Not really, betting isn't reallya show of passion for sports but a lot of people that love sports are bettors not because they are expressing their devotion for the game they love, they just love betting. Yeah, I know few don't see it so. It's the many that consider it a show of passion that I refer to.
Talking about killing the game, it has really killed the game of sports. It's even influencing those that follow sports for passion. An Arsenal Fan who bets for Arsenal to win with more than one goal, and arsenal wins with just one zero, as an arsenal fan, one should be happy that his thing won but because they didn't get what they staked, there day is ruined.

I don't think that betting is done because of the passion gamblers have for the game. I have seen gamblers who bet and don't care about watching the game, all they're after is who wins the game. Profit is the major reason why gamblers bet on a match even though, some claim they do it for fun.

However, a gambler can choose to stake a little amount on a sport he's passionate on in order for him to enjoy the fun to the highest level once in a while. If he does it consistently, he is not staking because of the passion he has for the sport. On the other hand, you cannot be very comfortable betting on a sport you don't love.

As much I understand what you are trying to say, you can't just conclude, first off, you are wrong if you think every body betting in sports games are doing it for business purposes, you are absolutely wrong on this one, and this is not to say that people don't treat betting as a business, some do, but not all.

Secondly, different people show passion for something in different forms of which betting on the game can be one of such, those who are truly passionate about the sports and bet for that purpose don't bother if they end up losing the bet as well as loose the money, it takes having some degree of love for something for you to risk your hard earned money on it, so yeah, betting in sports games can truly be a way to show passion.

We have passion for sports and also have it for gambling and that is why we choose to play bets, we mostly have passion for betting and that is why we play games in gambling, but sometimes, we can't also denied if some of these were being influenced by the opportunities we stand to get from gambling, but on a general approach, it's so entertaining to play and watch sports and also bet on matches, all because we want all to be a complete entertainment to us as while gambling.

Betting might be one of the methods to show the passion of a person to the sports, but there are many other methods or options to show passion for sports.  Some of which are watching the sports, buying tickets to watch the sports live.  Buying merchs that can support their team or the sport industry.  Even sharing or reposting with the authors approval the article that boosts the exposure of the sports.

If a person thinks that betting on his favorite team is one way of showing his passion towards the team, does this not qualify the man as being passionate about his favorite team?  If he is happy betting on his favorite team, then using your standard, the person is passionate about the sports, specifically  his favorite team.

Well, it differs in people, because one can actually bet because of the passion he has for football and just derives joy that comes with correct predictions or loss regardless.

While the other can bet, not really for a peculiar reason but more of making profits and nothing more. No attachment or passion for any football team or sport team, maybe little knowledge about football too.

These are two different personalities in gambling with different objectives. Factually, whatever you put your money into should not be considered as passion but rather businesses or investments but it could be a different case for someone else too.

I agree here that it could sometimes grow into an addiction and one cannot enjoy a game without placing a bet on it. The adrenaline a stake does makes it more enjoyable for them which grows into an addiction. This does not still make it a business, it is just an uncontrolled passion.

That benefits the casino more than us as bettors, right?   The casino is a business and we are just being blackmailed into betting large amounts with a pattern of passion for sports betting.

Even I myself support my favorite team, rarely buy merchandise, never come to the stadium, but for a bet I am willing to choose another team that is superior to my own favorite team, because honestly I see the money and benefits.

I am confused about this as well. I have a few friends who watch football all the time and make bets on those games at the same time but I can’t be sure if they genuinely like football or not. Sometimes it feels like they watch those games just because they made bets and sometimes it feels the exact opposite. Sports and gambling go hand in hand without a doubt and that’s why we see many casino ads in football games. These industries feed each other because both of them have the same target audience.

My bets are usually on point, I bet on important matches, using others to complete my parlay.

If i don't enjoy football as a sport, plus the risk of losing money, I don't think i would enjoy betting.

Yes, but still this still show a passion.  No matter how we call it, being greedy or what, being passionate to win huge amount of money is still a passion.  Whether they are passionate about sports, only they can tell them.   Just like I cannot tell what is in your mind, or you can tell what is in my mind, how I feel towards sports, how I think I can show passion to the sports.  Just like the replies stated, this case is subjective, what's your thought about this or your action about this will differ with other people.

We cannot disagree or argue if a bettor say he bet because he is passionate about his favorite team because he is the only one who knows the truth behind his statement.

Maybe you didn't get it correctly, I think what they are actually trying to say is. football is a game of passion that's the right phrase not betting, passion means a Powerful feeling as love or hate. So when someone says that he or she has passion in betting it means that he or she is happy or they are okay with the money they are losing, so using the word passion' in betting doesn't make much sense to me i would rather say that it is an interesting game and it is worth trying but i don't have passion in it.

So, indirectly, if someone is running an ice cream business because they are so passionate in making ice cream, you would say it's not passing? Whatever. You can say they are passionate about making money and also passionate in the game of sports. Objectively, so many people are so passionate with sports activities and that was what actually lead them to start betting believing that the  fun is coming in two ways, winning some money and watching their team win a match.
