In my country and society, people often don't respect gamblers. I don't consider gambling as fun when you are addicted to it. If you try to gamble once monthly or weekly, then it would be for fun, trying with little money. But unfortunately people want to become rich from the gambling, though they don't consider it their only source of income. I don't remember the mainstream media and the majority of the people ever having a positive view about gambling.

Actually this is basing up on someones personal perspective and there's no such thing about that in the past it was that really considered or being treated to be just that for fun as there are still those addicted ones who ended up on destroying their lives because of too much addiction to gambling and resulting into big debt or they had lost their life savings. On the contrary, I believed that more people are going to gamble, specially now that we have the options to go online too. Before it was just land base casinos, so every weekend, you have to set a time and date for you and your friends to go out and gamble.

Now, it's everywhere, you can play anytime you want because there are more casinos that are online now. So I doubt that there are people saying bad about gambling. Obviously, the narrative hasn't change. Majority plays to look for profits and win big.

I don't know about others  but for me I never see gambling as something of fun rather something to make money right from time. Except fun you mean is people watching football in football viewing center, apart from that, The only fun in gambling I know of is placing bet and hoping the potential win could come for you to execute your plans. I think you're exaggerating, this has always been the case. There have always been those who were dissatisfied because they lost, and there have been those who managed to win, although their numbers have always been smaller.
