What are the reasons for addictions

I'm not expert in behavior and don't have a history of fighting addictions, but from my perspective and the things I've seen...  I think that the main cause of addiction is the lack of positive influence on someone's life.  It is hard to be addicted to anything and let it negatively effect your life when you're surrounded by people who love you and positive activities that you love to do.

Everyone may have their own reasons for becoming addicted to gambling. But when I look back at some of the people I have met who are addicted to gambling, I can see that from the beginning they had some problems in their personal lives that led them to seek escape and pleasure in gambling. And usually, those who have never been good at controlling their emotions are the ones who become gambling addicts the most. And this is true OG, and there are who could still be lacking this energy as they didn't see it as something very important to them while gamblings, whenever people are often seen or detected to be addictive then I must say that person is already closer to his destruction in life that is why they should be that regulated and also applying some forms of moderation while gambling to reduce how quickly and easier one could get addiction and affected mentally, physically and otherwise biologically where who would start affecting everyone surrounding him.

If you do it repetitively, there is a big chance that you'll get addicted to it. But not everyone who does it again and again will be addicted to it.

So here comes to show how we're responsible we are as gamblers and even if we're doing it for so many times daily, weekly and even monthly.

We're not yet addicted to it at least we're not going to be and that's because we're responsible enough that we know how to control it and, we'll not fall for it.

Economic demands usually compelling people to find quick entertainment and this is the cause of further continuation of economic losses as compared to earlier. You are correct in your argument that technology convenience with devices has increased the rate at which this vice has been propagated across the society without a doubt. We must also be cautious of revenge craving in the wake of a loss because it will end up consuming our energies and resources during the process. Lack of emotional control makes it uncomplicated to go in the wrong direction in the face of huge temptations.

You're right about this, lack of positive influence can lead to addiction . doing something without having a positive mindset  always end up spoiling things, of course this has happened to me several times when I'm doing something if I'm thinking negative instead of positive things usually get spoilt but when I'm positive minded then everything go smoothly and that's how it is in gambling. If you're thinking negative, when you incur loss you start panicking and still want to keep going, while those that has positive mindset will quit after few loses.

I'm a low staker but that doesn't give me the excuse to gamble consistently because I'm using small amounts to play. It is always gambling though of small money but still, it is a pattern of unhealthy behaviour and is harmful to our lives. We should know that as an addict, we will not depend on the amount that is bet, but rather the frequency of how we tend to allow our minds to attach on the imaginary dream of winning. We have to take a step to prevent so as to save our mental health feeling anxious which can occur anytime. By quitting this habit we will have room to expand to be productive individuals without the spectre of material failure.

I believe so. If you have money and poor bankroll management. I always preferred for someone to do a risk assessment before they start gambling because people with high risk tolerance usually the that get addicted because they can endure the loses even though they are already not gambling responsibly.

Yeah that was a combo respond. Most addicted gamblers fell into the victim because their risk levels has become so tolerance that they don't even realize when the risks are becoming unbearable.

The main cause is ourselves, not from other things or other factors. When we do gambling unwisely or outside the concept of pleasure then it is a sign of addiction. I'm not surprised by this topic because it's been around many times. I think consistent gambling can make someone go crazy, especially when you don't have something doing you would be eager to make money by force which can easily result to gambling addiction. If you check very well now you will see that there are people that are not doing anything at home so they see gambling as their only source of income, but that is not a good idea because it will still not afford to pay your bills, rather it will lead to addiction because gambling doesn't have any easy way to make money.

I think consistent gambling can make someone go crazy, especially when you don't have something doing you would be eager to make money by force which can easily result to gambling addiction.

surely consistent gambling will definitely make someone go crazy if they persist. it can lower a person IQ, cause depression, tiredness and fatigue, sometimes loss of memory and all that. it is also not good to gamble because a person has nothing to do for survival or livelihood, because that is the worst of it all. that person will gamble like his whole world depends on it. and the loses and depression will be tremendous.

If you check very well now you will see that there are people that are not doing anything at home so they see gambling as their only source of income, but that is not a good idea because it will still not afford to pay your bills, rather it will lead to addiction because gambling doesn't have any easy way to make money.

i have seen this set of people around the street roaming around like mad people when they are even still reasonable, just that frustration is knocking in the door of their future. it is totally unacceptable and highly despicable for some to make gambling a source of income in the absent of no job.

Yes, I do think so. The addiction to gamble more comes from 2 things: Greed and Desperation

Like either you are greedy and want to make money from gambling nonstop. Else you are desperate for money and looking for an easy way to earn so via gambling. Can't think of another reason why someone would be addicted to gambling.

Someone who is not looking to make money from gambling would be happy with the wins and leave or if they lose they will just accept the loss and move on. The desperation and/or greed to win more money is where it gets ugly.

Oh, I know about mental health firsthand. From personal experience. There was a time when I lost a huge sum of money at a casino. I was deeply shattered mentally. It definitely left its mark. I suffered from depression for several long years. It was hard to cope with the thought of having to pay back that money. All because it was borrowed money. I let my family down. No one close to me could have imagined I was capable of such a thing, but reality put everything into perspective.

IMHO the only reason for gambling addiction is lack of better things to do. If I've got a job, there is no way I can spend more than a few hours gambling. Gambling a few hours for fun is not a problem and in fact, gambling can be a really good and quick stress buster for some. You come tired from the office and make some bets on NFL games, then have a good laugh watching them can never be bad.

This is why kids are at a high risk of getting addicted to gambling because they don't have much of anything to do. So if they start gambling, there is a high chance they get addicted because gambling also gives you adrenaline rush.
