When I was reading your article several times, I was mentally prepared to say something like your last paragraph. In the social media platforms where there are promotions the developers of the coins mix many colors and show you about their positive aspects. The aim is to increase their sales.
It is very easy for new investors to make mistakes because they make investment decisions based on social media without taking advice from experienced people and later regret it. However, I was lucky that during the period of loss in the capital market, I joined the forum and learned about investment issues and applied them in practice.

I am gaining knowledge by visiting the investment threads and consulting the advice given by senior members. You will only take a summary from the social media campaigns and focus on your own analysis while making decisions. This is my experience in investment and I claim to be relatively successful as a new investor.

More than enough but I choose to listen to influencers I have learned my lesson.
Twitter is a place for shilling of projects. It's not a place where you get valid information from. If you as a newbie wish to do proper research then twitter would be the wrong place to start from. Just like you said, the days that's given on twitter are mostly misleading and invalid and people don't care to validate before jumping into conclusions. I only use my twitter to know trending information on like not for research. We have a lot of good information here on the forum and even amazing crypto videos on YouTube that one can learn from and become familiar with it's. On forum we get a lot of updates of happenings in the crypto space with enough facts to back them up.

The best place where influencers can get the best of you is Twitter, over 90% of all the crypto content on Twitter are bad for beginners, they are full of misleading information, so don't go and do something stupid and start blaming Twitter for it, users on that platform are looking for users to turn into Exit Liquidity. They will end up telling you to join their YouTube channel where they will fill your head with more nonsense.
Learning about bitcoin or cryptocurrency on X is really bad. Most of the people that post in X are just after engagement, so they just have to be posting positive things about crypto so that people will like their post and share their posts, they always talking about how they make money, and other things like that, as a newbie that don’t have much knowledge about crypto will be mislead because they going to think it’s so easy to make money in crypto space.

People posting on X are just after their pockets, some of them don’t even have much knowledge about the crypto space but they still want to post. If you see any post on X, make sure you verify the post from different sources before you going to believe it. If you are looking for information about crypto or bitcoin, then X isn’t the right place to go. There are some users that share valid informations but they are not much.

This all depends on the personalities you're following on twitter. Before you follow any user on X you must have to do your own due diligence. There are personalities you would never regret following them on X, especially those seasoned bitcoin maxis. Perhaps you can always start with Bitcoin Archive and Bitcoin Magazine. There are host of other good suggestions I believe preceding replies would share too.
Exactly. Twitter can be a reliable source if you are following the right person. But if you fall on those influencers who's clearly just keep filling their own pockets and continue to trick the people, I might say, you fall on the wrong persons.

Sometimes, its not the source that is at fault, but the researcher itself because he fail to do his part on make extensive research first and then compare, but when he is rushing to make research, that's when he is more prone to fall on wrong influencers and gain wrong insights and information.

Well x is a vast platform and it also depends on the type of persons you follow. But as you've said it's not a  good place for beginner or a newbie who don't know how to make research in the first place to use x in getting some of the helpful contents in crypto. I understand there are lots of hypes and traffic in most project on Twitter(X) due to yapping and all of those crypto promotion stuffs but AI on the other hand has made research a lot more easier compared to when you have to scroll through posts on X to get absolutely what you're looking for. There are also other platforms you could use in getting a specific channel on X that gives accurate information about some crypto. One thing I've come to notice is that a lot of people mistake searching for quality research.

That's why it's called research because you are set to find out the hidden and undiscovered truth, which means you have to go on researching from different sources and weigh after which creates the heaviest impact.

So if you only rely on X, there are possibilities that you are not getting the most valid and correct information, which even puts you at risk of being misinformed.

But if you are doing your research the right way possible, there are no chances that you will gain invalid information.

Maximum people follow influencers advice because they don't want to research on Bitcoin or other crypto. Some lazy, some don't have time and some don't know how to do it.
Although maximum influencer fake advice but not all influencer are same. I know some who actually share technical research and give free real advice. They prioritize respect over money.

Imagine asking someone how they do their own research about Bitcoin and crypto then they answer with Twitter.

If you are a beginner I want you to know that X/Twitter has nothing to offer you than Fud, Propaganda nonsense and fake crypto advices.

They will end up telling you to join their YouTube channel where they will fill your head with more nonsense.

It was on Twitter that I was told that Ledger is the best hardware wallet.
It was on Twitter that I was told to bet more on altcoins because they will turn my life around.
It was on Twitter that I was told mining Kaspa is just like mining Bitcoin in 2010.

Not a single advice worked out, do your own research and don't stop learning, this forum was more than enough but I choose to listen to influencers I have learned my lesson.
Your research went wrong because you outsourced thinking to influencers. Twitter rewards hype, not accuracy, so beginners get pushed into narratives that benefit someone else. Real research means reading primary docs, understanding incentives, checking on chain data, and comparing opposing views. Forums, whitepapers, and slow learning beat fast opinions. If advice comes with urgency or profit promises, it is not research.

That literally means one should do their research about the platform before doing their research, lol, but you are actually right because it also depends on who you are following, there could also be good influencers on X or Twitter, but they are pretty hard to find among the crowd because every other person have become an influencer these days, and they all think they are the best among all, but in reality, none of them know much about things they always talk about, and that's a shame, they are teaching newbies things that will only make them have wrong information as they enter the market.

In essence, when we know that a platform has more fake influencers and less real ones, we should avoid that platform because the chances of us getting wrong information every now and then will be very high, and you will need to do a lot of research and everything every time you want to follow an influencer or whenever you read something posted by someone because you wouldn't know if the source if authentic or not, so I think that's a lot of hassle.

As a beginner, going to some kind of social media to learn about crypto is very wrong and the reason is that it is very hard to find the truth there. There are only a few people who always speak the truth and like to give people the best they are supposed to know. One of the reasons is that almost all of them are there because of money, and if someone is doing it because of money, they are not always trustworthy. They will do whatever pays them. Especially influencers once they are paid for promotion, they will focus on that project and may hype it, even if they know that the project may not succeed. When it comes to cryptocurrency, the reliable place is Bitcointalk, or probably Altcointalk. It is not that someone cannot get a mentor from social media but try to know much about the person first before starting to rely on their informations.

You were the architect of your own problems, you had forum made up of organic interactions of actual humans and you went ahead to source information from bots and scammers zone. Twitter lost all its glory when Elon Musk took over, there is almost no originality in verification badge as it now attained cheaply and even scammers can pay to have them.

I got the most prominent enlightenment about crypto here on the forum and since then I have only always sticked to knowledge I got here(not forgetting to verify, but not on social media). Even bitcoin books I'm reading are the ones gotten from here too.

Everyone has different goals when investing in Bitcoin even if they use the same strategy. That's why it's crucial to do independent research when investing in Bitcoin as with any investment. On X or other platforms there are countless sources that can provide insight. Even if we follow professional figures in Bitcoin investing you shouldn't just accept everything they say you need to do your own research.

Use the information you find on X, other platforms, and even in this forum as a reference before making a decision. What I mean is we need to process the information we obtain or collaborate with the results of our own research before making a decision because as I said at the beginning everyone's goals when investing in Bitcoin are different.

Many people do not know what doing your own research means. Social media is not part of the kind of places you want to do research about something like Bitcoin or security and decentralization. Many of the things that all this influencers say on Twitter and other social media platforms are because they want to have engagement and make money not because it is the real information.
You cannot even rely on Google these days because of advert. If they pay an influencer he will tell you that trust wallet is the safest wallet.
Most of people seeing social media as a place where they can get knowledge about the Bitcoin, that’s why we can some prefer to do research on their own the Bitcoin and whereby all those things that most of the influencers give in a twitter instagram not all are really; I know that some are really but out of the 100% is one 40% is really. In this case we keep depending on what those influencers saying we won’t achieve the bests knowledge about the Bitcoin; doing our research is the best key to success in the cryptocurrencies.

Yes, that's absolutely true. I still remember our cryptocurrency forum, when the first altcoin ICOs took place here. There were those groups of developers who paid huge sums of money, and we had to promote their various altcoins on social networks. We were paid in tokens here, and little has changed since then, except that now you can't get paid for it on the forum. And for this, money bloggers on Twitter get paid by promoting all sorts of shitcoins. And they get absolutely real money for it. And that's why Twitter is bad for crypto research. There's a lot of bad advice there for beginners.

But I also want to say that YouTube is a similar dump of crap, where beginners are better off not listening to advice.

These times I do not trust anymore these social media influencers they are just creating hype and engagement so they can get a referral and commission with the project and afterwards if the project gets rug or failed they are now considering themselves not accountable in any damage by their invitations for sure at the end of the video they keep saying they not recommend to invest but they are continously promoting even their gains. If you wanted to make an investment in space you make sure you understand how does the project works, how does the developer seeing the project in the long term such as the road maps. If they handled their users well and not just all about the money. There's no easy money in crypto. Its all risk by your funds and decisions.

Wrongly advice from social media influencer has never yielded any positive results, I think most of the influencers are more in concern of their gain from those that work for, I have followed some of their advice in some altcoin and meme coin in time past that i Lost beyond measure, there is nothing to learn but only make you smarter because you know most of this are more of scam rather than the reality mostly advice from X/ Twitter or Facebook and others social media, there is no genuine information that one can gather from area of such compared that the discussion on the forum gives. Stories of many on advice on social media on crypto has always seem negative mostly my experience was entirely wrong one.

If you aim for a good research, do not settle on twitter as its more of a source of hypes and speculations, that could only add to your endless confusions.

Instead, visit some reliable sources that talk about bitcoin and the crypto space with supported facts that makes it more valid and reliable. The forum itself can be a good start, but never stop there. What we read in the forum are just some short clips, the rest we should read it from a highly reliable source. Or watch some videos from those reputable influencers from youtube just to gain clearer understanding on the subject.

You seem to understand research far better than the OP who created this topic. There's a difference between research and following someone else's perspective, but for those who don't focus too closely on the true meaning, they might be considered the same. Research, however, is about exploring existing data, whether through social media platforms, the market, or other sources that can be used to support its accuracy more precisely. Simply following what others have written or said isn't research; it's simply following the advice of others who may have already made their own mark. So for some people who are still beginners in anything, it will certainly be a little confusing for themselves when they want to look for more correct information for their own knowledge.

Even in this forum, not all members are good and reliable enough, some are just shilling while others are speculating. So you have to know the person well that you wish to follow, that it may not lead gaining the wrong information instead of finding validity on whatever news you read in the forum.

It's a good thing to make a research, but be more logical as well. Don't just easily believe, but care to look for the facts, not just mere speculations.

Yeah, it's great if someone quoted a source to help verify their analysis or data. Unless the topic being discussed is just an opinion that hardly matters, I don't think we have to go that far. Sadly, some people find it hard to accept that nobody is perfect, so it can turn ugly quickly if they rely on others even though they explicitly said it's just an opinion and they should verify it. That being said, some influencers definitely just shill for money if their lack of knowledge is so apparent and consistent.
