I don’t know if this is generalized to every addicted gambler, but but based on my observation, majority of those who are involve in gambling addiction are mostly those who observed the symptoms pretty early but still made the mistake of believing they’ve got everything under control, maybe because they feel that if they continue led, they’ll be able to effectively gain complete control of themselves and that those symptoms would disappear.
That is a real thing.
They think that everything is under control where in fact that it's not.
The lies that they're believing to themselves that things are just fine and they can control it.
But if you're going to look on how they're looking it, they're already in so much losses that they're trying to recover that has resulted them to become addicted.
Because they keep on doing it again and again.

I'm interested in asking this.

I haven't joined yet, but I think recognizing the warning signs is better than ignoring addiction, which can have negative consequences later on.

In short, prepare for a rainy day.

It is quite easy actually... If you want to know whether someone is addicted to gambling or not, all you have to do is restrict their access to internet, depending on their reaction to their lack of internet then you will know how addicted such person is to gambling services, like casinos or bookies.

If the person shows odd behavior and cannot control their urges to access to his accounts, then it is obvious such person is addicted to gambling and is supposed to tackle his problem with professional assistance. Other people restrict access to money, in order to see if the gambler would be willing to sell his belongings or ask for loans in order to continue to dive in his addiction.

Anyways, there are several ways to test whether someone is addicted, those are (in my opinion) the most direct and most effective ones.

Those who are addicted to gambling will gamble regularly, this is their characteristic. If you are not an addicted gambler, then you will never gamble regularly because you do not have the ability to waste money by gambling regularly. Those who are addicted do not have that ability either, yet they gamble every day because it becomes their addiction. If they have any money, they borrow it from their friends to gamble. Again, when the level of someone's addiction increases, they do not hesitate to steal or rob money to gamble. Because gambling controls them in such a way that they lose control over themselves.

Indeed. They must gamble in an intensive way or gamble very often. According to many cases, addicts even can't leave the gambling games in a whole day. So they probably gamble daily. Meanwhile, people who gamble regularly once or twice a week, they may be not addicted yet.

~~ when the level of someone's addiction increases, they do not hesitate to steal or rob money to gamble. Because gambling controls them in such a way that they lose control over themselves.
True. For the severe level of addiction, people have no control of their desire anymore. Sure, they can borrow money, steal money, or doing anything to get money for gambling. This is very dangerous because they can do criminal acts. That's why it is very important to handle the addiction case since very early stage to avoid dangerous impacts.

To recognise someone who is addicted in gambling is "easy" And it can only be easier to identify if you're a gambler..How you can identify an addicted gambler...

▪︎ He will always be curious in anything that concerns gambling

▪︎ He will not like any odds to pass he by without bet on it

▪︎ They alway prefer spending in the gambling more than spending to his family and friends

▪︎ They spend more time in gambling apps or gambling centers

▪︎ They like to take all risks in gambling

▪︎ They dont consider to gamble what they can afford to lose.

Recovery starts with awareness, to recognise someone who is addicted to gambling, they spend way more time or money than intended on gambling, they sometimes lie about their gambling habit or keep their activities a secret, they bet more to win back losses which escalate the cycle, they use gambling to cope with problems or emotions.

Gambling is very distractive and for you to easily identify those who are addicted is true their constant gambling and consistent chasing of particular winning and whenever you see them not able to stop and quit gambling then you should know that they are addicted already. At first you should be that setting limits to yourself while gambling, you shouldn't be that giving your attention to gambling, you should set budget for gamble in other to be able to gamble responsibly.

I'm interested in asking this.

I haven't joined yet, but I think recognizing the warning signs is better than ignoring addiction, which can have negative consequences later on.

In short, prepare for a rainy day.
Once you are not longer in control of yourself that is a sign of addiction. It's good that you ask questions because that is exactly the most important in gambling because those gamblers that are addicted to gambling was carried away by taking gambling as a source of income, then when they find out what they lost everything, they start chasing to recover back their losses that is how they would start getting addicted to gambling until it gets worster. Gambling is meant to be a fun and entertainment with only what you can easily afford to lose because there is no guarantee of getting back your losses.

This your mindset is seen as one that makes sense. Giving listening ears to warning signs early isn't pessimism, it is being responsible. Many addictions didn't begin with collapse, they begin with little habits that gradually take control. To be aware on time provides you with room for adjustment before real harm affects the finances, health, or relationships. Getting ready for the rainy day is easily accepting the fact that self control is not above all and also that to prevent is more easy than to recover. One does not have to be involved to learn the risk it carries. To be aware alone is a kind of discipline.

You are right, that's why I always sound it here many times that people chose to be addicted before they become addicted, that's because addiction does not happen suddenly, it doesn't start like a magic but it starts gradually until the person becomes overwhelmed by it which is still be the person's consent. The people that chose to ignore it gets addicted and those that pays attention would not be addicted.

The problem of being addicted to gambling is that you're not fully aware that you're addicted. You are oblivious to the fact that you justify your addiction by clinging to the hope of hitting big on your wins; or even by claiming that you would win the jackpot. In reality, however, that wouldn't even happen given the miniscule chance of it coming to fruition.

Having to approach gambling with a clean conscience and sense of direction can avoid being addicted to gambling in the first place. If you see this habit as a means of entertainment than income, then being financially responsible comes with it too.

The next question is- how do we accept the fact that a person is indeed addicted? If they determine to themselves that they are too deep in this habit, how would they get out of this endless blackhole that continues to plague their mind into gambling again?

I just hope that people who are addicted to gambling see the light at the end of the tunnel. Instead of being too focused on winning, change your mindset with acceptance that not everything is a bed of roses. Meaning, gambling can both bring the best and the worst out of you.

You have said the highlight of it, it's about the choice and whoever becomes addicted has chosen to be one. At some point, there's a probability that one have already told them to stop gambling because they're near to addiction. But they chose not to listen and chose to continue and it resulted them to become addicted. It's a life choice that others think they'd blame gambling for that without realizing that it's their personal choice and they're not forced by any casino to become hooked with it. And identifying that starts from being not a good listener and someone who likes to deny facts about themselves.

How can you be able to track someone's gambling activities if you don't have access to their gambling account? If we are to use their pattern of gambling and when they are breaking their limit to judge, we will be very limited to who we can spot out unless they are directly close to us, but for those who can't hide or control themselves in public, we can easily spot them, as they can't stay without talking about gambling or gambling themselves.

Addicted gamblers are not really hard to spot, they tend to have a pattern of living and if you watch them closely you would see all the signs needed to know that they are addicted to gambling. one way you can figure out a person is an addicted player is when they go out of their way just to get money to fund their gambling activities. gambling addiction comes with a lot of signs that are noticeable

Only an addicted gambler can tell you about their problems because it is never easy knowing what the next person is doing with his phone and money in a time when most people play in online casinos. Unlike the era of physical casinos, you can easily notice someone suffering addiction when you often visit the shops, everyone is on their own now, doing their thing and suffering or enjoying a lone. Other times you can also know about someone gambling activities is if you actually know him and some of his activities especially those that has to do with finance, from there you can ask questions to know what is sucking the money. Addiction is not something anyone should experience because it is not a nice experience.
