Bitcoin investment isn't something you should rush into. Even though time is important, investors should first have a basic understanding of what they're getting into. By research, I don't mean mastering every technical aspect of Bitcoin before buying. I mean understanding the fundamentals—knowing that Bitcoin is a volatile asset, learning about the risks involved, and being aware of both the positive and negative experiences of other investors.
My point is that even with this basic knowledge and enough discretionary income, some people still panic and sell because they weren't psychologically prepared for market volatility. That's why emotional discipline is just as important as financial knowledge. Understanding that investing involves risk and proper risk management is what helps investors stay committed during difficult market conditions.
You've made some good points but you don't need to know about other people experience before you can start buying bitcoin, if you are looking for experience then get yours by starting your own journey, people talk about emotional discipline a lot and while I support that it's something every bitcoin investor should have I would also argue that actually starting to buy bitcoin using a tolerable amount of your discretionary income and then experiencing these ups and downs of bitcoin is the way to go in finding out how disciplined you are and how likely you are to keep buying and to keep holding even when the market looks unfriendly.

I was just wondering what one need experience for in bitcoin investment, is bitcoin investment a work where employers are looking for a skilled  or experienceed personal? there is no need for experience in bitcoin investment, what someone need is the basic knowledge on how they can open or create a wallet, deposit, buy and also learn how to secure their wallet because once someone gets your seed phrase everything in that wallet will be wipe out and lastly, someone need to have the long term goal because bitcoin isn't an asset you can buy today and be expecting profit the next day.
I think you've misunderstood the point being made. No one said Bitcoin investing is like a job where only experienced people can participate. The point was simply that you don't need to rely on other people's experiences before you start investing. As quoted by ZeroVinsonN: "You don't need to know about other people's experience before you can start buying Bitcoin. If you're looking for experience, then get yours by starting your own journey."
What this means is that while learning from others is helpful, it can never replace your own experience. The real test of your emotional discipline comes when you experience Bitcoin's volatility yourself. That's when you discover whether you can stick to your investment plan instead of making emotional decisions.
I also think your definition of the basic knowledge required before investing is not accurately it. Knowing how to create a wallet, buy Bitcoin, and secure your seed phrase is important, but that's not really what we mean in this contex, when we say basic knowledge we mean
● Understanding what Bitcoin is and why it was created.
● Knowing that Bitcoin is highly volatile and being mentally prepared for price swings.
● Investing only discretionary funds that you can afford to leave untouched for years.
● Having a clear investment strategy, such as DCA, instead of chasing short-term price movements.
● Having a long-term investment horizon rather than expecting quick profits.
● Understanding basic risk management and avoiding emotional decisions driven by fear or greed.

What you have pointed out doesn't really fall into the category of basic knowledge, a newbie who wants to start investing in bitcoin doesn't need to know about securing their asset behind a seed phrase before they can start buying bitcoin even though it would be a plus for an investor, it is not a criteria for being able to start investing and neither is experience needed before we start as well, but the moment you start buying bitcoin and you hold through price changes you are already building your own experience so even though you didn't need it to start it will definitely be a part of your journey.
I think you brought up a really important point that most beginners would miss. Investing in Bitcoin doesn't mean you need to be a pro in everything related to technical aspects like seed-phrases and other important security measures right from the get-go. Of course, there are important concepts for long-term security, but we shouldn't have to know everything before getting started. We need to jump in.

Once a person begins buying, experiencing the markets, ups and downs, the practical knowledge of trading comes naturally. This practical experience alone teaches a lot compared to mere theory. With experience, a person will naturally seek to understand how they can safely secure their investments as part of their investing behavior and growth. Therefore, no prior expertise nor deep knowledge is needed in order to begin.

I might have responded to a similar discussion in another thread but I have to clear the impression of knowing it all before investing cause what some folks see as basic knowledge might be too tough for some to comprehend and keep them waiting to know it instead of buying Bitcoin with their discretionary funds.

What investors need to start buying is their discretionary funds, maybe other knowledge can fall in line later. The knowledge of Bitcoin investment is broad so instead of investors to spend time learning new stuffs, such attention should be channeled into buying then the investor would gradually understand it better as time goes.

Very good point, but do you really think it's smart(investment wise) to get all of this fully sorted out before folks can kickstart their accumulation journey...It could actually take quite some time to get all this sorted out, and for some folks, it could probably take a month or two, while for others probably a year, since various folks have different level of learning...But then, if  you plan is to invest for long term duration, then that makes it even more easier to invest as long as you have your Discretionary income and then learn as you go.. As for learning as you go that seems to be the best decision coz just as you are learning, you are as well experiencing physically what you are learning... For example, like in the case of volatility, what best way to understand Bitcoin volatility if not by experience?...And while learning if need be, you can make the necessary adjustments while still in the process of investing...

With bitcoin investment it's just a matter of priority and for every bitcoin investor the priority should be to to accumulate bitcoin and not to become a bitcoin professor because at the end of the day all of that knowledge will become pointless if you are actually not buying and holding bitcoin so instead of dwelling on getting to know most of what bitcoin entails before you start buying you should instead try to figure out your discretionary income, see if you are able to generate it or not and if you can't try to work on how to change that so you will be able to generate discretionary income and buy bitcoin from there, with time the knowledge you want will become a part of you but actually becoming an investor will be what motivates, without it you might lose interest along the way and mot even learn anything again.

I cannot agree with your statement.
If you have some prior knowledge or understanding of any subject the task becomes much easier. If you know the basics of what is discretionary income what is emergency fund and why is it so important to have an emergency fund or how DCA works it is much easier and safer to get into investing. However if someone is just sitting around in the name of learning and putting off real work or investment it is nothing more than an excuse. Bitcoin is a huge subject. Even if you read thousands of books or watch thousands of online classes you will never learn 100% about Bitcoin until you go out into the field and observe the market and get real experience. So in short I want to say that having basic knowledge before starting investment is definitely a very good thing but postponing or holding back investment decisions in the name of learning is just foolishness and I never support it.

It's very easy to get the basic knowledge needed for a bitcoin investor to invest in bitcoin, most time people tell themselves that they are trying to get basic knowledge to invest and they end up delaying for a very long period of time until they finally realize that it was all a waste of good investment time.
Anyone who wants to invest in bitcoin shouldn't delay their accumulation because they are afraid they don't have enough knowledge to be able to HODL successfully, the best way to know if you can handle bitcoin investment is to actually start investing in bitcoin.

From my own point of view, life itself is a gamble. You wake up in the morning and you go out without even considering that you might not come back home safe. What do I mean by this, as humans it is very okay for us to take some risk in life, being it in Bitcoin or any other business, humans have become too scared to take risk these days. Your friend did the right thing. I won't blame him. I'm sure lot of us would have done the same thing. At the end of the day, a lesson was learnt, but we should stop relying on the things we learn on YouTube. We should always do a proper research, reach out to people for help. Self knowledge is not enough.

Like you said your friend made some money and he loses some too. I think it's a bit balanced, for everyone involved in Bitcoin would understand that sometimes market is bad. We shouldn't be emotional about everything, just learn the simple lesson and move on.

I think we should know there is a difference between Trading and investing. His friend started with the intention of investing and after making profit he quickly switched to trading. Sometimes a lot of people make these mistakes of mistaking trading to investing. We should know bitcoin is a volatile asset, so if is unpredictable, that is why is advisable to kick start your bitcoin journey with what you can actually afford to lose.

These mindset of a trader is what get to his friend, and I believe he invested with more than his discretionary income, that why he his all emotional. When you chose to do invest rather than to trade, especially for a long period of time, you tend to be less emotional about how the market is moving, especially when you investing with your discretionary income.

What do you consider basic knowledge. The moment the new investor is able to figure out his discretionary income, he can start investing because he only need to know where he can buy his bitcoin from and start buying bitcoin while he learn the rest as he's investing weekly to expand his knowledge through experience. A lot of people put unnecessary part of bitcoin as basic knowledge which will delay their investment from getting started because they want to learn it.

Any new investor who is already used to saving money in bank for long from his income will easily cope with his DCA purchases weekly in the beginning because instead of putting all the money in the bank, he put part of it into bitcoin.

Just because there is a level of risk involved in something doesn't mean it's the same as gambling, this kind of mindset is why a lot of people treat their bitcoin investment the same way they treat gambling and that's just wrong, if you are looking for something to compare to gambling then maybe try comparing trading to gamble instead.
It's good that people learn from their mistakes but if they were careful enough then they wouldn't have had to make that mistake in the first place, anyone who is investing in bitcoin should know that bitcoin investment is long term and that they shouldn't be considering taking short term profits from it.

Risk is everywhere, so we cannot call everything a gamble. If we take every step with great caution, our risk is greatly reduced. Why always rely on others, even if you learn something from somewhere personally, you should not follow it completely according to its information. You have to do your own research and move forward according to the path that you are able to create through your own research. Whenever you follow someone else, you can go the wrong way or take the wrong decision and you may never be able to face the danger.

You may be failing to understand the difference between investing and trading. Investing is long-term, such as your investment period of 4 to 10 years, and trading is short-term, such as 1 month or 1 day. No person has ever faced loss by investing in Bitcoin.

There are some risks in every job and every field in our life, but the risks of every job are not the same, some are less risky and some are much more risky. There are comparative risks in every field like doing business, being an entrepreneur, investing in Bitcoin, but we certainly do not make decisions based on luck in each of these fields because through planning, knowledge and proper management, we can reduce the risk and increase the chances of success. So, although gambling is completely based on luck, research and discipline in investment play an important role in success. However, making emotional decisions and entering into investments based on emotions can cause problems later and as a result, the investor may suffer. In this case, the right mindset is also necessary. Making decisions due to excessive greed or making decisions due to excessive frustration can both worsen the results. However, in the long run, the characteristics of a successful investor should be to learn from every experience and improve his decision-making ability.

That's why people should choose their risk wisely, if you ask between investment and trading, I'll ask people to embrace investment with reason that our economy is getting very bad as the year goes and holding Bitcoin might be risky but can serve as an inflation hedge likewise offering financial freedom on the long run.

Trading doesn't have such features, you lose and lose out then try again with another fund but history has thought us that money lost in investing through volatility is recovered with time and the more consistent and investor is the more the investor would be able to beat volatility as time passes, so it's a better risk than the other.

I agree that the key difference isn't simply investment vs. gambling but how decisions are made. Bitcoin investing can become gambling the moment someone abandons a strategy and starts chasing quick profits or trying to recover losses emotionally.
Long-term investors accept volatility as part of the asset, while gamblers depend on short-term outcomes they can't control. Research, risk management, and patience are what separate the two—not the asset itself.
If your investment thesis remains valid and you've invested money you don't urgently need, volatility alone doesn't mean you've failed. But if you're using leverage, investing blindly, or putting in money you can't afford to lose, you've already shifted from investing toward speculation.
In the end, Bitcoin doesn't make people gamblers; poor discipline does. A solid plan will always outperform emotional decision-making over time

You may be failing to understand the difference between investing and trading. Investing is long-term, such as your investment period of 4 to 10 years, and trading is short-term, such as 1 month or 1 day. No person has ever faced loss by investing in Bitcoin.
You can exactly preach bitcoin investment as some foolproof means of success, history may have shown us that no matter what happens bitcoin will still find a way to recover but that doesn't mean that success in bitcoin investment is guaranteed, the simple truth is that bitcoin can starting from today not increase or even decrease in price again, it could even start decreasing with no hope of ever recovering, the chances of this happening are very low but they are not zero, why do you think thst people invest with money they can afford to is success is already guaranteed from the start? It's because success isn't guaranteed, it's just more likely to be successful as a bitcoin investor than as a bitcoin trader.

,when we say basic knowledge we mean
● Understanding what Bitcoin is and why it was created.
● Knowing that Bitcoin is highly volatile and being mentally prepared for price swings.
● Investing only discretionary funds that you can afford to leave untouched for years.
● Having a clear investment strategy, such as DCA, instead of chasing short-term price movements.
● Having a long-term investment horizon rather than expecting quick profits.
● Understanding basic risk management and avoiding emotional decisions driven by fear or greed.
It is good to have the right mindset before starting to invest in bitcoin because there are people that may enter with the wrong mindset that bitcoin is a get rich quick scheme. With the expectations that ones they invest in bitcoin that they will become wealthy and they will end up messing there bitcoin investment up especially when the market seems to move against them. So before anyone invest in bitcoin, aside figuring out there discretionary income, there is need for them to know that bitcoin only rewards long term investors.
Talking about experienceing some things as an investor continue with there bitcoin investment, there are things that we may not want to experience and there are mistakes that should be avoided. So knowing somethings before starting and not wanting to make a mistake because we want to learn from experience is the wise thing to do.

There are some risks in every job and every field in our life, but the risks of every job are not the same, some are less risky and some are much more risky. However, in the long run, the characteristics of a successful investor should be to learn from every experience and improve his decision-making ability.

When you say holding bitcoin might be risky you’re indirectly advising people to sell off their bitcoin holdings quickly if they notice a little downturn caused as a result of an economy getting bad which is actually a traders mindset who’s in for quick gains which is a step towards bitcoin gambling instead of investing. A long term investor should be focused more on consistently accumulating bitcoin and hold regardless of market volatility or when there’s a market downturn. The key is patience and consistency while accumulating bitcoin and not to panick  when you notice a downturn in price of bitcoin. Most panic sell is as a result of investing with a non discretionary funds, using money meant to be used for sorting basic needs to invest in bitcoin. The key is to invest with not more than one can afford To lose. Do DCA, buy the dip when you can and hold,  Investing with the DCA method helps to mitigate the impact of the risk associated with bitcoin investment.

Even trading can't be compared to gamble, you seem to have forgotten that gambling is a game of pure chance, the reason why I said it's a game of pure chance is because it does not involve strategies or skills the outcome of wining also depend on chance. No matter the effort/ knowledge you built in gambling if you're not lucky there is no way you would win. But as for trading I believe there are people who are making profit from trading even though it doesn't come all the time but they are doing absolutely well than those gamblers out there, forget the fact that people are proclaiming that trading is very risky if you have the knowledge and also a good strategy, you will get profited. The reason why it's as if trading is now becoming more risky than before is due to the fact that many people are now jumping into trading without even getting the best knowledge. And we all know that trading is not something you would say; let me learn the basic things maybe on the process of trading then I will learn more nah. In trading you have to learn everything before getting started that is the reason why Bitcoin investment is the best among all because it doesn't require enough knowledge and also, there is no stress when you are investing in bitcoin especially for long term.

Trading, shitcoins are all gambling because you will run at loss in the long. No matter how many little profits you have made from trading, you will lose everything in just one trade. It's easy to say people are making money in trading but I haven't seen any. This isn't a trading trade but a bitcoin investment trade so don't hype trading here in order not to mislead newbies for them to think that trading is profitable because it's a waste of time, energy and resources.

Long term bitcoin investment is what everyone in the cryptospace should be into because that's the major reason the cryptospace exist since bitcoin has proven to be a long-term store of value overtime before these copy cat shitcoin devs contaminated the market with their endless shitcoins.
