Every week, new events come from Konami and my friends regularly spend money on them, but I find things ridiculous. I tell them that what they are doing now will regret it in the future.

That's why I said this in the headline, I am smarter than them because I don't spend money on games, but my thinking is that if I stop spending $20 a week on games and keep buying Bitcoin with $20 a week, then after four years my total capital will be over $4,000, and it will not be limited to capital alone because there will definitely be positive changes in the market in this long period of time. Yeah, i can tell that you're decision between you and your friends is the most appropriate and will probably be beneficial in the long run and with your financial decisions. That said, having game accounts can still be useful since they can be sold within the community. Also, playing in moderation or once in a while can help with stress and emotions too.

But you need to be consistent for that to happen, $20 a week or $80 a month is a good DCA strategy or even $20 a month is already good investment for 4 years.

Good plan but dont go calling your friends dumb to their faces. So its easy to
do this and still keep your friends. Not everyone wants to ferret away all their
spare money, some like to spend and enjoy now.

$20 dollars doesnt sound like much per week but over a number of years ot grows
to something worthwhile.

Its also worth mentioning that if you can also see what else you dont need
to buy every week and make a cut to save even more into Bitcoin.

Maybe you're smarter than them but they're definitely happier than you because they're having fun and they're making memories with their friends, that's just how it is I guess, it just so happens that you're not interested in what is fun for them so I don't blame you if you're saying that because we all have our own hobbies and interests that makes us happy, it just so happens that your friends' interests and yours don't align. I have seen a couple of people who spent far more than that, especially in purchasing weapons on video games. I'm not sure of what level of entertainment is that especially when you're not financially strong, but I'm not in any position to judge them because everyone will one day sit down to reflect on the silly things that we ended up doing despite having the chance to avoid them. Well, good one for you OP for choosing to invest. It might not be that massive, but it's definitely something to start with.

What you're doing is pretty good, because where your friends think they can have fun by continuously depositing to build their best virtual team, what you're doing is thinking about spending your money to invest in bitcoin. even though the amount isn't that high, the most important thing in bitcoin investment is your consistency and understanding of long-term bitcoin investment, this is what can make you build your portfolio slowly but surely, and over time you will see your hard work investing so consistently in bitcoin, while your friends on the other hand may have gotten bored with the game and started to leave the game just like that, with no value left, only money that cannot be returned.

It's great that young people are thinking this way Instead of spending their allowance on trivial things like games and other worthless items, I wish they would buy Bitcoin and save it for their future.

This is one of my problems with my son. He's obsessed with the Free Fire game and constantly buys silly skins and emotes. The fact that you are doing this does not mean that you are thinking too much about Bitcoin. The fact that you are doing this means that you are worried a lot about your financial situation. And you do not like to waste money, which is why you want to save that money and create a big financial situation just for the sake of it. Saving in Bitcoin is a really smart idea, so I applaud you for this. In some places, this money could last you six months, but again, it's not the kind of money that anyone would really regret losing. However, this does not mean that you should not invest in Bitcoin. It is definitely worth doing, and it can be not only money not spent on computer games, but also part of your salary or part of your business income, depending on the situation. There always this something about gamers that I keep wondering, though don't think they spend those money on players or kits for no reason. They usually use them to play at an advantage on paid tournaments.

Ideally they get their money back if they win depending on their level of skills. But to me, they are wasting precious time and resources spending both on games that might seize to exit later on.

This is a very rational thinking. Purchases made in in-game give excitement that are short term yet no lasting worth the moment game vanishes or the  rules changes. Deciding to invest that same $20 on weekly basis into Bitcoin established discipline, ownership, and optionality of long term. Indeed, you are correct to say you are smarter than your friend.  You spend your money wisely and even think of buying Bitcoin instead of the game currency.

Imagine if you continue buying BTC every week for $20  and constantly doing that for 4 years or more.  There is a high chance that you do not need to work for the rest of your life when you eventually decided to sell your holdings, especially if you time it when BTC is breaking ATH.

This reminds me of the time when Clash games were popular. Maybe they still are, but they were such cash cows. I remember playing it for free with friends and eventually stopping because they were just too time-consuming and no matter how much time you put into the game you'd always lose to a "pay for win" player.

I casually talked to some guys in game and it was normal for them to spend $50 a month on some boosters. They'd simply dedicate that amount of money treating it like it's a Netflix subscription. One guy that I talked to spent $4k just to be one of the strongest players on the server, but here's the catch. There were hundreds of worlds and each world had a separate economy with similar players wanting to be "the best" but they'd be the best in their own group not knowing how powerful someone on another server is. It was buying them a false sense of security. I'd never pay for it. Once you realize this and see through the scam, you'll never spend money in these monetized games.

I still play games and buy stuff on Steam from time to time, but games that allow you to spend real money with no limit are a scam. They take advantage of human need to collect stuff and become better, but in this case you're buying nothing. Just a temporary boost of confidence that will disappear once they shut down the server.

Delayed gratification is a wealth skill and even if our OP indulges himself once or twice for awhile, I doubt it would stop his investment plan which if course is DCAing,  no matter the amount that is consistently used.
Being smart and proactive is better than being smart and waiting for the right moment. That moment to start investing in Bitcoin is now and it would pay off well in the future if it isn't diversified or liquidated before it gets to a decade.
