It is indeed not good if you are the one sponsoring people to gamble.  They got the entertainment, possibly half of the profit if they win and you alone will shoulder the losses if things don't go well.

I have never been tempted in such a way to bet in a game or event which could have given me "guaranteed" profits. I believe it is a very cheap and bad way to promote betting, so bookies can get more volume and then more money from desperate people. Very low, in my opinion.

Honestly, this new year I am going to become a more responsible and more conscious gambler than I was back in 2025 and 2024, I am going to increase my volume a bit, but at the same time, I will also be careful with casino games, I will give the bulk of my attention to sports, specially football and a bit of basket/baseball. Casino games are fun, but they ultimately drain our pockets faster than betting.

That's a very nice approach to treat every game the same; as long as you don't put your confidence on it, everything will be fine, and you won't have to stake higher amounts like what the OP was describing. I also take games from others, but I take time to go through the game before I put my money on it, not like I stake on it blindly. We just have different ways we look at the games predicted by others.

The way to avoid people like that is to borrow money to gamble to prove his words are true or not, directly the neighbor will not continue his gamble because he knows it's just a baseless belief in him, I always do this way to my friends, they invite me to bet because they believe in something like the right time, can dream, and so on and continue to convince me to bet, it's not strange that friends are like this, but if we borrow money from him to prove his beliefs he starts to doubt himself and nothing happens that you think is a trap.

You have a crazy neighbor and it's good you stood your ground and refused his offer, who goes to people's house just to offer them a game to bet on these days? And I still don't understand what he wanted from you, he was very sure of the game but why isn't he playing it for himself too? Or he wanted you to use your own money to bet and if there's a win you split it in half with him since he was the one that brought the game? I am Luck to never experienced anything like this and I think it is because I keep my gambling habits all time in private... not even my closest family members know that I gamble... So, I think this trap is quite common: to someone who is confident in something and wants "help" to increase bet just because they feel certain of the outcome.
You know what the problem with that is??? Even if you win, it will haunt you more and more, so it's best to get out of it before even the first bet.

Same here, yes, there are some offers, but I am not swayed, no matter how enticing it is, after all, the offer is not a sure win deal, and we have to risk funds to have the chance to win that deal.  For me this is a very risky thing for my money since the offer is too good to be true ( you know what I mean).

What you have done is the best, why is he imposing it on you, placing a game is done willingly and not to be imposed by any one.
