This is a free world, where everyone is free to do as they please with their money, as long as it brings them joy. I don't think everyone will take the path we are taking, which is to invest in Bitcoin every week.

I agree with this. I remember when I was younger and spent money on Runescape membership. I could have been saving money since then, but at same time, I would be giving up on having a lot of fun on something I truly enjoyed. We have to take into consideration that those times of entertainment are also important to mould who we are today. And during the harsh times of our lives, things become more bearable when you think on those good entertaining memories you built in the past.

So, it's not totally worthless, neither ephemeral. They have a very important purpose, while someone existing just to save money, without giving himself any pleasure or enjoyable moment is more likely to not have anything on his emotional repertoire to hold on when everything on the present moment seems doomed to failure.

Buying $20 Bitcoin is a good way to start investing in Bitcoin as you slowly accumulate and also learn more about investing strategies for Bitcoin, and hodl over the years for a bigger portfolio.

But I do believe, your friend spending money on game doesn't mean that he is making a mistake or should rather invest the money buying Bitcoin instead of Gaming. Also anyone can still spend on Game and also invest; some can spend on Game and not invest but still live a good life or invest into some asset aside Bitcoin.

Trying to advice someone that is so locked in to something might seem like a waste of time because most persons with that level of addiction are blinded by the pleasure they enjoy from these kinds of things, and you standing against their decision might feel like an enemy to them especially when they claim they're using these careless habits to solve their depression problems. Sometimes it's justified, you can't force anyone to invest at start and it's not "smart" if you prioritize investment than them. They play games because it's an entertainment, maybe this is their way to endure stress. I myself did the same thing, i play games because it's fun and now I'm doing both, crypto and monetizing those games I play. Technically you are right but life is not fair like they said. I used to see some people among my friend cycle as people that are not serious with academic studies, I was seeing them less because they weren't not serious about their books, research and others but guess what? They are living better than me because they have a better networking than me, even if I'm saved the little I have back then, I don't think I will level up to their standards, life happens you.

However, I like your courage for trying to be different, $20 a year is $1k, by 4 that's $4k in 4 years. I agree with what you said, I have been on this forum for almost 10 years and have never cared about my friends who don't understand Bitcoin, unless they come home to learn I will teach them.
For me it was the most sensible choice. Not everyone needs to be convinced and not everyone is ready to accept the same explanation. So far I have been more comfortable focusing on my own journey, learning from discussions, from mistakes and from time. When someone comes with the intention of really wanting to understand, then I share as much as I know. The rest is left to experience that speaks, because in the end that understanding must grow from each one's awareness.

Or you can do it monthly. If someone want to hodl for many years, you can reduce the time. So $100 once a month is $1,200 per year, or $3,600 in 3 years. If you keep this money in FIAT, you will probably lose 2+X% per year due to inflation. But no one can predict the future, we can only speculate. But bitcoin has freedom to use your money at any time. Maybe you buy once a month, and no panic if the price falls.

While this is true, there is a flip side to this story. Yes, we can do this with everything, people who buy coffee everyday, people who order food from outside, people who go to movies, people who watch netflix and pay for subscriptions.

As you can see, if you end up judging people from what they spend their money on, anyone who doesn't live in a cardboard box and eat rice all day, spends excessive money, you can simply live near a dumpster and eat trashed food and save ALL of your money.
