I like the fact that b1exch.to offers a free AML checker. I wish more and more exchanges started offering free AML checkers to encourage users to know if the source of their funds is clean or not before they get surprised by sudden freezing of funds for reasons they have no idea about. I was just wondering if b1exch.to plans to add support for Bitcoin, which is the major coin.

The AML checker does support bitcoin. It's just not in the dropdown menu for some reason. Just leave it on "auto detect" and it would do its job as mentioned on the page: Other addresses (BTC, XMR, SOL, TRON, LTC…) are detected automatically. You can also paste a transaction hash to screen both parties of that transfer.
For someone dealing with large sums of money, and who wants to avoid any headache, it's advisable to use more than one checker just to be on the safe side. As for exchanges offering this, I have noticed that Bybit do offer this but only for its VIP users (limited usage).

Their AML checker has not been working for the past few days. I have tested their AML checker several times since examplens reported the issue with it in this post, and every single time, I got the same error message.

I havent seen other users here get short with their minimum deposits most of the time is minimum to above minimum amount, I guess for the new comers possible who havent made a swap for their first time such as deducting the fees to the total amount but seems rarely seen this nowadays.
Yes, you're right these days people are smart enough to swap higher amounts than the minimum required amount but again you're right about new comers especially those who try the platform for first time. They try to check the platform with lowest acceptable amount possible and for such people minimum amount is set so they may not create orders below that amount.

A difference of more than 50% is a huge gap for an aml checker result, especially when both services are supposedly assessing the same address or transaction. I guess trying another aml checker may give you a hint on which is more accurate.

Do the other services also allow you to select the number of hops? I am asking because b1eXch allows you to select the number of hops, and different number of hops may result in different AML scores.

I have tried a couple of them before and neither allowed selecting the number of hops. That's not necessarily bad though, from my understanding, those services still check for multiple hops and then the score is based on far it is basically. An address who have a long distance connection with a mixer is not going to have the same score as one with a direct connection. @rdluffy 63% coming from where exactly? If the overall score says Medium or high risk, and the funds are originating from Mixers, or sanctioned entities, I'd be careful to deposit that money to a CEX, especially if you cannot trace them back and remember where they originated from.

Everyone must keep in mind that this is just a check and does not necessarily mean that it is accurate. As far as I can see, the data in the database has not been updated for 81 days, that's when this AML checker was created. So all changes made in the meantime are not covered by this check. And there was a lot of that, starting with the Coldcard fiasco Source 'bundled-seed' snapshot is 81 days old (> 2d SLA).

And why do different numbers of hops result in different AML scores? What is the ideal number of hops to use in a usual check?

Hops = going transactions back to see from where the coins came from For example, you can send your coins to an address, then from that address to another one, and so on… 5 times done that = 5 hops

Blockchain analysis services like Chainalysis and Elliptic do not rely solely on simple distance tracking to assess address-related risks. adding more hops will not significantly alter the analysis results. And why do different numbers of hops result in different AML scores? What is the ideal number of hops to use in a usual check?
if used exchange service does rely on simple distance tracking, adding some hops would indeed clean your coins.

It is really difficult, I thought the very difficult ones were only given to us Onion users however. Being used to limited Internet experience due to my non Java Script Tor usage, having to complete that was just another normal day of browsing for me!

The other service I used doesn't say how many hops there are, so I can't say, maybe this is the reason to have such difference What it does show is the origins of the coins, whether they come from trusted, suspicious, or dangerous sources But in any case, I believe this difference isn’t a problem if you want to use b1exch, since as long as the site itself has good AML measures in place, we shouldn’t have any issues, the AML they’ve tested is sufficient for them Better to trust in b1exch AML if you want to use b1exch

Did you try increasing the number of hops in b1eXch's AML checker and see if the result becomes closer to the results from the other tools? But in any case, I believe this difference isn’t a problem if you want to use b1exch, since as long as the site itself has good AML measures in place, we shouldn’t have any issues, the AML they’ve tested is sufficient for them
Right, but we still don't know how many hops are enough. If I get low AML score with one hop and high AML score with five hops, I can't be sure that b1eXch will accept my deposit.

b1exch will certainly accept your deposit and, according to the current way of doing business, will regularly pay you the coins you expect from the swap. b1exch is not an exchange that will require KYC or freeze funds at any time due to a high AML score. The tool (AML checker) they made is more of an informative tool than a condition for treating your coins on their part.

I think hops without mixing the coins with others are useless. They wont fool decent AML checkers or any blockchain analysis If you just the transfer the whole balance of an address to another one (even if many times), or to a few ones and then join them again (or not) it wont increase your privacy.

The other service I used doesn't say how many hops there are, so I can't say, maybe this is the reason to have such difference
I tested this here with one of my BTC addresses, it's a different address from the one I had tested before Whether I used 1, 5, or 10 hops, the result was the same: AML 8 out of 100 Other tool: My conclusion is exactly what I said: if I'm going to use b1exch, I'll use their AML, which should be safe since it's the same standards they use themselves For other services, it's best to analyze each case individually so you don't have to go through KYC

All of this AML score thing is kind of random. I've seen people report high AML risk after withdrawing funds from well known CEX's so anyone can end up with "high risk coins". How many hops are you guys using? this tool allows up to 10. How is someone responsible for the past previous 10 transactions? It's kind of crazy, you deposit money in a CEX and you are responsible for the previous transactions even tho you did nothing illegal in order to obtain it. What remains a question is, how are such free tools obtaining data from? What databases do they use? And how many hops does CEX's use? Do they check 3, 5, 100, 1000 hops? at which point it becomes ridiculous for them to freeze funds? It would also be interesting comparing these free tools to industry standard, private AML checking tools to see their accuracy. I assume the professional AML checking tools are the most accurate as they may be working with Chainalysis and co in order to get the most up to date results, however, in order to use them you have to dox yourself. So as most people hold high risk AML coins, even tho they did nothing bad, if you hire a professional to screen your funds on such tools, what happens as you are doxed and now it's known you hold these coins? These things are important if you are trying to cash out bigger amounts, as you are going to need the best report possible, but im not sure how people deal with high risk AML coins in a situation where you are doxed and you are just trying to liquidate some funds, do things legally and go about your business. I guess it depends on how rational each jurisdiction is with these situations, but im afraid they all threat crypto users that did anything outside of your average CEX as a potential criminal trying to launder money, and so they complain when people do not want to pay taxes, well they are pushing crypto users away from doing so.
