While there is a Writing a welcome message that was written years ago in 2018. Why is that topic not pinned in either Meta board or Beginners & Help board?

Pinning it and welcoming 2026 will be meaningful.

First of all, you should have started this thread as a poll.

I don't mean to be rude but I don't think this is really necessary, from the topics you have picked as references you can agree with me that most newbies are just feeling intimidated by these senior ranked members because they are not open for criticism. Another reason why newbies create such thread is because they feel they are stagnant and wish to grow. For example when I was overwhelmed by the way the forum worked months ago so I created this thread which immediately makes me bust into laughter anytime I read it now.

So you can read the welcome message and still be lost in this forum. There are many pinned threads that contains all you need to find your way up around this forum.

These already pinned thread contains more than enough information for a newbie to get started but the problem is that most newbies don't even care reading the content of these pinned thread making them drawn in the ocean of confusion and inferiority complex.

It's absolutely irrelevant to pin that welcome message when we already have the "Newbies - Read before posting" thread pinned in the Beginners and Help board, what other welcome message is more important than this?

A welcome message to contain all the important information about the forum including the forum rules and regulations, ranks and how it work, activities and it's counted plus other important informations just as it is in the "Newbies - read before posting" thread, this thread may not be given the "welcome message" title but it completely serves that purpose perfectly well.

Perhaps it would be best to publish a "To-Do List for This Year" to track any new developments.

Forum development isn't following any public Roadmap, so it's slow, and many good suggestions aren't being implemented.

To be honest, there should be a roadmap or a guide to follow in this coming year then work towards it, it would be that. Although I also understand that forum is not in any rush for whatever thing that is being implemented here, theymos priorities is just for the community to remain clean and safe from any attack and whatever they may seems to bring down the community. So, he would try all his best to make the forum functional.
For me, what I was suggesting is that, the forum should try to upgrade where if you signed up you would receive all the guides on either pm or welcome messages to their respective mails used in making their account, for a wrong and random mail, they can receive them as pm which could served as a welcome notes to their inbox.

I agree with your suggestion, the welcome message should literally be pinned in every board on the forum so that when someone creates account and visit any board for the first time, they will see the welcome message, some new visitors does not view all boards at once that's why the message should be pinned in all board for visibility.

In my opinion I don't like the idea of sending a mail message about all the guidelines of the forum, it could be cumbersome to read all at once doing it that way. A PM with the links only would have being better but then would newbies notice that they have a message to read up there in "MY MESSAGES"? Because even some of us that have been here for that long we don't immediately notice we have received a message if not for the help of the notifier bot we using. Pinning each of those relevant threads in each of the section would be just fine.

He is asking theymos to pin the welcome message, he is not asking opinion of other forum members about it. And even if he made it and result was in his favor, I don't think it would help as this was asked many times in the past, with no result.

Most people still won’t read them and may even see it as spam. Newbies who really want to learn will always pay attention to detail and browse the forum before creating threads. There are pinned threads in B&H which serves as a comprehensive guide for newbies but that doesn’t stop them from creating “how I do earn merit” threads.

The number of times I have spent on beginners and help board, I don't see frequent questions about beginners basic suggestions you mentioned, the only time you see such questions are 1 in every 100 new accounts created. With that said, I believe beginners and help board has serve the purpose of welcome message to guide any newbie that doesn't understand the forum. The fact that Theymos had the intention one time but later abandoned it, then I don't think that update is coming back soon to implementation unless theymos had a change of mind.

There are couple of suggestions that were submitted last year, I'm not sure if there is anyone that was look into already. Maybe there is going to be any update I don't know but it's not going to be about welcome message. Theymos will not make an implementation if it's not that important or demanded by the community, don't bother if it's not security update about the forum or ways to improve users security(the last update like 2FA), sometimes privacy are considered like the "last seen" update.

It's a serious concern but at the end I figured out that people are interested in this kind of topics just because they refuse to see things for what it is, even if you pinned this welcome message on the meta board or the basic boards, how many of them will read the pinned post l? you can see that people even post asking for a particular thread that is pinned or asking questions that they will be referred back to the pinned threads, this only makes me see no reason to even pin it, but it's also not a bad idea.

In my opinion I don't like the idea of sending a mail message about all the guidelines of the forum, it could be cumbersome to read all at once doing it that way. Let the burden of reading it or not be on the shoulder of the newbies that receive the messages without reading it. At least no one will blame the adminis for not providing them with welcome message that will enlighten them about the forum. The most important thing should be that the message was delivered. It's just like some of the users agreement provided by websites we visits or apps we use, most of us don't read them because we feel it's too lengthy, but the company already did their part by providing it, so tomorrow you won't blame them for not providing what should have been a guide to you.
