Read through this recent thread from a newbie like you, he got lots of advices and resources. You will understand the forum if you spend your time reading through important threads and posts. And you don’t need someone to educate you on what to do, you learn yourself through reading important and informative threads or posts.

For three months, what have you gained and done? 
Since you are in a Bitcoin discussion forum, a simple step you can take is to read topics that interest you and enrich your knowledge. If you feel you have a thought that needs to be shared, don't be afraid to express it. 
During your time in the forum, you should not overlook the forum rules. 
Just follow the boards that you really like, and you will indirectly gain interesting information. The key lies in your ability and willingness to seek information.

as you, I was newbie in Bitcoin for 1 year. Since that, I have learned from different contributors, mainly over YouTube videos,
I was even not aware about the forum. Once I was not newbie anymore, but with more knowledge, a friend of me asked me
about savings in Bitcoin. So, to help her with more valuable material, I have started to write a guide.

This document becomes huge, I am still completing content, as far I am still (and never stop) learning about Bitcoin.

Since you were able to create a thread in the appropriate board and write a reply, this is sufficient for now. Continue reading the threads and reply if you're interested. You will see interesting topics from which you can learn. It may take a while for you to rank up your account. But I believe you will be a kind of crypto and forum veteran at the same time in a few years. If you can rank up your forum account, you will also have the ability to monetize it. If you get a chance to participate in any campaigns, you will be able to make some pocket money too. So, there is nothing to worry about. Please do not cheat, scam, or abuse the forum features.

Hey there, welcome on board. The forum is as easy as it looks, you just have to be open to understand and learn at least that helped me a lot in my newbie days..

If you are looking for resources and materials to study ill recommend this thread [Mega resources for newbies] Check here, find most of your need, before asking. it has a whole lot of them and I can assure you it helped me as well coming.

Just make sure you obey the forum rules and be yourself.

This is very important, you cannot fully understand this forum if you don't read pinned threads for different boards of your interest, OP you must not be a specialist in everywhere, in my early days I thought growing was tied to posting and contributing everywhere but NO, there are different sections on this forum for example Economics, beginners and help, Bitcoin discussion e.t.c, just choose the ones you're conversant with and continue contributing beautifully and as you engage, you'll understand the forum more.

I think the most important boards to visit and get updated about the forum generally is Meta and Reputation.

While as a newbie, you'll pick helpful information more on the beginners and help section and your local board.

Normally I'd go ahead and blast you without sugar coating things but I think I'm in a good mood today. One thing I noticed is that cause of your stagnant situation is your inability to engage in discussions. You don't open a thread just for the fun of it and leave it without going back to keep tabs on it. Being here three months is nothing if you haven't learned the basics.
 As it stands, even if you're to be given a manual as to how this place works, you'd neglect it because you don't really know how to categorize things in order of importance. Instead of opening threads and seeking for a solution, have you tried making your research first? I know that someone who asks questions gets answers but if you had given yourself to reading, you'd know that such threads like yours have been treated and you'd get the answers you're looking for there.

Your account was created since on July and we are in December now, it means you've been here for roughly five months and not three months. You don't understand the forum but yet you know about forum ranks? I assume someone who's completely new here will likely not notice the rank or might not care about the rank of their account because after all, they don't know it's relevance. Your account can never change from "newbie" status unless you engage in discussion regularly and earn merits too. Your activity and merit work hand in hand to increase your account rank. You can forever be in a newbie status with thousands of activities and without a single merit and likewise, you can still be a newbie with thousands of merits without single or low activities. You can trace the count of both your activities and merits in your dashboard and under your name in every thread you make posts.

Where do you see the OP writing about ranks ? That's probably not the case. The OP already created a similar thread asking for clarification on how to use the forum. But after receiving some advice, he didn't implement it, so the questions remained unresolved. OP, your friend introduced you to the forum. Where is your friend now? All you need is reading. If you don't want to read, you need to tell us what you want to get from the forum and why you came here. By answering these questions, you'll automatically understand what you should do.

You don't have to be worried or disturbed for nothing, forum is for fun, we are all hear to discuss about bitcoin and also share ideas and communicate with each other in some other additional information regarding the use of bitcoin, aside this, other opportunities that may come in through your stay here are secondary.

Try to take your time to understand the forum, it's rules, get familiar with the boards and sections on each, read the pinned threads and read more on what others are posting, you will learn with time and build up yourself, read more often on bitcoin discussion and beginners and help boards respectively, we all once started like you, time will determine whether you will stay or not from your decision today.

man i wish i had someone telling me it was all for fun when i started, back then it felt like a job trying to figure out what merit was and how to not get banned for saying the wrong thing, just curious though what exactly has you feeling disturbed, is it the interface or just the amount of info being thrown at you at once, bitcointalk looks like it belongs in the nineties but you get used to the vintage vibe after a while i guess XD

The part I bold in Op statement is what gave me the impression that he's probably concerned about his forum rank not increasing to a higher rank after spending some time here already. Quite alright, I remembered coming across such post some days back but I don't know if the author of that post was same as this one. I personally find it annoying when someone referred person to this forum and then leave them to their fate without giving them a proper guidance they deserve. Not everyone can survive without supervision and it is better not to invite them than leaving them halfway.

Let me guess, a friend invited Op to come and earn money on the forum. Op is now desperate to start earning and look confuse how things work out here. Unknowingly to him that the friend who invited him hide some truth from him. There's no better way to put it thou.

The first time I visited this forum, everything looked strange. It is not colorful and looks outdated. But as I kept visiting, it became easier and I began to enjoy it. I am surprised you have stayed here for three months without learning much. You have also visited a local board that should be more accommodating and easier to interact with. I suspect you have not been consistent and you have not read the information that was recommended in the previous thread you created.

My suggestion is that you should be more active on the local board. Spend more time in the forum, read, and do more research. Place less priority on writing and put more effort into observing and studying materials on topics that interest you.

Do you really love this forum? I am asking because if you love it, you will be genuinely active and curious to know alot about this forum. 3 months is quite a long time for you to still be clueless about how this forum works. By now, you should be acquainted with the forum rules. You must have known the different boards, sub-boards and their purposes. You should know up to 50% about this forum. What you should be talking about now shouldn't be how to find your way round the forum  but how to gain your confidence and confidently participate in discussions.

It is usually not easy at first, but for an active person, 3 months is a long time not to learn anything.

This is a public forum with no bans on contributing to any discussion, just follow
the topics, dont plagiarise other content, dont post nonsense. Its kind of common
sense and intuition.

With time you will know what boards you can contribute to more.
